I did this commute every day for a few years when I was first out of college. I even moved to the UES for about 2 years when I got tired of it - you actually drive right past it at one point. I don't think of Manhattan and Brooklyn looking similar, but when you're driving around 1st ave in the 100s, the visuals look a lot like brooklyn to me. Good stuff. It's a shame that congestion pricing will soon take away (or more accuaretly, tax) our ability to just drive around the city.
This brings back memories. I lived just Bay Ridge Brooklyn 82-85 and worked for Video Shack in Manhattan. Was always worried about having a breakdown on Union Street near Atlantic Ave. Greetings from Germany.
