An exploration into the greatest Old-World buildings of New York City. New York City is an older city that may hold up better with the given historical account. It has had sufficient time to develop as a city but does the timeline of the rapid construction of many skyscrapers on the Manhattan skyline make sense? Many of these buildings contain an internal beauty and detail that defies the explanation of their rapid construction times.

New York is a beast I have hesitated to tackle thus far. Even the handful of buildings you present here invoke so many more questions.. Then there's the hotels going up in the early 1900's we are told...and the churches, mansions, etc. And I find the deeper I look into NY, the more it leaves me speechless. A truly enjoyable exploration my friend..

Thank you OWE! I agree with you, when you look into Manhattan alone it raises so much that could easily go ten explorations with so much to cover. That is not including the strange aspects of the Bronx which is relatively quite recent.

@@Restitutor_Orbis_214 My grandma lived in the Bronx. From 1970-1975 we visited her from long island. What I always couldn't understand was the rubble everywhere. Like the area was hit with something. She lived in a mudflood building. I thought the placement of the windows was odd. Never questioned the stairs leading up to the first floor. I saw a great video on ..Basement Lighting and glass set into the sidewalk to let light in.

There is a haunting nostalgia looking at these old world buildings. It is fascinating and stirs the memory somehow. The 'singer' and woolworth buildings are a great inspiration - perhaps those buildings, the worldwide domed buildings and many others, along with the long forgotten or now derelict public water fountains contributed to maintaining much higher frequencies than we have now...

Very enjoyable. So happy that you included the Singer building. So I just looked up the architect, Ernest Flagg. It appears that during 1895-1901 he is credited with not only the Singer, but 15 other buildings. Including St. Luck's Hospital. Which was Mt, Saini Hospital. He also designed the Naval Academy. Busy guy. The homes that Flagg designed are modest, low to the ground, with stone walls, and often with steep roofs, that was his specialty and probably the only buildings he really designed. It's these peripherals that also don't make sense. Like you said. Where did the money come from? I was just wondering where the workers lived, not like they could just drive there. Where did they eat, live, How were they transported to the job site? Who financed this. Another common theme is who was the construction company. Boller & Hodge (steel engineers) Charles G. Armstrong (mechanical engineers) I couldn't find any information on either. Keep up the good work. You have a passion for this. ..Adam

That's they only explanation I've been able to come to terms with, especially given the timeline of The Empire and Chrysler buildings. The vast underground of NYC is part of the mystery. In school I remember being taught about the 63rd street train station. In geology class. It was one of the deepest train stations with lots of never ending escalators. The sky scrapers and train station had many underground levels. Often with malls and shops and cafeterias filling their tunnels on the way up to street level. The ones I remember as a kid are all closed down now. But as a kid the other world's building rooftops mystefied me. The ornate statues and arches and landing pads up there

(when the narrative says it was built) I used to wonder...is all this necesary for people who are so distracted with their court case or lawyers focused on work to notice and appreciate the magnificent details? When you see newer court buildings they are all cold looking and practic and not too far off from looking like a prison or high school with cold boxy industrial crap architecture.

When I was a kid in the 80s I lived in Brooklyn NY. I remember we would go to our bank every few weeks and I would feel like I was in a different world. An ancient world. I was in awe of everything in there. If you get the chance look up Dime Savings Bank of Brooklyn. Its was established in the late 1850s and I believe they say it was constructed in the early 1900s. It was built in a 2 year span supposedly but the interior is insane. One of the crazy things was they used a specific type of marble that was only used in Ancient Greek temples. It was the first building in the country that used this marble.

With a vanilla sky anything is possible...but still there has to be some diary entry of someone who lived in nyc around that time or news report or stories passed down from people who saw the Singer Building sticking out of mud oelr standing before the date the narrative says it was built! If I saw a "construction photo" without a vanilla sky maybe i wouldnt be as suspicious! Unless they just institutionalized everyone in the area who could have been a witness to any of these skyscrapers being present pre narrative construction date...also..why are they still showing vanilla skies in the 1930s and 40s with the Empire States construction photos? We're a country of immigrants. The immigrants from Europe built structures here to be as grand as the buildings that were in their native countries. They brought skilled artisans to America to do this work and many artisans stayed, I'm sure, because America was growing rapidly and there was plenty of work. Remember, many literally thought the streets were made of gold! Not to mention there was no income tax, so a million dollars was a million dollars. The Vanderbilts, Astors, Carnegie's, Morgan's, etc., could definitely afford to build these structures. Their private homes were mind boggling. Could they do it with speed? If you can hire enough labor, I guess you could. How much did labor cost back in the day? What was the average salary of a hard labor worker who settled in America? Not much. There were no labor unions, so you worked for whatever they offered.
@Restitutor_Orbis_214

There was property tax, logistical constraints, divergent languages and customs among these immigrants and many “well documented” strikes against these families (no labor unions are needed for a strike).
@warmblood8016
@warmblood8016 7 месяцев назад
Property taxes were paltry and were mostly used to fund wars. If you're referring to logistics in bringing in materials for construction, they were brought in by ship. Languages and customs were just a pesky annoyance, and strikes?. Well, most of them failed to achieve anything, which is why labor unions were formed. @@Restitutor_Orbis_214

You provide proof that these buildings weren't there, and that they were indeed built by early New Yorkers. Isn't this the point of Tartaria? that they weren't there? Is it so hard to believe that people could build these things? Just because we are too lame, or too lazy, to do it today, doesn't mean it isn't doable. If anything, these buildings should be proof of what people are capable of. Maybe there is some merit to creating beauty in the world, instead of creating everything as cheaply as possible. I think you are right when you said that we should be thinking about how we lost the capability to do these things. I think that's really what we should be getting out of looking at what used to be. Our priorities in this world have gotten way off course.

What I find remarkable in contrasts are the 'individualized' so called construction photos, which makes me wonder why don't you see whenever they shoot a panoramic picture of a large city, buildings in the background being built at various stages of construction, if they're building so many buildings in such a short period of time. 410 days of construction for the Empire State Building from start to finish during the Great depression? 😂 i noticed it wasn't present in the skyline views but thats neither here nor there (who knows if these timestamps are even real. Time seems to be a major factor in this research) - I did find one thing quite curious in the aftermath pictures of the bomber crash in 45 that there was a major lack of steel I beam supports inside of the walls that was present in the "construction" photos. All I do know is that I don't know.... Im glad you "went there" because I feel that "Gotham City" is slowly being erased from our residual knowledge and his-storical memories by means of media manipulation, pushing it to cartoon status as a diversion. Even as a child I remember watching batman and I always felt NYC and Gotham City was one in the same (or perhaps Gotham was a nickname given to the City at some point?). NYC is a super hard nut to crack because the written narrative spans over at least 2 "great resets" of society.

The interior of the Singer building and of others, like the "robber barons" mansions, although extravagant, were mostly made out of plaster / cast and concrete, not marble, stone or chiseled materials. I supposed this was quite faster, but if you got a "bombing" or a fire going, these buildings would not be as fireproof as the ancient ones, like the Parthenon or Baalbek. Nevertheless, the amount of detail is really unnecessary for this time period and makes you wonder why the built like this in the early 20th century. Europeans for the most part did not built like this after 1850-80.
@Restitutor_Orbis_214
@Restitutor_Orbis_214 Год назад
I am just curious where it is stated it was made out of plaster? They sure didn't hesitate to tear these down and we have no way to verify. It is interesting that other buildings from that time frame that still stand are clearly not made of plaster anywhere in the construction. That does not indicate what these buildings' interiors were made of, but it is unfortunate we cannot personally verify it.

@@Restitutor_Orbis_214 What I meant was that part of the interior decoration on the columns and ceilings was plaster/ cast, not the entire building.
