Thanks for this! From a Native New Yorker. I’ve been playing since I was a kid. One of the few Americans who was playing at the time. I even got to see a bit of the NASL! So excited for this!! as an Austin FC fan, I was not expecting that clip of Driussi's banger against RBNY I think the reason they are experiencing 25k capacity is due to the money, they spent it on the foundation of the stadium to see if it’s successful, if it is they will naturally expand capacity. They don’t want to spend 1B outright to build a venue they aren’t confident enough to fill every game. Football is now growing a lot faster in the USA and with the World Cup that’s bound to accelerate this process. NY’s land is also very expensive, arsenal built their stadium for 600M and it put them into debt, so I am surprised NYC FC has this kind of money I like the exterior, oversized video board that wraps around the entrance. Very contemporary! Wow. Really impressive! It only took them 30 years after they hosted the World Cup. Could be used for rugby too. Easy access for European nations to fly over and take on the USA Eagles Great video bro! Keep the consistency going I wish they would bring the iconic COSMOS name back. I know they won't. I'm glad this is finally happening I'm from nearby in the area but I think the CEO is taking a big risk With 25,000 capacity. New York City is already a melting pot but I know from growing up here that Queens is the melting pot of the melting pot there's nothing but Europeans and Latin American soccer fans living all within the train and driving distance From the area. If the sport is growing in popularity, especially with the NYC market and population they should have been brave and beat whoever the highest capacity is. Not an everyday MLS fan I'm not sure if that's the LAGalaxyy stadium but You have to do more than 30,000 NYC. Cool. Hope it all comes together The best they can do with the space they've got they built stadiums and racetracks in less than a year now it takes longer to put a shovel in the ground Just remember this, folks. There is only ONE MSL soccer team from New York. The New York City Football Club. The New Jersey/New York Gotham team name is very misleading. There is nothing New York about it. Yes it includes the urban development around it such as retail, housing, a hotel, etc. add that to the fees, construction costs, logistics, higher construction wages (unions), higher cost in living in general, etc with it being in NYC.
They built it 25k because if they have a bigger game they are going to put it in MetLife stadium across the street like they did for the recent copa de America
The stadium is going to be packed, especially since it's near a Hispanic (mainly Mexican) neighborhood having a Fútbol stadium near walking distance or a train ride away
You would think they would have a long term vision and build a stadium on a spot where the might expand to 50k in the future , in case the MLS and NYCFC popularity really takes off ...
Stadium, hotel, schools, and retail , sounds cheap to me and I work in construction. Citi field cost 850 million just for that stadium alone . For just the stadium it will be around the 250-300 million range , the electrical package looks by the renderings to come in at 50 million for the stadium. So 750 million for the whole project is a steal. The Philadelphia 76ers are building a 1.3billion arena and that only seats 18k.
They should dissolve *the Nation Women's Soccer League* and re-created it as the *Women's Major League Soccer,* and have them wear the same kit's and names of the MLS teams like they do in England, Spain, Sweden and any where else they have a woman's league.
I think it's a different culture where fans prefer both the men's and women's teams to stand on their own feet without relying on one another's identity. But it's also often in a city, the men and women teams reppin the town are supported by the same set of fans. Sometimes treated even the same team in spirit such as in Portland with the Thorns and Timbers
Whilst this is generally true in England, it’s not completely true. There are some women’s team which don’t have a male counterpart. For example London City Lionesses and (in Scotland) Glasgow City FC. Ultimately it’s up to each club they want to do. If a woman’s club has a strong culture, history and identity of its own; then it would be a shame to loose that.

I really hope they increase the seating capacity before building begins. Dignity Health Sports Park, where LA Galaxy plays has a capacity of around 27,000
I don't know when this video was recorded but by the time of publishing the USA and Mexico had withdrawn their bid to host the 2027 Women's World Cup and Brazil had been voted as hosts. With a capacity of 25,000, The Cube would be nowhere near large enough to host Men's World Cup matches (minimum 40,000) and wouldn't have been chosen to host any Women's matches due to the MetLife Stadium. It also seems very unlikely that it'd host international games.
This was posted a day before they announced it haha but yes youre correct. Brazil will be the host. I really hope they increase the capacity, but it will be extremely hard to do being in NYC where space is very limited.
“The Cube” is just the main entrance with LEDs, not the stadium itself. The stadium will be named Etihad, and supporters will call it “the Valley of Ashes”.

@@michaelbruce2699nah, unlike MetroStars (and now Red Bulls), Jets and Giants actually came out of NY and played here for years. Something Metro never did (besides like 4 games after already being in Jersey for 1 whole season originally). They just accepted NJ as their home since the beginning.

SPACING. NYCFC can easily pull 25k+ on average but people are forgetting it’s nyc. The space is so limited and difficult to work with. Obv it’s prob not the main or only reason for that number but it def plays a part
@@FootballXpn what nearby buildings, have you seen willow points. There's nothing there. It's a dead industrial area with factory buildings that are no longer used
Here's a question: Why did FIFA have the audacity to name the stadium 🏟️ for the 2026 World Cup, "New York/New Jersey Stadium 🏟️?" (FIFA doesn't allow naming rights) The stadium 🏟️ is PHYSICALLY LOCATED in the Borough of East Rutherford, Bergen County, New Jersey. I'm sick and tired of the State of New Jersey playing second-fiddle to New York. New Jersey is footing the bill for this. 😡
Literally nobody outside knows what or where NJ is. And if they do it’s known for being NYC shadow. Your biggest tourist attraction is a view of Manhattan 😂 so settle down.
I think the stadium should have been in the Bronx riverfront, or Pier 40 in Manhattan. There are more train lines to handle capacity. Though I am a bit biased since j live in Manhattan and would rather the stadium be there 😅
@@FootballXpn Maybe but there are potential locations I personally believe could work like Pier 40, buying and redeveloping Colombia Soccer Stadium or Dewitt Clinton Field in midtown, or building it in the area where the proposed west side stadium would have been
There's no talk about the proposals that this association football stadium be turned into an AMERICAN football stadium that would host the Jets as well as NYCFC? Is that dead?
Well this is supposed to be a soccer specific stadium. So i hope they dont host any American football games. But then again, it is a stadium so who is to say they wont

I know "metro-stars" might have been kind of a long name for the redbull but I'd rather have this team get the rights to it over NYcfcfcccccc.... All of these European league copycat names are uncreative. The MLS bent the knee to those annoying fans. As an American league We should have kept the tradition of the other 4 sports city name 1st and then a solid nickname.

@@FootballXpn I know, with how big New York City is, they could have positioned this stadium anywhere. Maybe even just outside the city and created a 100k capacity stadium like Michigan stadium. That would have been so great. There's a small chance 2038 world cup will go to America, because of how Europe Africa and south America are being used to 2030 and Saudi for 2034, they have a two tournament rule to not use the same continent until at least the 3rd tournament and what's currently available for 2038 would be North America and Oceania. So Australia maybe. But I doubt they'll go to Australia and for them to go to America again after 12 years would be interesting. Unless they waive the 2 tournament rule
@@mohammedfaiisalThere's no reason to build an 100,000 seat stadium in the NYC area when MetLife exists. Unless you want to see a white elephant built.
Global football has 100+ years of development, this is a new era and therefore new methods have to be created to build anything. In the end, you will remain alone in the corner standing there pouting and yelling "pretender league" while the rest of us move forward with the party and enjoy what is happening.
It is a strange comment- but we all have to start somewhere in this global beautiful game. Heck, I wish the ISL would take off in my ancestral home I’m one of those old men that wish the FA Cup still had meaning, but as Admiral Kirk once uttered “Young minds, fresh ideas” That being said- there is a flipside to the original comment. NY Cosmos had true heritage and it’s a huge shame it could not be saved, be blooded in the new USL/ NASL to achieve “promotion” (yeah election) to the MLS
@@PHDiaz-vv7yo the Cosmos were offered a spot in MLS, but turned it down. Thought they were bigger than the league, and found out. 🤣 Now their owner won’t even let them play at all.
@@NahSonUrGood exactly...people just can't embrace change...that's why MLS will be better as the years progress because MLS is being an innovator not a duplicator league...and i suspect, once the salary cap is substantially raised, MLS will be in the lead...it's the American way to outshine the world in every capacity...

As a football/soccer fan from London who supports Liverpool football club, I don’t understand why you wanna have so much teams in New York City what is named New York? You got so much brows in the one City why can’t you be like teams in London because we got different teams in different parts of the borough like in North London or team is Tottenham Hotspurs and Arsenal football club And then in West London, you got teams like Chelsea, Fulham, and Brentford And East London, West Ham United and Leyton plus many more teams within London city and it makes it challenging especially that we got different borrows and indoors borrow you got teams named after the community or the area If you’re in Queens, why couldn’t you create a team called Nyc Queens? Or Queens FC. Just like Brooklyn or Bronx you could put FC or United that will make so much sense and make the city grow
It's the most popular sport on the planet bar America. We call it football because you use you predominantly use your feet. In a small country like England we have thousands of local teams and over 10 divisions to climb to reach the premier league. Without grass roots football you will never sustain the growth of the sport. Nice ground but we have teams in the 3rd division with bigger stadiums.
Not the most most popular “bar America.” Soccer isn’t the most popular viewing sport in the US, Canada, Australia, Ireland, etc. (pretty much the English speaking countries except the UK).
I hate this. If there is still a chance, this needs to be blocked. If those union workers want jobs, they can build this out on LI. That part of Queens is too crowded. The traffic will be horrendous.
@@FootballXpnLI would literally not have been ideal, the whole point is a NEW YORK CITY football club. In NYC. Unlike the red bulls who play in Jersey. That's literally the whole point
