He skipped, did not show the library, botanical garden, empire Blvd. Talked about Caton til tilden?Tilden?? Its a no. I also lived on Flatbush Avenue, for years, he skipped a whole lot.
Once a New Yorker, always a New Yorker! I'm 71, and I've been away in the Midwest for almost 20 years. I'm starting to get seriously homesick. Even though I was born and raised in the Bronx, I've spent a lot of time with friends in Brooklyn. I'm thinking that if I move back, I might like to settle in Brooklyn. It has always been a dynamic place with interesting people, and lots of artistic activity, which I would love. I don't know if I can afford to move back, but life in Ohio is not all that cheap either. Whether I make it back or not, New York will always be my home. New York strong!
I retired in Florida I used to live in Brooklyn and moved to Cleveland in the 80s and it was too cold, Florida is too hot, best place to live is Gorgia, is good weather.
I did my Basic Army training at Fort Gordon in Augusta in the springtime. It would get so hot that they would tell us to unloose our pants cuffs, take salt pills , and sit under a tree! I've been in Columbus, Ohio for almost 20 years, and right now it is 9 degrees outside, with a wind chill of -10! I guess no place is perfect. At least we haven't had any natural disasters since I've been here. I plan to visit N.Y.C. for at least a week this summer to see how I feel about moving back. I'm really missing the energy, and all the places to go and see. I haven't been back since 2007, so it will be like a new city to me. My Grandmother used to say that New York would be a wonderful place if they ever finished it! LOL! The city is alive and it will always renew itself! Be well, my friend and prosper!@@juliorivera870
I literally took my 3 sons out of Brooklyn in 1996 and purchased a home in Long Island . I have no regrets but I miss the ethnicity 💖 Back in the 70's it was a lot of things going on....I grew up on Farragut Rd and now those complexes are ruined because of . I remember living there and Christmas was my joy
I remember when that was a bank at Flatbush & Caton Ave with the Parking Lot and Carribean Market diagonally across. Now they're both Apartments/Condos with the Market inside (I think). I wonder how Mayor Adams will handle J'ouvert & Eastern Pkwy 11 days from now. Good to see Prospect-Lefferts Gardens & Flatbush vs the 6 o'clock news.
Im a 60s kid. Went to ' Rasmus. Used to be 6 movie theaters from Church Av to Cortelyou. Rialto, Loew's Kings, Albemarle, Aster next to Erasmus and 2 on Church Av. RKO Kenmore and the Granada. All gone except Loews Kings which they restored after decades. Ive been gone along time. Thank you.
7, you forgot The B.S. Moss Flatbush Theatre on Church close to Flatbush, it closed in 1952 they had Vaudeville & Movies, Keith bought it from Mr Moss, then went on to the RKO Kenmore Keith up the Block on E 21
Amazing cant believe how much my old neighborhood has changed. I grew up on Fenimore st lived there for 30 plus years, have been gone for 27 years dont recognize anything.
thank you for this video. feeling a bit homesick.Since a week I'm back in Germany. I love Brooklyn so much and all the people. Hope to be back in Spring to visit my family again. I was there for the first time and felt in love with everything.
This walk was amazing..Once you walked over to Bedford, it was like you had stepped down South! Last time I was in Flatbush was in the 90s .. first tattoo! Have to go up there soon .. To Linden Blvd! Such diversity..Thank You for sharing.. Stay Safe.. 🥰🥰
Brooklyn has it all from beach front property, to residential areas with houses, busy down town and then you have the typical blocks full of apartment buildings.
Today is wednesday and I was around where you are walking on monday ! I even saw some of the same guys that are always around. That's Flatbush ! ONE LOVE !
Damn actually looks better! My pops took me to the theater on Church Ave I don't know how many times. He also rode his bike to work from Ave I all the way to Atlantic Ave when the weather was good. RIP Dad 🙌
Julien thanks for sharing, this was definitely my Neighborhood... Straight out of Brooklyn, Bed Stuy, Crown Heights & Flatbush HOME!!! I needed that, I've been in Astoria for years now...
…miss the times from the mid 1980s living on east 35th (Clarendon and Cortelyou Roads) in East Flatbush, we had the best basement parties and food🇹🇹🇯🇲🇭🇹🇬🇾🇬🇩🇧🇧
@@sansblaze1375 it has “its moments” now that gang activity is an issue in some of the areas, but in terms of the neighborhood of East Flatbush overall…”there are worse areas in Brooklyn to avoid”
Man this brings back memories. He past Tilden ave I was thinking about the carribean club that use to be there. Shout out to those that remember Tilden Ballroom
Hey thanks for making this video. In the late 80s early 90s I live right in that first building after the playground right above the entrance apartment 2b. My life growing up there was ugly pure hell after my father got shot 3 times we left but after going back more than 20 years later it just felt like home to me. Even though my life is much better now I still carry that block where ever I go. Best video keep doing what you do👏👏😀

I lived on ocean avenue & regent place from 1977 till 1996. I was excited to see when you walked across Tilden Avenue. Regent place is right across the street from Tilden. I had a lot of great times there. There will never be anyplace like Brooklyn!
Born and raised in Brooklyn. Lived over 20 years in Flatbush, as a poor black kid. What was interesting is how so many people learned to live in such a small area. No shade. I hated it but had no choice at the time. I worked hard to improve myself and income level. I moved on to the Manhattan beach area. Then, I moved to New Jersey. Got tired of the cold. Moved out west to Arizona. Then tried Florida. No mountains. I hated it. Now I live in beautiful Southern California. Live at Laguna Beach. Around mountains and beaches. My favorite sights. Great year round weather. Most New Yorkers have no idea how big this world is. Or how much better you can live. If you think living like this is nice. You don't know better. That's just my opinion. Don't think I'm better than no one. It was nice to see the old neighborhood. I hope I didn't offend anyone. Please, open your mind.
Good to hear you found happiness in SoCal. Now, get ready for the WOKE crowd to mandate how you live your life. While I pay just over $3.00 for a gallon of gas, YOU support Gavin Newsom and the WOKE agenda at over $4.50 per gallon.
Flatbush is still holding on although there has been a bit of gentrification especially in the Prospect Park-Lefferts Garden area where the video started.
Well that all depends on what part of Flatbush you're talking about because over in the midwood section of Flatbush it's always has diversity especially if you go towards newkirk Plaza
@@frankjames6232 what's wrong with diversity, gosh you live in America everybody is somewhat mix wether in their country or when they come her, yall act like yall in Nigeria or China America made up of mix people so stop with that nonsense Hispanic people would be consider gentrification in a black area, because an Hispanic is one tone from been Caucasian not mention their forefathers is Caucasian and native Americans, blacks is only difference from the less of brighter looking people now black people is mixing more with all race creating different color tones of people
@@Derellrassy87 when you read my comment did you see anything negative I said about diversity?? All I said about Flatbush always being diverse simply I lived in the midwood section of Flatbush on Flatbush Ave between Glenwood road and Farragut rd near the junction
Thank you man truly appreciate. Grew up in Flatbush, smoked weed on the church steps across from Erasmus High but Ocean Ave was my base. Again thank you.
I love watching videos like this I’m in London uk 🇬🇧 and heard so much about my Flatbush Brooklyn nuff yard man dehya it actually looks nice I thought I was gnna see something else maybe gotta go Brownsville never run never will 🇬🇧🏴🇺🇸🇯🇲💪🏾
I love my neighborhood. There isn't much violence going on anymore except for a couple sketchy blocks but the only issue now is the garbage that usually piles up, but it has gotten better since the pandemic
It's also referred to as Little Caribbean. There's a banner at the beginning and end of the boundary, Little Caribbean. Official name recognized by USPS.
@@user-kq5hy8lz2w 479 Flatbush Avenue. Flatbush & Washington st. If you grew up in the 60’s , the smell of baking bread permeated the Lefferts Garden neighborhood.

While watching, I have the impression that you are running and filming. Slow down a bit and focus more on the details of shop windows, beautiful buildings, houses.
This area isn't Flatbush it's Prospect Lefferts Gardens now. Flatbush begins further south from your starting location at Clarkson Ave. Old school people still can this Flatbush, but it's new gentrified name is Prospect Lefferts Gardens.
@@jermainehnbhwalls822 lol, no I'm not. I'm from Staten Island (don't laugh) but I've been living in this area for 12 years now. Before this I lived in "Flatbush" E.35rh street for 4 years. This area is changing fast, you see all the new apartment buildings going up everywhere.
They Changed the Name from Flatbush because of The influx of Whites, Cortelyou , Beverly road Around Rugby is Now called Ditmas Park . This is a Attempt to Rename Flatbush because of its Assassination with Black, , and Carriebean
I took my son back to my old stomping ground this summer and he loved it. He’s born in Canada and he’s always saying he’s from NYC like his mommy lolol 😂😂
