Those lights wouldn't flicker in a way that's noticeable to us in real life - it's just that the current here is fluctuating not in sync with the camera, so the lights appear to flicker
Twenty years! That's all it took for phones to be able to film like The Matrix. Back then I didn't even have Snake as a game on my phone, that was four or five years away, but I did have a pull out antenna!!! Tech dev is balls out crazy.
You can see the frequency of the North American power grid in the pulsing of the crosswalk signs, little bit of math and you can extrapolate what it is, if you're into that sort of thing.
Someone on Reddit actually calculated one of the shot's speed. Quote: slickestchicken - "The clip at 1:32 shows a street sign flashing 17 times at what I assume is 60Hz. The camera travels about 2.5m in this time so you can approximate the speed at 2.5m/(17s/60)=8.8m/s which is 31.7km/h or 19.7mph. Pretty neat, I wonder what it would look like at higher speeds."
Took you a long time to edit this apparently. Phone came out in March but it was posted in August but I can tell the footage is from March because a lot of people still wearing winter clothes.
Great comment on how long it took this guy to make and post this video. Really interesting and cool thing to mention. I too thought a lot, not about the video, but about the duration of the production time.
Its ok i don't think he meant anything offensive. I assumed from his name it was an objective observation. Yeah i ended up sitting on the footage till i could find the perfect music. Then my friend just composed music for me and solved it!
We only went a tiny bit faster than everyone else, since NYC roads are very congested. No gimbal needed since the motion is so slow that any bumps aren't noticeable.
@@paulchoi5962 It will only record for a few seconds but when you play it back at normal speed it gets expanded out. If you record for 2 seconds at 960 FPS then when you play it back at 30FPS it will be 32 times longer or 64 seconds of footage. what you see in the video is the slow frame footage the real time recording was likely very short.
One trick is to do it in brighter light or "trick" the camera into treating the scene as brighter. The worst shots for me were in the subway. I only got one barely salvageable shot from there, and that's what's in the video. I fixed the all the colors slightly too.
