As an islanders fan I think it’s a great move, for Ilya sorokin he has one of the best goalies in history to help him with his recent struggles, the Islanders sign a guy who likes to make roster changes, which has been much needed as the bottom six has been abysmal, this is a guy that’s not afraid to make some moves to get stuff done and I think it could be great for the team, He may only have 3 years experience as a coach but he won himself a jack Adams and has his own Stanley cup, thus could end up being a Lou lamoriello master class. Also, GOODBYE AND GOOD RIDANCE LAME LAMBERT✌️

FOUR Stanley Cups! As many as the entire Isles organization. And you're right, our boys need a shake-up.

3 years in the NHL but has been coach and GM in the LHJMQ since 2005 in Quebec. Dude has been a solid coach for almost 20 years now.

@@jeanjacques9365 I was looking at his stats and some comments on how he was there n he was crushing it down there, and after that press interview it really showed he has the passion to give the isles fans what they deserve, very exciting

The funniest thing to me is that after losing 5-0 to Minnesota, Lee told the media “we need to get pissed”, and then they went and hire Roy 2 games later

Here’s my opinion. I didn’t hate lambert. I actually liked him to a point, but I did feel like he didn’t make enough of an effort to change things up after the chhristmas break. Nor do I think he shows enough emotion on the bench for his team to feed off of. Whenever the cameras pan over to him he always has one look on his face and it’s always looks like disgust. So I don’t mind the change but I also wouldn’t have minded if he wasn’t fired either as long as he fixed a couple things

As an Isles fan, I'm SO glad Lambert is gone and I'm pretty excited to see Roy mix things up a bit. It's something we really needed. The one thing I worry about is Roy's temper. Otherwise I'm STOKED!! Let this man COOK!!

Temper brings more passion and brings out more in your players than being cold. He is a leader you want to follow not a nameless faceless coach you have no respect for.

I thought he would go to MTL tbh. There were some rumors that when Ducharme was fired that he would head coach. I think he will be a great coach. MSL wasnt really seen as a coach and then the Habs signed him and they seen a lot more success.

So happy to see this change…it’s about time!!! The Islanders have struggled since Trotz left, they should not have fired him. He was the first coach to get the Isles out of the doldrums of the NHL and back into serious playoff contention in YEARS. He left and Lane Lambert was a dud right out of the gate, I personally never saw him as “the guy” who would get the Isles to a Cup and as a lifelong fan, I always hope I’m wrong about that but it turns out, I wasn’t. I only wish this coaching change had been made at the beginning of the season but once again, I remain hopeful that this change will reinvigorate the team to pull it together and make a solid run at the playoffs (get past the first round please!) As a goalie parent, I feel like Ilya is the heart and soul of the team and if Roy can forge a solid bond with him and that first line (Lee, Barzal, Horvat, Dobson etc) he will have no trouble getting the rest of team buying into his coaching position and it’ll be off to the races. It’s about time, should’ve been done months ago when they started leading their division in overtime losses but thank God someone at the NY Islanders had the balls to do what’s necessary before losing the entire season. To the players…time to wake up and stop phoning it in. Most of the season is now behind you and every win counts. Get back to work!

islanders fan- i think he’ll help the team get back to playing how they did when trotz was coach + the power play flourishing, i feel like they have enough talent to make the playoffs but not all the way. Roy was definitely the guy that needed to be brought in for the players on the team and players on the team going forward.
@joncarelli9941
@joncarelli9941 8 месяцев назад
As an Isles fan living in Denver, I can tell you that Roy is regarded as a god here. Can a former goalie help the defense bring down the shots against totals, which are 2nd worst in the league after San Jose? Sorokin doesn't need any help. He's not the problem. Dobson is great on the offensive side, but makes too many mistakes in his own zone, see last night as he partially screened Sorokin on Jones' winning shot. I think he could be great for the competitive fire aspect, and obviously winning four Stanley Cups will carry weight in that locker room. Willing to give him a chance, not that I have a choice.
