I believe Donavan Mitchell has a player option in his contract. So I'm pretty sure he won't opt in that year and test free agency. Now you still got your picks, guys like Barrett, Grimes, Obi, Quickley, McBride, Robinson, Brunson, and Simms will have those years to build more chemistry. Who knows one of them might be a star, and then you sign Mitchell as a free agent now you have something. Now I know everyone probably won't be here, but you get my point. Cause listening to Donavan Mitchell he's gonna wanna come home, and it will happen I believe. Now all the Knicks need to do is be competitive. Even in the east where teams are much better than the past. They just gotta build something this year and be in it at the end of the season.

Mannnn, this video just popped up for me, literally the exact same words that i was saying about donovan mitchell trade, ainge saved us, starting lineup would be brunson mitchell cam reddish who is playing 0 mins rn randle and hartenstein, that would be probably the worst defensive team in the league, we wouldnt even make the playoffs maybe and we traded everything away.. Thats whats scares me to this day because its the same front office who made that offer, im still for trading randle and just taking this and only this year for the getting high pick but that will not happen, the problem is we do not have anybody who can be the number one player on championship team and with kevin durant situation its seems like that guy cant be acquired via trade because you are giving up your whole team and future, so we will trade for some star like zach lavine unfortunately and be random for few years and then blow it up again instead of just this year getting high pick and for example pairing scoot with jalen brunson..

First of all Barrett is not worth that contract. He's more hype than results. Randall is a low IQ player. Still, I agree. They are in a good space right now, a flexible one. They have active hands on defense and most of the mistakes that cost them games is on offense. They need a shooter and another closer besides Brunson.

Agreed. DV upside is known he is 27, heʻs NOT a tier 1 player like KD, Jokic, Giannis, Embid, Luka, Bron or even Taytum, so why give up the ship? He does not have the upside of Zion, Lamelo, Ayton, Morant, Edwards or KAT. What upside does R.J Barrett have at 22 years old? At LEAST equal to DV currently and maybe more. That is not a trade that works for the knicks and DV is no KD worth gutting the club. Good no trade.

The thing with roleplayers is their career averages look worse than their actual production. If it was possible to sign melo in free agency and keep chandler and gallo we would have been better off. They look like 12 ppg players but for their primes they were 15 points on good efficiency and we didn't replace them. We had guys like landry fields, balkman, anthony randolph and so on.
