Another blown save by Diaz. That's enough

It's depressing. He had that perfect arm slot to reel off a few amazing seasons and now it's gone. That injury he had seems like an event that totally changed everything about the future of this team. F the WBC.

Since the baseball season is the proverbial marathon, it's hard to predict what twists and turns that this season will ultimately take. As Evan pointed out, we were indeed fortunate to go 2-5 in this seven game stretch against the Braves and Phillies (thanks for the afternoon getaway game, MLB douchebags, giving us a 6:40 PM first pitch Thursday with.a two hour plus plane ride and a game tomorrow night inI Miami on tap!) Hopefully, Duaner Sanchez isn't with the team on the flight! Based on this start to the season, the Mets have to be looking at secruring one of the wild card slots as a possible "best case scenario" outcome. Should unexpected things occur (injuries, losing streaks, plagues, pandemics, etc...) to the Phillies or Braves in the upcoming weeks or months to pull them "back to the pack," then expectations could be adjusted in terms of being buyers or sellers at the trade deadline. Much of this podcast (especially the latter part) focused on what the Mets will or should dol in terms of their current roster and trade possibilities. Here is how I see it: (1) Stearns is roughly five months into his tenure, and it appears that Cohen has given him total control over the roster, so I do not expect him to make any crazy or rash moves. That was not his m.o.. in Milwaukee, and I don't think he will act much differently in New York. If he believes he is here for the long haul, Stearns will use this season to evaluate the roster and see what major moves he wants to make In the offseason. (2) Evan does not think that Stearns will make any moves until the trade deadline. The one thing I will say about that is that if you can trade your under-performing guy (McNeil/fill in the blank!) for aniother team's under performing guy in May or June and hope that a change of scenery benefits both players, then you should entertain that possibility. If both teams are in a "sell low" situation, then what is the harm to either franchise? We're not talking about unloading major contracts (like Lindor) or players (like Lindor!!) here. (3) If we can get Senga back sometime In the next few weeks, that will be a major boost to our starting rotation, assuming he is 100 percent healthy and can approximate the kind of numbers he put up in 2023 for the Mets this season. (4) Until later today, we have not played any games against the Marlins or the improved (hovering around .500) Washington Nationals. If the Mets can find a way to play several games above .500 against the Marlins and Nationals this season, it could go a long way toward dictating their positioning in the wild card battle. It's gong to be tough to stack wins against the Braves and Phillies, so you are going to have to make it up somewhere else on your schedule. The most glaring opportunity schedule wise comes up July 1-July 22, where the Mets have four games In Washington, four in Pittsburgh (hope you avoid both of their rookie flamethrowers!), a six game homestand against the Nationals and Colorado Rockies and a four game road trip in Miami against the Marlins. If you could go 12-6 or better during a stretch like that, it could go a long way in determining your playoff viability just before the looming trade deadline. (5) Following the upcoming trips to Miami and Cleveland, we have an unusual 10-game home stand against the NL West. I say unusual because MLB has seemingly shifted away from these "protracted" road trips/homestands that used to dot the schedule back In the day. Normally, you might feel good about such a home stand, that kicks off with the middling San Francisco Giants (who beat us two of three out there last month), a streaking Dodgers club, followed up by the defending NL champion Arizona Diamondbacks. If you can go 6-4 here you will take it, because the Dodgers could sweep you with the way they've been playing lately. Just keep the head above water (hover around .500) until the schedule eases up a bit in the middle of the season and evaluate things from there....

What I want to know is, what was Pete Hoffman "noshing on" at the beginning of the podcast? Let the guy eat and digest his food before popping him up on the screen And is he following in Evan's foot steps with the beard? Maybe the next "punishment gig" on WFAN should be having to open mouth kiss Shaun Morash? A Morash "kissing booth."

Mets can’t even pick up the hangers. Men on third with less than two outs, they can’t get the run in. Bases loaded, unless it’s a hit batter or a walk, they don’t score.

the core, avg is what .200, McNeil hitting .150 last month, Lindor under .200, Pete .220. This is an awful core

Trade everybody except Scott and Nimmo, trade the mascot, trade the bases, ring this team out like a dish towel. Make McNeil the towel boy. Alonso is not the answer unfortunately. I wish he was but he's a 30 year old in decline with zero emotion.

Nimmo can be traded too. That cornball runs to first after a walk, he's batting .200, he has no arm whatsoever, and ge doesn't steal bags. Blahhhhh
