I can't thank the Yankees organization enough for presenting this team like this. I'm reliving my best memories. My dad and I watched the yankees religiously. I was 16, a high school baseball player, pretending to be my favorite Yankees. He had Mantle growing up. I had Jeter. Now my daughter has Judge. The Yankees is what bonds my family. It's more than just baseball. It's life. Thank you for all the great memories. That's what life is about.
Nice to hear the word "bonds" used in a positive light for MLB! I grew up on the mid 70s Yankees, the 78 team will always bring tears to my eyes, even as I type this I get choked up.
@willmack5909 I know how you feel! I got choked up multiple times while watching this. I now see why my dad loved watching Old Timers Day. It's fun to watch the players that gave us all of those fun memories. Cheers to you my friend.
As a Yankee fan that no longer lives in the NY tri-state area, I want to thank you so much for streaming this. It was killing me yesterday that I couldn’t watch Old Timers Day, especially with the return of DJ.
I went to my first Yankee game at the ripe old age of 12 in 1969, got to say Mickey play in person albeit as an old timer in the 3 inning game before the real one, it was bleeping Awesome. The greatest franchise in history!!!!!
Yankees fan since I was 10, and the ‘98 team is easily my all-time favorite. I loved all 25 of them. We had a different hero (or pair of heroes) each game; the crucial hit could’ve come from anybody, including a deep bench of capable hitters like Strawberry, Raines, Spencer, even Homer Bush or Luis Sojo.
Thank you for posting the 75th New York Yankees old timers day ceremonies. I don't have the channel so this is the perfect opportunity to view this on here. Plus to honor the 25th anniversary of the 1998 World Series championship that the Yankees won a record overall of 125 games that magical season...JP
These tributes are beautiful. All of these players touched us in some way growing up. I grew up in the shadows of Yankee stadium but admire the Mets. I'm an '80s boy. But the '90s sure are memorable. I liked seeing Tim Raines also. I believe he played from the late '70s to early 2000s. Great to see Andy Pettite too! Really just everyone. Thanks for the upload!
There was just something special about the 96-98 Yanks and 98' Yanks in general. You couldn't beat them. No homo. When I heard the Derek Jeter chants, i got watery eyes and emotional. Damn that brought back childhood memories.
I want thank you for streaming and sharing this. I had to be away during the Old Timers Day. I set it up to be taped, but something went wrong. Again thanks for bringing this to us.👍
What a classy thing to do. This is what makes baseball great. Love all the lady’s there, celebrating their partners. 😊 this should be before every game.
When are they going to bring back Girardi for old timers I know it’s gonna take time as it did for Torres but Boone is only an old timer cause he’s the manager Girardi was apart of 3 World Series as a player and was starting catcher for most of those runs and was the manager of a World Series team put some respect on his name
Where’s Reggie Jackson…. I remember watching (Ground Round in White Plains,NY) Reggie hitting 3 HOME RUNS in the ‘77 World Series. I went crazy… Drinks on me. Haha. I had no money. Good memories.
Michael Kay messed up the Derick Jeter introduction by not saying Derrick's name, and just called him the captain... Because of that, Derick didn't know when to enter, and the fans didn't know when to cheer...
Hmm what was up with Paul not only not taking his cap off during the remembrance part of the ceremony but also talking during it? Paul, loved you as a player big time, but big time violation there.
David Wells showed hatred toward Nike and Bud Light because he says they're "too woke". Just another example of someone hating somebody that looks different than him. He's likely another Trumper... theathletic.com/4847490/2023/09/09/yankees-david-wells-nike-mlb-rant/
geez you think there would be moore people there for this festive occasion but nope. bet you anything if the yankees were in first place that place would be packed but nope
What an embarrassment that NYY has decided to no longer play the OT game. All the 90s players are still in decent shape. I want to see Mariano and Pettitte pitch to Jeter and Bernie. They're a bunch of primadonnas for not playing.
I remember when these games were free. What a mess they made out baseball. Bring back the twi-night double headers. Bring back the free games. Bring back the fundamentals of the game. Let pitchers pitch 9 innings. Let relievers pitch 2+ innings. Stop going for the HR's all the time. Stop bring in the fences in. Stop with the commercials every break. THESE ARE SOME THE REASON ATTENDANCE HAS BEEN DOWN FOR THE LAST 16 YEARS.
Yeah it looks like they hasd about 20000 people there - PRETTY SAD !! That's because all the REAL GREATS ARE DEAD like Berra, Ford , Joe D, Mantle etc. Back in the 70's and 80's Oldtimers Day WAS REALLY SPECIAL with all those guys there !!
