Luis Gil looks absolutely incredible he's been fun to watch let me drop this gem stat because it's insane Luis Gil Last 5 Games: 0.59 ERA, 35 K, 12 H, 30.2 IP Gil is the first pitcher in Yankees history with an ERA below 0.60, at least 35 K and fewer than 15 hits allowed in any 5-game span.
@@josephtalmadge3108Nestor has been the worst out of the bunch. Schmidt is top 10 in the AL in ERA right now. You can’t demote someone who is getting such good results.
@@josephtalmadge31086 man rotation to start when Cole comes back… if someone starts to struggle (like stroman, Cortes, or Schmidt) I think they get moved to the pen. It’s a good problem to have tho and if they all keep pitching good, idk what you do if your Boone
@@josephtalmadge3108 I’d say a 6 man rotation is likely, hard to put any of those dudes in the bullpen. But it’s a damn blessing to have that problem lol
@@zachgreene9079I think Cortes should go to the pen as a long reliever/spot starter. He's been good, but he's also been the weakest of the 5. Having a legit starter in the pen would be a huge advantage, plus the odds of nobody spending IL time are next to zero, it's a long season.
@@markzuckergecko621 definitely agree he’s the odd man out. I think having him in the pen as a backup pending injuries, or as a spot starter/ long reliever is a good plan so I couldn’t agree with you more
And i wont either Big G.His demeanor and the way he conducts himself with teammates tells me a lot. I see and read a lot of criticism about his streaky hitting, but as i have heard many times over the years, being a DH and coming off the bench is not easy, you have a lot of inactivity. I just wish he had the legs he once had, he was pretty good in the outfield.
I really think Soto is the spark that made the difference. I don't think one player has as much impact in baseball as in other sports, but Soto is a special player, he brings more than just his numbers.
I feel this team has something special this year. It is not just because we have superstars but very good team players. Soto is not same player from SD nor Was. He thinks about the team first. What a surprise that he pretends to bunt. And Luis Gil is spectacular. Watching Cole to relax Gil and giving advice is very special too and can see that he cares others very well as a leader of the team. Go Yankees!!!!!
Another stellar pitching performance! The offense has been great too, but with consistent solid starts and a lights out bullpen, that makes us the kind of team that can go deep into the playoffs. This team just keeps exceeding expectations.
Cole is locked in even when he is not pitching. He knew exactly what Gil needed and Gil responded. Yankees are all locked in right now and this is without Cole and the Martian
Play Nestor at home and use him early in a series, then swap him to bullpen duty; either as an opener or an extender if someone gets railed and taken out early. His home ERA is almost 1.2 and he's gone 7+ 3 times at home? Absolutely insane when you look at his away ERA of like 6 and 4 inning average. I agree with you 100% drop him for cole *unless* you start him early in a series and you start him at home. Otherwise use him first 3 and take him out, or have him bail someone out and pitch 5th-8th.
At least we got a split out of the series. Luis Gil pitched out of his mind, Judge is going off like crazy and the rest of the offense came through when it mattered. Now on to San Diego for a 3-game showdown with the Padres!
Stanton hit career HR #414, now tied for 54th All Time. Gil was amazing again, great job by Cole telling Gil to slow it down. Great win, too bad we blew a 3 run lead in the first game, but that’s Baseball for you.
@@cvonbarron Over the last month Gil has been the best in MLB. Luis Gil Last 5 Games: 0.59 ERA, 35 K, 12 H, 30.2 IP Gil is the first pitcher in Yankees history with an ERA below 0.60, at least 35 K and fewer than 15 hits allowed in any 5-game span.
Gil has been a gidt from the baseball gods for the Yankees. Unbelievable...the only thing im worried about is the looming inning limit he may have to endure due to the surgery he had. We need him in this rotation at all costs come playoffs.
Gerrit Cole can be 45 and I'm still going to want him in the dugout because of how strong the combo of him and Matt Blake are. Also #40 for Judge and Stanton double HR games baby.
The first two games against Seattle aside, this team has been on fire lately. But as much fun as it is watching them crank out hits, watching Luis Gil have such a breakout season has been such a joy. Gil and Cole are going to be a serious problem (for other teams) soon.
And Clarke Schmidt. I just checked, and all 5 of the starters are in the top 20 in the AL for ERA. Granted, we've only played 17 games against winning teams so far this year, but it's still amazing.
@gringobronx7670 I said that about a week ago and my fellow Yankees fans were yelling at me lol 😆. I just think Schmidt before that last outing against the Rays I think he went 8 but before that he was only giving us 5 inn. Good problem to have I guess
Why do you keep saying Schmidt? He's been pretty solid. Cortes has been the worst pitcher they have. Who cares if fans put you on blast, you're right and they're wrong. Besides results matter and Schmidt has been getting results.
Great win for a split Pitching! Gil Is another Pedro 😂 LONG BALL early Small ball later on with SB and 2 SF's HR's for 5:48 GCS + AJ99 = The Yankees Win! LGY all the way.
Yanks have improved a lot Adding SOTO plus Verdugo GIL is a godsend AJ99 Much healthier Rodon and Nestor looking better than they did in '23 Cole could make the starting staff even more awesome. The OF Trio has great chemistry GCS looks rejuvenated. LGY. 2009 is a long time ago😅
Gil the Pill does it again ! damn.... cashman has to get some love for Clay and Gil.... he missed on so many.. and deserves heat, but when he hits.. he deserves credit... Remember when Aaron Small happened ? I do...
Is it just me or is Gil really is a lot better than Severino. Severino has great stuff and he can get batters out quickly when his control is working, but he was never this dominating compared to Gil.
Besides Gil's great game, so many fundamentals. SEE saber bro's, you need to make CONTACT. Two fly outs brought in runs. First AB for Volpe, he reaches out of the strike zone for that hit. This is ABC fundamental baseball. It's WINNING baseball.
Bro Volpe is flash also the double was even better when you slow it down and watch him fly the kid flew make a video I was going make a video on Volpe 16 game hitting streak
He'll be the #2 starter if Gil keeps this up. 1.01 WHIP, .142 BAA, and he's really gotten his walks down: 19 in his first 5 games, only 10 in hist last five and he's gone 6+ innings each of his last 5 starts. If he can continue to improve on his control and get his pitch count down, he is going to be unstoppable.
Failed to win or sweep the series because of Boone, but salvaged a split. Good win. Gil can deal! Offense was solid. Bullpen did the job. Now our sleep gets ruined for the next 10 days out west. Let's go Yanks! #RepBX
Lol. They lost the first game , Holmes first or second blown save of the year, on week contact in the 9th. They were due 4 a loss after 7 wins in a row. They lost the firat 2 and came back with the split. Great series imo. This team is gritty.
I think so too, since the 5 starters throw a lot of pitches per inning. Maybe have Cole pitch every 5 days and give each of the other starters a rest when his turn comes up.
Que razon de peso tiene GianCarlo Stanto de no dar un high five o saludo a su coach de tercera no quiero pensar es un mala gente por no decir la razon, disculpe esta observacion de su jugador yankista NY.⚾️⚾️🧸
