People dont understand that the prices of things are never going back down. This inflation is deeper than we think. Those buying groceries are well aware that the real inflation is much over 10%. The increments dont match our income, yet certain investors still earn over $365,000 in stocks and assets. Wish I could accomplish that.

They're constructing these new buildings in Brooklyn and asking $2,400 for a 1 small bedroom apartment. If you're single, you have to spend 90% of your income on rent, which means you won't even be qualified. That's the situation that I'm in right now. It's really sad.

The country's economy is in a "super bubble." The stock market is hitting all time highs based upon rate cuts. The fundamentals don't support the market being this high. Real estate continues to rise or only slightly decrease in some places. Rents are hitting all time highs. I expect the "super bubble" to pop at any moment. The economy is not good enough to sustain this nonsense.

I left NY for Tennessee last year, best decision of my life. In 5-10 years, Tennessee will be more expensive as it already has increased rapidly but it is still MUCH more affordable than up there! I recommend coming down !

@@vulcan2882 actually Country Walk is a bargain. You compare the prices of houses to the rest of Miami and Fort Lauderdale in Broward County. I'm still getting a bargain even with homeowners insurance compared to them. Now I have to admit traffic got terrible in Country Walk when I came here 21 years ago. Back then you could even drive west of Tamiami executive airport to avoid traffic back then. You can't do so today. Traffic now dies down about after 8 p.m. which means 12 hours of traffic every day.

The cost of living is skyrocketing not only in NYC but EVERYWHERE in the country! Even when New Yorkers move to another state, the cost of living jumps up dramatically in those other states. Combine this with the constant roll back of human rights and fundamental benefits that Americans need to survive, and you have a recipe for disaster.

Be careful my fellow documented citizens. If you get an eviction, it'll be on your record for 7 years, and renting will be virtually impossible, and you'll be essentially be homeless forever, cause no rental history will preclude you from qualifying for rent after the 7 years. Not to mention breaking a lease is usually an exorbitant fee that needs to be paid up front lump sum in the 10s of thousands. Least y'all got right to shelter in NYC, except it's beyond capacity full of mostly peaceful newcomers.

I have had to choose between eating and rent at times. My child has had to do without at times and at one time he was going to leave school and get a job to help ends meet. I refuse to allow that. Now that he’s out of school. He has decided to get a job instead of going to college. I’m doing the best I can. I won’t allow him to not go after his dreams because I’m disabled. The problem is SNAP is very unfair there standard living cost are way too low for nyc and not at the correct rate rent in nyc is very very expensive they don't consider transportation, student loans, wifi because wifi is a utility expense that not countable they count ssi for a child as household income but the ssi is not to support a household it's for the child smh the whole system Is screw up

This is by design. When real estate costs increase, both housing and commercial costs increase. Thank developers. 30 year ago Eyewitness news would've done a deep dive into how and why this is happening. Now they just report reactions.

Ah So let's make childcare "free". The symptom that childcare is expensive isn't the cure. The issue isn't childcare is costly, but the cost of doing business in NYC Is expensive because of government involvement in everything. We are regulated for everything including making rent more expensive like rent control (price fixing) and giving tenants (and squaters) rights when they shouldn't. that is why it's costly do business in this state.
