I crossed during the recent marathon. At that point it was elderly people just speed walking. I was smoking a cigarette and the cop said go ahead. But don’t smoke near the runners. I gave him a look like 😮. Then he said just kidding. And we both laughed 😂.
Yeah, Jeff - could you include crossing instructions at the end next year....SO much easier to make a long diagonal cut through! New Yorkers oughta know better! This video is awesome, thanks!
Why would they go a different way? That wastes more time finding where to go. I’d rather slow them down it’s not like they’re actually racing if you’re not first you’re last and the fact it’s a marathon makes it even more sad so everyone shown here just needs to take a break and let others cross. Why not go on a private marathon far from people for a better experience (as long as you bring lots of water)
Randall Schemenauer It is called “everyone has a life” there are more important things than making sure you come 20th in a race instead of letting people cross and coming 30th potentially. Only first counts and they are long gone.
@@SneakyCrocodile You know nothing about running. "Only first counts" is absolutely wrong. Every age group has its own winner and runner-up. People are trying to get a certain time to qualify for the Boston Maraton or for their own personal best. So just shut up. It's one-day out of the year, it's massively advertised. New Yorkers can start their day early to accommodate the runners.
It occurred to me while watching the marathon last year so this year I showed up with two cameras. I filmed this on my phone last year: instagram.com/p/BbIb_ndB3RG/?
Reminds me of everyday life in Ho Chi Minh City except the runners are scooters and motorcycles. Trying to walk across the street and doing so successfully (still alive on the other side) should be an Olympic event!
Okay, I ran my first NYC Marathon back in 1997, AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'VE SEEN SUCH A UNIQUE VIDEO! BRAVO!!! ... Very creative!!! ... ... ... ((( ••• If you have a dog on a leash DO NOT let the leash dangle low for runners to trip over. ••• DO NOT cross at a 90 degree angle, instead go with the flow of runner traffic, be willing to move in the same direction of the runners for about 10 feet or so. ••• DO NOT just walk slowly, instead break into a slow jog or trot. ••• DO IT WITH A SMILE AND/OR A GRACIOUS HAND WAVE. … … … Keep in mind that many of these 50,000 runners have trained FOR MONTHS to do this, so help them achieve their goal by NOT getting in their way. New Yorkers are better than that! )))
WOW! What funny! I was running there, but here in Brazil we develop skills for these situations kkkk I didn't hit any of those many street-crossers. At least I didn't see anyone using cellphone while crossing.
Here's a thought . If a ton of people want to waste this kind of time and energy, why the hell don't they do it out in the middle of nowhere and get the the hell out of the way of people that have actual lives to live??????????
