I think that these people, who are from New Zealand, are very - very lucky, because this place looks so happy and.. I don't have words to describe it, it's just so free and happy
im from NZ and to be honest us kiwis don't know how good we have got it, look at all these comments of people wanting to come here, but we'd rather go to OZ and earn an extra five bucks an hour, i've lived there too and i hated it this is home !
New Zealand is what what humanity can be when we get rid of religion, hate, and ignorance and replace them with humanism, love, and knowledge. What a beautiful song, what a great place to live.
I'm from the states and they were playing a shorter version of this commerical for a while.. I'm glad it's gone because I HATE this commerical.. it makes me miss NZ(went to south island in 2008) and the fact that I dunno when or if I'll ever get back to that amazing, awe inspiring place... there are few places I've been in the world where the urge to stay was so strong for me :)
Pause at 0:28. One day I will live somewhere similar that in nz. But on a lake. And surf and go hiking during the day without a worry in the world. By night, listen to the wildlife and watch the rugby on tv :). Thats the dream. And it will happen, dont know when, but it will
James Stonley Hi, can you write down for me what the man in the video is saying? "legends say this land was hold from the ocean like a giant fish" is this correct?
it has only been populated for around 700yrs, whereas most of the other pacific islands have been populated for over a thousand years. Europe meanwhile opened up at the end of the last ice age, which was 10,000yrs ago... so in comparision New Zealand is a very young country
I first saw this back when I was 16 and obsessed with New Zealand and film so I thought this was such a great inspiring commercial, watching it more then 10 years later..is that really how many white people were in every add like damn that’s bad..what’s worse is as a white kid it wasn’t till I grew up more and started thinking about other peoples perspectives cause growing up race wasn’t a big thing we were all friends and race was just ur looks but as u start to see the unfairness of the world you start thinking about how unfair it was to not be able to see urself in the media and world you live in, it’s humbling
I remember watching this ad when I was a teenager, and fell in love with the beauty of the girl looking at the camera at 0:43. I wonder what happened to her?
ok. will do. my limewire isn't working at the moment for some reason...but i'm still looking!!=D i'm mad at iTunes for not having it. lol so if you can find it, let me know. =]
Yep, you downloaded the 'Youth Group' version of the song (I think they wrote it actually). Youth Group are an Australain band and although the versions sound very similar, they are in fact different. As I said, the version you hear on the ad is Milan Borich from Wellingotn band Pluto singing. Sorry to burst your bubble but you didn't buy this version ;-)
my god i wanna go there someday. im 16 and have my life ahead of me. i really would love to move and LIVE there... wow, cant wait. im spossed to vacation there or austrailia with my fam during the summer.... idk what summer tho :/
This song was produced exclusively for the NZ tourism board by Weta Digital (the company behind the Lord Of The Rings spfx). The song is sung by the singer from Wellington NZ band 'Pluto'. It was never - nor will it ever - be available on commercial release by request of NZTB. I know this becase I was working for Weta at the time it was produced. And no, you can;t get it on iTunes! Hope that clarifys for all!
@nzdirectors Yeah it is. The unification of the Italian states didn't happen until 1867. Before that, Italy technically wasn't a country. NZ wasn't set up as a self-governing body until 1840.
Edit: The original was written by 'Alphaville' apparently,a German Synthgroup. Their version is also available on iTunes although I wouldn't recommend it... sounds a bit over dramatic imo..
@nzdirectors The region was populated yes, but that doesn't make it a country with any sense of unified identity or boundaries. Provinces (many of which are now governed by France) were constantly fighting over who owned what, which is why the reformation happened in the first place. Anyway, history isn't necessarily defined by people. That's like saying NZ had no history before humans arrived. I think the ad is referencing that, like many Pacific countries, it rose out of the sea not long ago.
Hey everyone, When I'm done with Business School in 2012, I'm gonna be moving to NZ.. But when can you apply for a Visa? I seriously doubt you can do it 3 years in advance, but could anyone please help?
You can't get a commercial copy of the song... did you read my last comment before you posted? It was never released! This song has only been heard by the public on this ad. Everyone got it? You can't get it!!! Unless you know someone who works at weta digital and who doesn't want to work there anymore.... if you know what I mean ;)
@nzdirectors Dude, I'm not the one using metaphors. There was no such thing as Italy when NZ was discovered, read a book for Christ's sake. They were a collection of fiercely independent states, much like the Balkan and Soviet nations are nowt. Anyway, I don't really care if you agree or not. The only reason I made the comment in the first place was because I found the phrase "youngest country on earth" a little ambiguous. Thank you for helping me prove my point.
I respect your right to your own opinion. I predicted you would say what you did to. It still makes absolutely no sense whatsoever though. Genocide is something that creates misery for hundreds of years after the fact for descendants of the victims and inherited privilege for the murderer's descendants. The past effects the present. Hard to move on when people try to sweep it under the rug as you want. Your argument is beyond weak and you know it.
Ummm.... I think you need learn a bit more geography- aborigines? You don't seem to realise that New Zealand and Australia are completely different countries with their own seperate history and indigenous groups. I mean for starters most of the kiwis in this add are portrayed as maori or part maori. The "pretty white people" are clearly the tourists visiting the country. Also I would suggest reading up on NZ race relations history (not australian) before making anymore uninformed comments
