Constable Hurn is back with the Field Training Unit for a stakeout, search warrant, emergency driving, a great arrest and an officer is spat on. It's a big week so jump in and ride along.
These videos are a huge reason as to why Im going to apply for the police college next year. These vlogs and the police college videos are amazing. Cant wait to potentially put on the blue uniform in the near future. Wish me luck!
Hey there, I love the vlogs as they provide an insight into policing in New Zealand. I might not live there but these vlogs just keep pulling me in. Keep up the good work and I can't wait for future vlogs.
Hi Danielle, So Community Patrols are a cool option, they run in lots of areas and are a great way to get involved. In terms of your other questions, Recruitment would be the people to talk to they know the process the best. - Constable Hurn.
It’s great to see you again Constable Hurn! Also it’s kinda fun seeing you in an FTO position! Keep those boys in shape and give them a few good lessons, all in good humor and management of course 😜. Haha have a good day 👍🏻
Feel like I've been waiting for this forever!! Love seeing what you guys do even if you can't show everything, helps people like me who are wanting to be a police officer in the next few years.
I take me hat off to you; the way you consistently remain calm and respectful when dealing with abusive people. I start having palpitations just watching/ hearing you have to deal with it. Well done.
I often see you boys heading out when I'm walking off to the bus! On the same road as the police station, I've called out a couple of times but you guys seem hella busy. Keep on going out the vlogs!
Hey Johnny, love the vlogs... Still waiting to come across you at a job... I'll make sure next time I'm working out of My Wellington to Hi-Low the station just for you. 😉
So unlike the UK it seems you have a gun. Not that the Uk doesn’t have guns, it’s just you have certain officers with guns.. and you guys have them all the time like cops in the US? That’s awesome. Love the videos. So good to see videos from other countries. Love. From the US
Question, besides your issued vest and attached items. Do you personally have to wash and maintain your shirt, pants, socks and boots/ shoes aswell as pack them with you at home? And what other items are you allowed to purchase and utilise when on duty e.g flashlights, watches, gloves and eye protection etc?
I store my stuff at the base but yep, we wash it and maintain it, if things need adjusting or fixing there is a place we take them. My boots aren't standard issue I bought them, additionally the flashlight some gloves and the G-shock are mine. Police do provide boots torches and some gloves but I've got my preferences. - Constable Hurn.
@@newzealandpolice thanks Constable Hurn, another question sorry but where or which websites, stores and brands do you then look at for buying your preferred gear?
@@venomsnake225 www.thecopshop.co.nz has some good boots, torches and other gear you can purchase (Some requires you to be a member of Police, but not much). store.tactical.co.nz/ is one that my workplace uses :) Really quality gear here!
I’m so glad Steve got the location wrong cos I always wondered what if you’re not so great with location/street names? Does it just come with time? Aaaaand how do you’s not laugh at funny passengers? Do you go through training for this?
America and all other parts of the world can learn a lot from our cops. NZ Police are the best example of what police should be. They're very down to earth and have very good communication skills that can solve many issues without even escalating. They prevent a lot of incidents just by the way they handle it.
Question- but first hi u guys do a great job to our community thank you 🙏 ok the question is some cops turn on their siren and drive only a short distance and then stop? Why do they do that? Are they allowed or? 😊
A few more questions for your Q&A 1.What’s life like with friends & family outside of mahi? -Are you still making a video on this ? 2. What’s the chances of getting a permanent job / role straight after completing police collage ? 3. Can you touch more on shift patterns and times ? I know you mentioned in one video it’s 222/4 just wondering what other shift patterns there are and if they’re 8 or 12 hour shifts ?
what kinda boots do you guys wear? as a security guard I'm on my feet a lot and they get pretty sore, hoping the police have figured out what's most comfortable and that you can share the knowledge
can you show the fuel consumption on one of the patrol cars? on the fuel computer... ive always wondered. I'd ask a police related question but you've answered them all!
The three main sirens used are: Wail - That's the long sounding one you always hear, designed to throw the sound in front of you and at a distance Yelp - That siren is the shorter sounding one you here used mostly at intersections, it's purpose is to throw sound in a wider direction to hopefully catch attention from all directions And the final one is what you heard in this vlog... Hi-Low - This siren is meant for when 2 Emergency vehicles are traveling together so hopefully people hear two different sirens and know it isn't just one vehicle to look out for... Something that is probably one of the more risky things when travelling under lights with another emergency vehicle. Hope that kinda explains it! Hi-Low is my favourite as well.... Kinda like a 'get the fuck outta my way siren' 😂
Did you have to hold the camera above your head at @5:24 just so you were in line with their height or were you standing on a stepladder?😂 I’m not picking on you, just curious. Glad you had the extra protection. Love you all, thank you for your service and stay safe! 😘
I just wanna point out that your mufty cars stick out like dog balls - it’s easy to tell with the red n blue lights next to the number plate - the small antanne x3 and the Radar as seen next to the steering wheel - speaking of witch probably a good idea to have that turned off when casing out someone’s house
kia ora constable Hurn is there any chance you would you be able to explain the assessment process and out of college training that occurs when the new constables leave college? cheers, Awesome show keep it up :)
Thankyou for the quick reply Constable Hurn!! The recruit wing series is excellent, i was wondering what the asessment process was after constables leave college and how you help them in their first few months on the frontline. Cheers!!
