New Zealand's BREATHTAKING Brewster Glacier (as a day hike) 🇳🇿

The Brewster Glacier is located past the Brewster Hut in New Zealand's Southern Alps, near Haast Pass, on the Main Divide. This hike is a not so secret gem in one of the corners of Mt. Aspiring National Park and we decided to do it as a day hike. Most people will spend at least one night at the Brewster Hut, but we tried to beat some bad weather that was headed our way and blazed up and back to the glacier in a day.

Hi Jesse! Beautiful footage. Can you please tell me which you found more difficult to climb- This one, Brewster or Earnslaw Burn? And are there any parts of the climb, on the way back down, that are super steep looking straight down? One more question, when and if you have time, how far to the glacier from the hut? Was it tricky to get down? Thanks a lot 🙏
@JesseStLouis
@JesseStLouis 8 месяцев назад
@jessicasinclair691 this one was steeper and shorter. If I recall the glacier was about an hour or so from the hut, need to be a good route finder. Earnslaw was just really long, not too steep from what I recall

Simply beautiful video. Great story with stunning location. Gee. I admire your strength in diving into that freezing water. You’re seeing parts of New Zealand that few people get to go to. Well done and thanks for sharing it.

Kia ora guys just touching back on tracks and trails, I'm pretty sure new Zealand uses the term track as man made, and trails are paths that have been made by early Maori or settlers back in the day parts of the Milford track are perfect examples, but don't quote me on that🤔love your adventures🤙

Some great footage as usual, Jesse. Thanks to you and Sam for posting these great adventures. I'll not likely get to New Zealand, but I can enjoy some of what it has to offer, through your eyes and, through the eyes of your cameras.

I didn't know that about mosquitos! I'm always a prime target for the little beasts so that bit of info is a real gem!
@JesseStLouis
@JesseStLouis 2 года назад
I know it applies to the sand flies but not 100 percent sure if it applies to mosquitoes as well. I've heard mosquitoes are attracted to the CO2 that we exhale whereas sand flies use visual attraction

Totally agree with your feelings about the sadness of losing glaciers. NZ incredibly lucky - and we won’t truly value what we have until they’re gone

I like your videos Jesse. But do get concerned when lots of people view your videos and others which encourages more people to go there which changes the nature of the place. And the reason why most people choose to venture into the wilderness. Primarily to experince nature for peace and solitude.
