We did the very famous forgotten world highway, New Zealand’s oldest heritage trail, this drive was mysterious and scenic.
It's only 150km from Taumarunui to Stratford, but it will take you aroud 2:30h to complete, as you go through gravel road, and will obviously stop along the way to really it all in.

Yeah, that's right. Going on a road trip, there are a few factors to consider. A big applause to you both for being so adventurous and courageous. Nice scenic views along the journey but at the same time, it's quite dangerous too. Oh gosh, that tunnel looks like it's not properly done yet. Hi, Thinking of heading up this road in a few weeks time. How much of it do you reckon is unpaved or gravel?

A little bit, can’t really tell how many kms but when we passed it it was in a decent condition it’s unpaved, we might have said gravel road in the video but English is not our first language and gravel and unpaved seemed at the time to be the same thing but we understand it’s not, couple of pot holes here and there but nothing major plus you won’t be wanting to drive any faster than what the road allows in some parts, it’s just to scenic to be driving fast ahah just make sure you have enough petrol for the journey 😉
