our WILD red deer here in new zealand actually came from scotland. the deer that he is "hunting" with the Hungarian genes or strains are on a game park (fenced off enclosure with trophys everywhere that rich people pay to shoot). It is very rare to see true wild stags like that here in new zealand.

Yeah, but in Scotland its too much a managed hunt. Here in NZ, anyone with a licence can hunt on public land and shoot a stag, carry it out or at least the best bits. No high price. It only costs the ammo. Bill's hunt is probably on managed land, though the stags are wild.
