It’s complicated but if you work on roughly 6 tonne per axle you are close enough. It depends on how many axles in a set and tyre types etc but most of the bigger trucks with the H permit tags will top out between 48 and 54 tonne GVW. Also with a lot of hills, narrow and windy roads you get way better turning and braking than a Euro or especially US style Semi … 32 or 34 tyres in contact with the road instead of 18!

@@Anna_KTZ well, I guess you’re not … but now that you do you can see that there’s plenty of new gear on the road 😎 The Kenworth K200 cabovers have a different style to the Euro trucks but they are very popular and plenty of them are brand new.

I believe over here in NZ our max load weight is around 50 tons, though a permit is needed towards the higher end of that. But if I wasn't mistaken, special loads can exceed that and go all the way to 60 tons, if using a 9 axel unit. A way to tell if it has a permit is the bright yellow "H" decal found usually on the front or back of a semi/trailer.

I much prefer the look of the American trucks. They look a whole lot cooler in my opinion, especially with all the chrome accessories. All European trucks look the same to me, some are just straight up ugly. In a time where everything is trying to look futuristic, its quite refreshing to see some old school retro styling for a change.
