Thanks for all the entertaining Zippo vids, you persuaded me to get my first Zippo yesterday! It's a regular street chrome, both insert AND casing are J 20. After getting one it's very hard not to look at others for my second!
Learning New Trix Every Day: I know all there is to know (cynicism at its worst) about Z!ppo lighters having collected them for over 45 years! Well before the dude in this video was even a twinkle in his mothers eye! Even before his mother was a twinkle in _her_ mothers eye! But this is the first time I've ever seen such a category A1 Capital 'E' for Expert way in which to fill a Z!ppo lighter! By standing the insert downside up in the case and then utilizing the case lid to hold the felt pad up out of the way! I was like WoWzerZ! Like...just....WoWzerZ!! Smart dude! Gets a 10/10 engraved on his merit badge! 💯
Quick mention on the dates. I think that Zippo Mfg Co will take the date up to 99 (2099) before changing to some other weird and wonderful dating indication. Why do I think this, because they'll adopt whatever is easier and cheaper to do, and this is it. Remember with any company, any idea or format whatsoever is regulated by how much it's gonna cost em! If they have to tool up for something then its gonna cost em, they'd rather stay as cheap as possible. I bitched an email to em recently about changing the bottom of the 1941 Replica by deleting the PAT 2032695 with "1941 Replica" stamped on instead!! I told them how shoddy the 1941 Replica now was!! I mean come on... it wasn't made of steel like the original, hadn't got a tighter chimney gap like the original, hadn't got a straight cut flint wheel like the original, hadn't got a flat cam (no indents) like the original and now hasn't got the PAT number like the original...the 1941 Replica is anything BUT a replica! So do what I did and lobby ZIPPO to get it changed back!
