Over 8 years of not riding a motorcycle I decided to buy a liter bike! What was I thinking? Today was my first ride and I feel very much like a newbie. So much to learn....

@Ahmad Indeed they do, I told my buddy his bitch was cheating on him (with proof), he of course got mad and denied but a few months later he showed up at my front door and hugged me and apologized. The truth sucks because it hurts but through that pain you come out stronger.

He's a braver man than me. I picked up an R1 a month ago after not riding since 07'. A month of crack of dawn Saturday and Sunday riding before I rode midday traffic. Rode all my normal routes with minimal traffic to get used to the bike. Previous bike was a old 90 something gxr600. Big leap to the 05' R1. Respect the power.
@beamdoctor5637
@beamdoctor5637 7 лет назад
True respect the power, I still have my old 1999 R1 and still respect the power. Exiting a corner leaned over; hard on the throttle in 2nd or 3 rd gear still takes some restraint just in case I hit some slippery pavement. 17 years and counting and this old R1 . Better to be safe to some degree than sorry and high side. I remember back in the day many guys crashing them because they were so powerful and light compared to previous bikes.

Ogre Doug ...u r right, the R1 is certainly not the best beginner bike, especially for someone who wants to keep up with the other guys that r fast. Me, I know who I am and what I am risking everytime I start my bike, and that makes me a very aware rider that doesn't push my limits (which are pretty big right now).

A Gilles shift support bracket will help with shifting also. It stabilizes the gear shaft and reduces missed gear changes. If you can find one it'll run you $50-$100. The sc57 is a great machine.

It wasn’t until I got my motorcycle a couple days ago and have been riding that I realized why people say don’t buy a big bike as your first one. Sure, if you don’t screw up, you’ll be fine. If you never accidentally drop the clutch too fast, or accidentally give too much throttle in a turn, and never accidentally do anything wrong, you’ll never have a problem. But I’ve come to realize that in certain situations when there’s a lot going on around you, I tend to sometimes accidentally give a little too much throttle, or Mis judge my clutches friction zone, and I’m safe when I do that because I picked a slower bike. But in a liter bike? I imagine I wouldve dropped it already because it’s not forgiving like mine is.
@YouTubeSupportTeams

so you are giving advice when you don't even have the experience of a liter bike. okay
@Valkyrie11b
@Valkyrie11b Год назад
@@RU-vidSupportTeams His advice is very true and completely logical. Liter bikes are way less forgiving when mistakes are made, and beginners happen to make a lot of little mistakes, and sometimes big ones.
@YouTubeSupportTeams
@YouTubeSupportTeams Год назад
@@Valkyrie11b any beginner getting on a litre bike is brain dead anyway. You don't just start from day 1 on a litre bike because you have the licence, but someone experienced on powerful dirt bikes or even a 125 and has been riding for a long time and has the maturity and respect for a powerful machine can certainly ride a litre bike in low performance mode if available. I'm not even bringing a complete novice into the equation, thats just mental. But MANY people have started on a litre bike, not that i recommend it at all, especially if they are under 25.

I know the feeling. A few years back I bought a used Yamaha FJR1300 Sport touring bike, and I had not ridden in over forty years. They had to deliver it because I had not gotten my license yet. I took the Harley Davidson motorcycle course over three or four days, but it still did not prepare me what the power of that kind of engine could do. I really didn't get comfortable with it for at least six months riding a couple times a week. BUT, after I got used to it wow what a ride. Just to test my skills I took it up to 130 one day on the freeway to see if I could handle it. Yeah what a rush !!!

Just a comment about one other guy I knew some time back, so don't take this as a comment on you or what lays ahead. This guy had ridden a little when young, some 90cc bike mostly off road. 12 years later after no riding he purchased a liter bike and rode much as you have in this video. After riding about 8000 miles with no accidents, he went for one of those great morning rides with the cool but not cold temps. About two miles from home, he was feeling really good and comfortable on the bike and confident he had dodged the problems coming up the learning curve. At a stop sign, he had something less than a 90 degree turn to make and decided to accelerate quickly (not really hard as he tells it). As you can guess an accident insued, the liter bike first broke traction at the rear tire and started sliding, then lifted the front wheel, the now experience rider naturally closed the throttle as quickly as possible and when the front wheel touched down, the bike tossed him as he also said 10 feet in the air in a high-side. Now if you can explain all the issue and conditions that led to the accident, you are ahead of the curve, but regardless you still are riding a machine that can kill and cripple the best riders on the planet so NEVER lose the respect it is due. Good luck and ride safe.

I live in Cobb County the charge is the book value. You're also required to have minimal insurance. QT is second to Chevron in quality of additives. Most sportbikes have sorry extension on the mirrors, and you can buy extenders on EBAY. Work on your counter steering so the twisties will be much easier. Your bike is a street legal racing bike, so that's what you will be riding.

The uk has a very intensive motorcycle progression system CBT-Theory-A1-A2-A with each A section having 2 modules. Specifically to stop this, very inexperienced riders going straight on the top most powerful motorcycles. Not being negative saying keep the speed right down (which I know you won’t haha) for a year to get used to it and not get over confident

Nice bike fella, yeah that 1000cc takes a bit to use after a hiatus of years, but You are handling just fine from where is sit. Just a quick note, I started riding my K100krs 1987 vintage last spring and I had a ball and still do. I am 75 and havent riden a bike since 1963 in Austria. Even then it was a 126cc puch scooter... Fast forward, bought this beast and dropped it a few times twice on low side and three other times by getting too enthusiastic with the front brake on gravel. Attached the mirrors back on fairing and off we go. It goes well over 2,, and it wants to rip my arms from shoulders, but it a whole lot of fun for a old crazy geezer like mw. Ps, your comment on lousy back mirrors, I got same issue, just dont bother with the back view so much hahahha

8-9 years without riding isn't a big deal if the person's got 20 years experience riding bikes. He just took a break for a while (probably into fast cars - like many of us). Then he decided to get back into riding a bike. BUT if you have NO experience riding a motorcycle I think it's STUPID to get a Liter Bike. You really need to get a solid 5 years experience riding smaller bikes first. I had about 7 years experience (on and off road) before I moved to a really fast bike, and I still had to be careful and take my time.

Did 50000 miles on this CBR RR yes 50 thou! Best Bike bar noe the only other bike near this was my CBR900RRN wwo that was some bike....the RR5 is so forgiving, it wheelies whilst running in! Corners at 140mph are easy de to the steering damper....had brakes stripped and rebuilt at 40 Thou, only problem was the Honda supplier at build stage supply the wrong alternator which blew crakacse gasket and burnt out...twice! Had a professional alternator rebuil which solved it. In the wet on new tyres you could go as fast as you liked! Stopped on a dime and accelarated hard when neded....in side by side encounter kep ahead Nissan GTR and DESTROYED a caterham who thought he was fast! Geared for 186MPH if you wanna go that quick....on a track of course! Standing start 0-100 just over 5secs...insane lean angles if you are good enough...ripped off my right side footrest cornering at 70mph once and didnt crash either! Great bike..sound ed awesome with standard pipe!

You should not be on a bike like that when your have that much lack of confidence. Riders like you that get into accidents due to in experience is why insurance is so high. You should have started on at most a 600, and that even pushing it. Just keep safe, respect the power and stay alive. Peace buddy.

So in America you can get your license and go straight to a big bike? because here your restricted to 650cc or less for the first 2 years.....some crap about safety, cars are the same depending on the power to weight ratio but I had my car license before all that crap came in luckily. enjoy the ride dude!! keep the shiney side up!

You can learn on about anything. Getting the right motorcycle for the type of riding is more important....
@Gimmeyo

@morganslove1
@morganslove1 8 лет назад
Small bikes can do more harm than good. Ride a little bicycle compared to a big bicycle. Little bike is more nimble, lighter and has less room for body movement. Big bike is heavy, has more power and movement is not restricted.
@MrNurseinTExas
@MrNurseinTExas 8 лет назад
@Brandon Silas, huh? I gave you a thumbs up initially. But a bicycle is ALOT easier to learn to ride than a motorcycle. This is also why all motorcycles in the MSF course in the United States make you learn on like bandit 250. Big bikes are more restricted, not less. But it depends also on the bike. A supersport will have a wider U-Turn radius than a sport-touring. I certainly agree that getting the right motorcycle for the type of riding (and rider) is important. This guy sounds older too. Maturity and knowing limits can really help new riders like myself know boundries. For example when I first bought my ninja I was super gentle on it. "Chicken Scratches" ya know. And every day I went out riding and leaned it more and more. I worked on the maintenance and learned the bike. And now I can ride out a wheelie and need to upgrade to a larger bike. Fun stuff. #bikeLife

it all depends on the person. i my self literally shit my self on small bikes. why? wind. it wobbles a light bike around, unlike a heavy bike. and i just hate constantly shifting up and down. do a favour for your self, try a LOT of different bikes, and choose one that fits you.
@Gimmeyo
@Gimmeyo 7 лет назад
I just rode a friends zx6 and noticed the same thing. Felt really good in town whipping it around but soon as I got on the highway I was a little concerned. Bike got pushed around a lot from the wind. Guess its something you have to get use to.
@nagyandras8857
@nagyandras8857 7 лет назад
i shit my pants honestly. on a bigger bike this issue was simply non exsisting. but it may not fit the bill for everyone, so i think its best to try different ones, a lot of different ones from a wide range. not all bikes are equal, and not all the people are identical. there are better and worse matches. my guess is a good match is the best. even if its a 1.4 liter zzr for a starter, or an 50 ccm scooter for someone riding bikes for decades. (do notice the sarcasm, i would find it highly unlikely someoen would start on the 1.4 zzr. )

Same story of the guy that barely knows how to ride buys the fastest bike he can and has nowhere near the ability to use it at even half its potential. smart with the safety course I'll give you that. but honestly man, if you need to work on your SHIFTING then I personally don't see why you have any business being on a SUPER BIKE, maybe even a 600. I was well into my 600 days before I even hopped on a 1000. If you haven't even gone HALF WAY up the rpms, and your already saying it's got "crazy power" you're clearly not ready. I know I'm being a snob, but this stuff is important to me and seeing a fellow rider who diffinitely has the potential to be a great one doing something like this breaks my heart. and trust me, I love what real power feels like! but I took my time and learned a few things before I got on something with 180 plus horsepower.

Josh De voe not everyone thinks the same way. Perhaps he does not have the money to change bikes 2-3 times while hes riding out that learning curve. Or perhaps he is like me. Me personally, if i set my sights on something. Anything else is going to pale in comparison. Say for instance i really wanted a new dewalt 20v drill. And someone said here man have this brand new free 18v makita. I would still likely end up purchasing the drill i had intended to buy. Even though i have something that works just as well, with a little less power. There is a reason i have not purchased a motorcycle lol. I would love to own one. Ive been drooling over R6's for years. But knowing my predisposition to open up throttles. If i bought the bike i wanted as my first bike. i might as well make the first ride on it straight over to the monument place to put a downpayment on a super cool headstone. Yet i know if i buy something smaller to learn on with a little less oomph i wont be happy with it from the minute i buy it and therefore that excitement would not be the same every time i hop on it to go for a ride. So instead ive decided to live vicariously through youtube until i feel like i can trust myself to not use every last cc i have available to me. Lol This guy seems to totally respect the fact that he is riding 150+ horses and that he is by no means a professional rider. Its all in attitude. He got the bike he wanted. He can learn on it just as well as any bike as long as he is careful. and its a bike he can be happy with for the rest of his riding career. I mean Can you even get bored of a litre bike? Apart from like fighter jets and drag racing where do you go from there!?
