@@strawberryicecreamm XG has a similar concept to kpop (the singing and dancing) so it's easier to compare them with it. as a former kpop fans, and believe me, my jaw dropped when i discovered "shooting star", i didnt know a girlgroup could slay that much hahaha
Yes, I would love American groups again. But they don’t last very long as they are often formed too quickly, whereas most K-pop/J-pop idols train together for years before debuting in a group. XG, for instance, trained for 5-6 years (starting at ages 11-15), during which they learned how to effectively communicate and resolve conflicts maturely, a much needed crucial skill for group dynamics I would say. And that’s what American groups have been missing.
So XG is a global group they do not want to be under K-pop or J-pop umbrella. They are incredible and the very first Asian group that I’ve EVER listened to and I’m Asian. You guys should listen to every single song, mixtape, dance move videos there’s a whole playlist. Let’s go Alphaz!!!
The reason groups do better in Asia is because they train and live together for years before debutting, so they become like sisters/brothers. Even if they do solo projects, they usually still stick with the group. Blackpink's members could all have solo careers, but they chose to stick together (for now at least).
i don't think its that, since western groups could easily do that too and i still don't see it working. i think (just my speculation) western culture just lays a bit more ground for drama, insecurity and jealousy between members. especially since the media heavily encourages it. edit: youre also right tho, the length of their training must play a big role
@@xxxx-rx7co same with family. Here, grandparents, parents, over 18 kids, live separately. There, grandparents, parents, and over 18 kids live together until the kids get married!
If people didn't want boy bands, why are the boy bands coming back out of retirement? Why are old groups who broke up, getting back together to tour? Dude who said that it was the record labels forcing people to go solo got it right on the head. There is a difference between groups in the US vs what is out in other countries, and it's night and day. These girls are slaying it. Between their vocals, their rap line, and their dancing, and I'm looking forward to seeing your further reactions to their music. Sadly there is a bunch of hate towards XG because the twitter freaks are saying that they are appropriating black culture. Which is absurd. They are doing nothing but appreciating the culture.
They(two members) have in fact appropriated black culture but that was a mishap on the stylist. They have the most genuine love and respect for black artists out of any group from east Asia
For XG not to be White T’s favorite group, I respect the hell outta him for still considering them to be the best Rappers/Dancers ever in a GG! It is facts but most people who don’t stan hate to give them their flowers!
Hell yeah I would love an American boy and girl group that dances, raps, and sings at a high level, without no egos, that has good chemistry like XG, and just wants to make good music. Right now coast contra is the only rap group where they work together and if only the industry in America focused on them. But XG is that group it’s gonna be hard to replicate them.
Coast contra is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I’m also fucking with AG club and I still go back to listen to pac div, cool kids era rap groups as well. Hip hop did have a rap group resurgence in 2010 time frame. Young money, OFWGKTA and lots of others
Lo (sp?) is spot on with his insights about #XG. It's great that he's spreading the word to his friends. XG truly is the most talented and versatile girl group out there right now. Dive into the XG rabbit hole and have fun! ✌️
🔥 XG is your favorite group’s favorite group! 🔥 less arguing and more jamming out it XG! Take them down the rabbit hole. 2024 is year of the XG Rap Goddesses.
Real Alpha here since day 1. Guys please deep dive in XG and take a look at all their vids/xypher/vox. Also the X-tape #4 that just came out 2 days ago starting from Harvey, yesterday of Maya and today of Cocona. Tomorrow they’ll drop Jurin’s. There 4 rappers in XG and 3 vocal members. They can also dance incredibly good 😍 never miss XG.
No more groups like this over here is because the industry is not built for it. It takes a ton of initial and long term investment. Gone are the days of throwing Disney channel kids together and having the public lap it up until one of them inevitably goes solo. The kpop system trains and molds these kids for years. And their industry is modeled more like the old Hollywood studio system whereas the American music industry is built to throw money at what’s hot for quick profit. It’s just like the film industry. They’ll only throw money at established intellectual properties, like comic books or other bestsellers.
I am a Japanese fan of XG.Thank you for taking up XG.Your argument was interesting.I signed up for the channel.Left right were also ranked on Rolling Stone's The Best Song of 2023.Please other songs such as GALZ XYPHER ,shooting star and winter without you. Let's take part in their world tour together.
We know EXACTLY who the Alphaz in the room is LOL...let's see after watching the whole catalog which group is loved more by you guys. Versus reaction incoming? :D
If you watch and listen to old Jpop / Hip Hop, RnB songs from the 90's from groups like Foxxi MisQ, Namie Amuro, Koda Kumi, M-flo, Zeebra and more you wouldn't say they're like kpop. This kind of music style appeared in Japan decades ago when Kpop was still not established yet. Kpop is very poppish with euro-beats and electronic music while XG is very 90's RnB / Hip Hop with old Jpop influences. Nothing like Kpop at all.
lol I love how you guys tried to talk through things. That's what's up. We might not all "agree" on things however communication nowadays is even more important now. That being said, hopefully we get to see more XG content since there's some catalog to go through especially the tapes lol.
Bigbang and 2NE1 did a collab back in the day, so it does happen once in awhile. And speaking of which, XG did a 🔥🔥🔥 live cover of 2NE1's I Am the Best.
Thank you for this XG reaction! They are a group of talented and hardworking artists. They deserve the love. But in regards to the heated discussion, which I think needed to be had, I get both sides. But what I think Roy meant, was that most Americans do not want an "American based group". And that Americans prefer the foreign groups for the specific characteristics that they exude. I think that is due to the culture and system that the music industry in Asia has. America is too freedom and independent based. I do not believe American groups would necessarily exist exactly as depicted by these foreign groups. It's an interesting topic. But in the end I think money is the main issue. If some major music mogel is willing to invest and support an American based group wholeheartedly, it would be interesting to watch things unfold. Great discussion, though. I think a lot of people have been wondering the same things.
Just a heads up, they dropped their first mini album in Nov of last year. The song in may is a single. Love the reaction! To touch in the BB/GG from American arugment. Dude is dead wrong, the fact that Kpop is blowing up in the US is all the proof you need that Americans want that type of music. Though it needs to be at the same level as current Kpop or it wont go anywhere.
i agree people are more individualistic over here so it's hard for a group to make it without someone eventually wanting to do their own thing or do things their own way. 11:20 also yeahhhh the current music industry makes it tough for groups to sustain themselves... in asia, there are regular festivals/events/activities/music shows/tv programs etc for groups to make money or get exposure from outside of album/single sales - basically jobs and opportunities that don't exist here in north america. even if you don't necessarily hit it big over there, you can still stay alive for a couple years as a group just doing these things with a concentrated fanbase. but in america, it's harder to "make it" i think. idol culture just doesn't seem very sustainable here. and asian groups have already broken into our domestic market - you would have to be competing against these existing groups. it's a hard ask for american labels and producers lol
Agreed. When I stumbled upon this 6 yrs ago I was surprised by not only the number of music/variety/award shows but also how much idols interact with their fans, especially thru live streams & that.
A big reason I love groups from over there is because they encourage/allow their group members to do solo projects, while still being part of the group. They don’t just leave the group to go solo. But I 100% got into K/J/X-pop because it’s lacking in the West right now.
Also, Asian groups have everything: singing, rap, dancing, etc. and we’ve never seen that caliber of talent over here because we don’t have the idol trainee system they have. I 10000% would be down for more groups over here, but we’ve never had this much talent.
Love your reactions☺️ Regarding the discussion of why there are no groups like this in America (or in the western music industry in general). I do believe the market and interest for groups would have been much bigger, if the quality would have been the same. The members of both XG and NewJeans have all been trained within the “K-model”. That means they’ve worked very very hard, for many years, to be able to do what they do. They sing, they rap and they dance. They’re incredibly talented! Which of course is way more entertaining to watch, then a group that don’t have the same qualities. Looking forward to following your journey, down the rabbit hole🫰🏽
America is the largest music market in the world. To say that "we" would not support them is short-sighted. There are plenty of people out there in the States (and the Western market too) that would fully support talented artists in a group. That is the key-- the talent is not being developed and therefore is lacking. We have been passed by because of the incestuous music industry here and overall musical culture.
This song has a TLC vibe. In fact, the way Harvey raps reminds me of Left Eye…So talented. They can do R n B and dances so well as well. They are awesome. So much talent.👏🏽🔥🤟🏽❤️
K-pop or J-pop groups have been popular everywhere for at least the last decade. Their singing and choreography are second to none. In my opinion, it doesn't matter if you are a solar singer or a group as long as you are an excellent performer, people will follow and listen. Sadly the U.S. does not have the same type of agency support for the next generation's pop singers. All we see is a typical reality singing competition which I found not inspiring. These groups are professionally trained at a young age, and they live together for at least 3 to 5 years together. Only hardworking and committed minds can succeed in this competitive industry.
XG is Xpop a new genre concept by XGALX from AVEX JAPAN 🇯🇵. If you are interested in XG and how they were meticulously selected by Executive Producer, Simon “Jakops” a Japanese/Korean former idol born in Seattle, Washington. They get some ignorant xenophobic HATE because they are JAPANESE 🎌 who don’t have bad ENGLISH. #XG has already released a mini 🧬 album 💿. XG’s fans are called Alphaz 🐺🐺🐺. I became a fan after You Tube recommended their first Dance Performance Move 1#. I thought because I was watching a ton of Dance Crew…that XG was an elite female one. I would strongly recommend their Documentary Series “Xtra Xtra”…their Production Team is very Diverse. Simon has established close friendships with Producers in Atlanta so he has a Hip Hop & R & B ties who have worked with him from the beginning. XG are Xtraordinary Girls in every way. 👸🏻🎌🎼💫🎶🐺
JYP entertainment just created an American “kpop” group called VCHA…they just debuted in January with “Girls of the Year” followed by “Only One” in February. Please consider checking them out.
I'd love that, even if just swapping their rap & vocal lines & not one big grp. But was funny dude saying that's too many ppl when grps like Seventeen exist 😂
It’s not a wave, it’s cyclical. Everyone ages out of their tastes, careers in pop groups come to their inevitable ends. But there’s always a new generation of fans and musical talent in the wings just waiting for their turn on the global stage.
All of XG's tracks are in English. The cyphers and xglee stuff is a mix of English, Japanese, Korean. They just a "girl group' as they want to be promoted globally. Putting K or J before the Pop kinda diminishes that factor so let's refrain respectfully.
The guy at the bottom left,I think what he is saying is that since they are from overseas, they do it differently.People in the US don’t always put 100%, they put flashy stuff in their videos, twerking, don’t care about bars, they don’t train for years like people in kpop, they don’t have a company to work with them on everything, they don’t dance, sing, rap and all at the same time live on stage, they don’t even sound like their recorded track live, don’t put a lot of effort into music videos, etc.I never seen Fifth Harmony dance like XG, they do a little something but not much.
XG stands alone as X-Pop. Not k-pop not J-pop. That's why they get hate, they're in a category by themselves. They all speak English but aren't as fluent as Maya who went to a multi-lingual school. Boy and girl band didn't work in America because most of these groups don't have a connection like these K/Jpop groups do. They live and breathe together like a family while members in the group in America are individual agents. Most of these American groups individually don't even know each other and are forced to perform with each other. Groups like XG practically grew up with each other while honing their craft and they look out for each other like sisters/brothers.
Thanks for reacting to XG They’re a whole package group, they can rap, sing and dance, like a real dance crew, you can check the MOVES 1, 2 & 3 on their channel
Ohoh, I smell the cypher coming up ... Actually XG had a mini album at least, New DNA, with Hesonoo, X-Gene, GRL GVNG, TGIF, New Dance and Puppet Show. But album or not, releasing no less than 11 music/performance videos in 2023 (if I include the Tape and Vox series) is actually an insane amount for one single year. Looking forward to the next beef 😂 ... I'll throw in a fun fact question for this ... which artist had the second highest number of album sales in the US in 2023, only beaten by Taylor Swift? Answer - Korean boy group Stray Kids.
XG Xtraordinary is a Hip-Hop & R&B Japanese Global girl group. XG prefers not to be called a K-pop girl group. XG 7 members are Vocalists and Dancers XG speak 3 language, English, Japanese and Korean. XG sing in English. XG Rappers, rap in English, Japanese and Korean.
Your argument about groups was interesting, but you are forgetting one thing. America loves BTS. They are super talented; they are not infighting to portray a "Leading entertainer (like Justin Timberlake did with NYSYNC) and they don't have a desire to go "solo" and dissolve the "group". BTS and XG understand the power of a "group". The American culture doesn't really support group dynamics. Americans (groups) from the US don't last because of individuality and the desire to be a "solo" star. Not everybody is going to be Taylor Swift, Beyonce or Harry Stiles.
