So I always thought EC was keeping such a crazy eye on baby that you just see when they need to go and immediately help them go. With 3 toddlers this thought intimidated me bc I just couldn’t focus that much on one kid with three others running around-HOWEVER! I am sooooooo over fighting my three year old with potty training! I found some tips to EC that made me less stressed about the process and with the options you gave here in this video, I think it’s something I’d like to give a shot! I think the top hat potty is so cute, hoping this is a win for me! 🤞💜
EC doesn't have to be all-in. You can even just offer the potty each time you change the diaper. Baby will probably still pee some more in the potty, even if the diaper was wet. Especially once they get accustomed to the routine of being offered. It's easiest with a newborn, since they eliminate all the time! I never try to catch everything. With my babies offering before and after feeding was a good way to catch the poops. There are some great EC support groups on FB. 💜 Heidi
@EC peesy! My baby is almost 4 months old. I started EC at 5th week but had a potty paise .Started again a a week ago. The problem is he resists on sound association. He would control the pee on just hearing 'pssss'. I changed the sound to 'shhh" still he would hold the urine rather than passing it out. What i could do to overcome this? Anyone in the same boat? P.S at start he eliminated at the sound of psss.. but one day i accidently changed his position while eliminating pee,might have some psycological affect! just a guess!
Hi Sana, I haven't heard of that before of a baby resisting the cue sound. I would try offering the potty without making a cue sound. How are you deciding when to offer the potty? Is it based on your baby's signals? Or perhaps he doesn't need to eliminate at the times you are offering? @@ECpeesy i do it on basis of timing! Cuz most of time he doesnt signal or so subtle that it is difficult to catch! Ok sure i will try and will let u know

I understand that ec is helpful for preventing rashes,uti’s and helps communication with baby. But Im really confused as of why during ec why do we need to wear cloth diapers if poop still get on them? Also are the pads for preventive measures?
Hi! I like to use cloth diapers as "backup" while practicing elimination communication. When my babies were young we normally caught about half their pees in the potty. The other half the time they wet their diaper. If we didn't use diapers then the "misses" would have ended up on my clothes or the floor. Newborns tend to pee about every 15-20 minutes. Sometimes they would poop a little bit in the diaper and we would catch the rest in a potty. The wool puddle pads are water repellent, so they prevent pee from going through to the bed/floor/my clothes. I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions. 💜 Heidi
I've only used a top hat potty with a girl. With a boy you would need to make sure to aim the pee stream into the potty. But it could be tricky to catch poop at the same time. With my son I used the insert from a Babybjorn Smart Potty. It's a bigger opening and more of an oval shape. I would tilt the front up, to make sure the pee went in. @@ECpeesy thank you Heidi! I couldn’t find this answer anywhere 🤗. I have a 9 week old baby boy. I cloth diaper him but wish I knew about EC earlier. I also wish I had invested in more natural cloth diapers- 100% cotton and wool covers rather than getting sucked into pockets with yucky microfiber. But I am slowly selling my stash and investing into better cloth diapers. I actually was motivated by your wool videos and tried some wool covers on my baby today 🤓. Thank you for all the hard work you put into your videos!
I like to use some sort of waterproof cloth diaper at night. Something that is easy to take off and put back on. That could be a trifolded prefold inside a cover. With my third baby, expected next month, I am going to try some all-in-one cloth diapers at night and see how those work. 💜 Heidi
