I was 18 and totally agree with you. It was definitely the greatest atmosphere I ever experienced at St James Park and one of those "had to be there " moments
A couple of things I took away from this: 1 - of all of football's faults back in those days, it's sad that we've gotten used to players hassling the ref on a constant basis. Here it's just 1 guy and as soon as he persists on arguing he's off the pitch. It'd be lovely if we could return to that. 2 - that little ticker in the top right at the end brought back a bit of nostalgia I didn't think I had!
I was there in the gallowgate then had to have two replays at everton was working on the freeman hospital and the gaffer said if you go to match instead of coming to work your sacked so what did i do went to the match got sacked was not bother we won thats what Newcastle fans ar all about Newcastle till i die😊
@@anthonydent5798 no we won I am a Newcastle supporter, my point was Forrest agreed to play on because they were wining so no right to complain and get a replay
@@davidcook7743 Yes I knew as soon as I posted it. You won a second replay from memory. Forest did agree to play on but probably under a bit of pressure. And they probably thought they might not win a replayed match. Great footage though, I remember watching it as a kid.
When I worked for the PFA Pat Howard was my boss.I reminded him about this ...he was always evasive and felt a tad responsible for what happened. Remember Forest got KO d in the replay and Newcastle went to Wembley Oops Big Pat
Absolute bull. Most of these 'hooligans" were school kids who couldn't knock the skin off a rice pudding. We went from 1-3 to 4-3 with 10 men and Forest wanted it replayed with 3-1 lead and against 10 men with 20 or so minutes left. Own it, you got beaten....TWICE
I was at the match to, age 15, i was actually the lad who ran across the pich on yhe day, nothing to do with being a hooligan i was running away in a panic after getting out of the leazes end because of the crush and a police came running at me so i ran blindly across the pich. I did not realise till years later it was me on the start of every match of the day lol.
Can't believe it! This poor quality match should be abandoned the moment those scumbags invaded the pitch. The game was so slow, full of horrendous ball control and subpar techniques
It was nearly 50 years ago. Pitch technology was more or les non existent what did you expect? The football, stadiums, TV coverage and pitch tech you enjoy now is thanks to this era of ‘poor’ quality.
