I got one of these from my high school years ago. Unearthed it about a year back and it now plays my Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran records just fine. Crazy to think those artist were not born when the unit was built. Thank you for showing this example off!
I wished they would have used those in the talking book program for the blind. They would have to add the 8 1/3 rpm speed to them but it would be much better than what they had then.
Our school had a few of the ones that looked almost just like that one, but the cabinet was grey and the cord storage compartment was in the side of the cabinet. It had a nice warm sound to it. And yes, it was built and made to be fixed. I wonder what one like that cost back then.
Hi, I just got one of these from thrift store but it has NO sound...not even humming, nothing when I tap the needle either (I put in a good working cartridge too). Any guess on the problem? Could it be the tone arm wires messed up or would it be more likely the speaker/amp? I even tried using headphones but no sound there either. I’d like to fix this up but not sure where to look for problem?
Thanks!! I’ve never fixed a phonograph & I want to try. Can you please tell me what amp is need for the fix/replacement & where I could buy one I need for this model?
