I read a Facebook comment that sums up this hack nicely: How to take Charm out of a game 101. The repetitive drums played for both the normal plains and underground levels didn't help either. There's several other things I didn't like, but this hack was just overall really disappointing.
I'm pretty sure New Super Mario World U was a hack on the Wii U, but then they made a newer version of it on New Super Mario Bros Wii, and that is what this is.... maybe? I don't know, I'm just as confused as all of you are....

I think the hack creator accidentally muted the wrong instruments when Mario isn't on Yoshi. When Mario rides Yoshi an actual melody kicks in, rather than the melody playing normally and then drums playing when Mario rides Yoshi.

Because it should be on wiiu bc of one the title and 2 it only has 3 power ups which can be replaces on U, super mushroom, fire flower, super feather(which can be acorn suit), and P Ballon (which can be the propeller mushroom). Although i understand that you cant change the world map and newer wii is the easiest
Sort of an interesting idea to play a classic with a new skin and different powerups, but I'd still just rather play the original SMW. When I read the title of this video, I actually wasn't expecting it to be a full on remake of that game. My gripe really is the repetitive music. It's just the same few beats over and over and over and over and over and over and over. Not fun to hear. I respect the effort that was put into making this ROM though.
wise bwd14 How about no? This was made using “Reggie!” You have all the enemies and whatnot right at the start, so there really isn’t an excuse to have like 3 enemies in the entire game.
Wow. This... is extremely disappointing. Great idea. But overall, poor execution. I mean, they didn't even change the music and the one song they did change was used for ground and underground and bonus music and it was bad. The levels are good but the Boss levels are really when this hack falls flat on it's fat, ugly face to me. They put the correct boss... in the level title. World 1-Castle says "Iggy's Castle" as it should, and I was happy because I thought that this mod was finally doing something right, but then the Boss started and... it was Larry? They couldn't even be bothered to change the Koopalings so they're in the correct order... So all I have to say is Wow... just wow. This is so bad.
Pretty sure whoever made this just took Newer Team's custom assets and ran with them, regardless of whether or not they actually asked for permission; and the end result is still mediocre at best. Edit: To clarify, the music played during the overworld / underground sections appears to be the world "transition" theme from Newer SMBW, which is only meant to play when you're moving from one world to the next; for like, 10 seconds at most, and CERTAINLY not for the duration of an entire level
To those asking why the bosses are the same, it's probably hard to create custom NSMBW bosses with the code in the ISO alone, We will probably need a decompilation to get custom coded bosses
Things they missed up: -The... Music, please?? -Bosses are the same than NSMBW and they're actually not the good ones. -Yoshi is spelled ''Yoshy''... -The destroying castle animations are not that good, but... It can pass. Buuut I loved the world maps, tough!
Good remake, nothing beats the original, the background music really sucks in this version, certain things should have been kept, but overall its decent.
The hack has good potential, but uses a lot of things from the Newer Team, making it feel like a bad copy that only recreates World levels, I would have liked more effort on the part of the creator, I'm not saying it's bad it just needs improvements.

I ended up finding it along with a metric ton of other custom NSMBW ISOs, and, well, I collect custom genres 🤣. If you're interested, there's a site called romspure that has it and tons of other custom modded games but you'll definitely need an ad blocker cause it's a site riddled with ads, pop-ups and invisible overlays that are a major nuisance but with the right ad blocker extensions, they're non-existent.

I like 3D Mario better than 2D Mario. I appreciate the reminisce on classics, but 2D Mario just feels expired to me. I welcomed Super Mario Odyssey with open arms.
@JoJoMKWUTeam I respect any differing opinions. I'll let you in on a little secret that my cousin's taste in Mario is like yours. To each his own is what I say. But Super Mario Odyssey is a very popular game and made Nintendo enough money to fill a room. I will relate to you, the first time I played it I lost interest in it, BUT when I played it again, it grew on me and eventually became a game that I like better than even the Galaxy games which nothing topped before Odyssey's release. All I'd say is if you play Odyssey again, you may very well be pleasantly surprised about how much it grows on you.
JoJoMKWUTeam you should. You’ll probably like it better the second time. I did. Yes similarly to you I’ve abandoned it for a while but then I decided I want to play it again. What warmed me up to the game the second time was the memories it brought back of SM54, SM Sunshine, and SMG 1+2.

This hack is really stupid. First of all, all the music is stolen from another hack called Newer Super Mario Bros Wii. Newer Team should sue whoever made this. Secondly, the grammar is awful. Like 'Yoshy' and not Yoshi. Finally, all the bosses are still the same. You'd think that if someone were to remake Super Mario World they'll include all the original bosses.
