Great review - I was really impressed with the CV joint (looked like) used to allow power transmission through the steering angle. Really clever, probably really reliable, and low cost.
Took a rokon for a test drive in the 90s..never forgot that but the price did not allow me to ever get one..this is more "my speed"..the only issue I see at least where I go is the exposed chains front and rear..limbs and debris will get caught up in there..could be a issue..LOVE THE CHANNEL!
I've had a rokon rt 140 and a trail breaker. They are cool but ride like crap with v tread ag tires and you wind up walking them a lot but they make a great pack mule.
This off road transportation has been in production for a long time but this model is much improved from rokon and rokon is an improvement of it's predecessor ...nice work ..!
this is why I never owned one ..and this one goes a long way toward bringing the price down but at a cost of loosing some very useful features like the tanks in the wheels and shaft driven wheels instead of chain ... front wheel drive on a motorcycle is a complex undertaking ... it's bound to cause a price hike if done right and no I don't have stock in Rokon
Very interesting machine indeed. I do own a Rokon Mototractor and I love it but... I stay away from mud and water hole since the CVT is not protected from that and the engine is air cool. Thanks for sharing!
Well, I can see one area where they cheeped out... 6:25 They went the skate board wheel route for the chain tensioner/chain guide. That chain is gonna eat through it really quickly. A sprocket would have been a much better choice and lasted way longer.
I'm guessing this isn't available in the U.S. since I can't find anything on it besides this review. It would be nice to have a link to the manufacturer.
if they used a shaft for the front wheel's drive system rather than a chain, they could have had it have a moving splined section and given it front suspension for extra comfiness.
That is a great piece of kit would be excellent for going hunting deep in to the forest and an amazing price could definitely see me with one of those for my hunting trips
I bought a Rokon in 89 from a dealer in Logan Utah. It was down so frequently, that I named it Linda Lovelace. To be fair though, it only broke when I used it and was a mile or more from my rescue vehicle.
I hear that mechanical gas engine AWD motorcycles are a nightmare to maintain. For the non mechanically inclined novice rider a conventional RWD motorcycle is a better choice . If you must have AWD and the range is short and it's not a SHTF get out of dodge motorcycle than an electric motorcycle might be the best choice for a novice rider who isn't mechanically inclined.
@@louisbabycos106 yes and no. The AWD bikes and rear wheel bikes do not live in the same camp, so they'll often only be choices for folks with those specific needs. As to maintenance - new engines are far more reliable, but the longer a bike sits unused, or under maintained, the larger the chance for the carb jets to suffer enameling from the corn sugars in gas. I'm still waiting for an EFI version engine, or possibly a conversion for EFI. When it comes to maintenance complexities, the more parts the harder they are to maintain, so yeah. I took my Rokon down to the frame to address a U-Joint failure, and that was in no way a fun, or easy task. At the time I owned mine I was sad to find cheap hardware (nuts and bolts) that were already rusted in place. Warranty was another issue I found to be a nightmare. After 14 months and three mechanical issues, I was told they were due to use or abuse. Well, that being the case, an off-road vehicle is expected to be used in environments where the bike interacts with water, rocks, logs and other challenging environments. So unfortunately, I suspect still, abuse will be their default position, the same as when you buy a new Stihl Chainsaw, and it starts having carb problems. Anyone I've encounter as a Stihl certified repair facility suggests "bad fuel." After my 3rd saw failure I went with the EFI Stihl i500. No more carbs should be the chant of all small engine users.
Looks to be pretty well thought out. It needs more Highway Speed and more low gears for pulling thins.. Thus it needs a two speed auxiliary gear box. It also needs a snorkel on the air cleaner for an air intake much higher than it has now. The Comments in the Video said the air intake is under the seat but I can't see that.
I've been looking for a couple days how to buy one in North Florida. Seems by the time it clears customs, if you can trust the seller, it would be over $5k.
This looks like a copy of the Rokon Scout When you tested this bike was it as good as a real Rokon Scout? That was awesme coming out of the river and up that bank. Great bike.
Wish someone , would market a small, engine driven Eaton hydraulic master pump, and slave, to run the front wheel. Had Eaton pumps on my stump grinder, 30 yrs, run wide open all day, never had a problem.
I saw about 10 years ago a turbo diesel scooter from a company called hero in India. It had a front electric motor. I looked for it on the Internet quite a few times over tge years and i can't find it anymore. I guess they never put it into production.
I've owned four Rokon's over the years. Very neat concept, BUT they are now $10,000. Absolutely ridiculous and NOT WORTH THE PRICE. This new bike isn't built on roll pins in the drive train. That's a great thing. I like this new one better!
Very interesting bike, little improvements to be made,a bigger engine to increase speed on roads, adding led lights,it could be usefull to have these features for hunting, backcountry travels...Thanks for sharing this!
Time to build a Hybred two wheel drive bike with a electric Motor on the front wheel .. A small Lithium battery and a engine powered charger on board.. Eleiminate all the mechanical drive hardware to the front wheel .. just some wires.
Rokon owner here. Nice bike. The reverse feature would come in handy at times but it looks like the brake rotors and calipers are in harms way and could be easily damaged where these bikes are intended to be ridden. If I owned this bike, I would ride my Rokon and my friend ride this bike.
ROKON uses a cheap Chi-Com motor. You pay 8k & don't even get a genuine Honda or Yamaha engine! That's why I passed on a ROKON. They say its a "Kohler". Yea,....a Kohler sticker made in China! Keep it!
@@track1219 What about financially support the CCP? I personally don't like funding the very people who hate me and want to rule over me with the communist fist.
I own the older ROKON's built in the 80's with the 2 cycle West Bend Design Motors. Company was sold to Chrysler. Then Called Chrysler Super Bee 820 Motors. Used in many applications. GoKarts, Saws, Soil Tamp Jumping Jacks, Etc. They were very great motors. Then sold off to US Motors. They went Bankrupt. ROKON International was out of Luck along with our government getting rid of 2 cycle motors. So ROKON went with small gasoline type minibike engines. They are still great off road trail bikes, but expensive even when I bought mine. Mainly due to hand built in America and Limited Sales. Mostly Sold To Government Army's Around The World and Others Needing A Go Anywhere Vehicle Not Limited To Width Of Trails. If you can spend the money we'll worth it. They are not fast, 25 mph but not meant to be. Can climb anything & go anywhere you can hike on foot, but you don't have to hike on a ROKON & it will get you back. They Will Last Forever With Minor Maintenance. I Do Wish They Would Put Even A Honda Motor In There, Because They Are Very Dependable. Sincerely Mr T.
I was interested! Until I heard it had only 1 shock. NO thanks! I had a yamaha like that! Didn't like it. Hopefully others will! Thanks! TRY to have a good one!
Nice bike but I think it would be even better with a shaft drive system like a Rokon. Having suspension is an improvement over the Rokon which has none. Find a different narrator cuz you just can't understand that British dude , sounds like a foreign language.
Just wondering, how about an automobile starter motor with press of a button to engage front drive for occasional need for all wheel drive. Without all complexity? Or, how about inline 3 wheel ala rollerblade with rear two wheels in tandem drive, to articulate over logs. You have very good engineering skills👍 Good luck and thanks for sharing
When you turn, the front wheel travels further than the rear wheel causing the rear to push out the front. Great in a straight line but thats it. I may be wrong. Never ridden one. Haha
2000 dollars. That’s unbelievable. Rokon 2x2 ATV was sitting here with me and watching the films and omg, a look at death so scary that I went ahead and bought the MADE IN THE USA Rokon. Then when I heard the price of Scout I decided to buy a extra one and I am going to also get a Scout
Whoever buys this is gonna be so pissed at chinese manufacting lol. China cannot make something worthwhile compared to any other country. Theres 1 company of chinese engines i actually trust, and its a single 46cc two stroke engine.
