Seems like a generational divide thing. I know that this would be instant nostalgia for many Gen X & Millennials, myself included. The immediate mega-popular touchstone from that time that comes to my mind is Ghost Town DJs’ “My Boo”; that song was inescapable.
The weird frame-rate parts seemed like it was from the perspective of other people/animals. Super interesting way to show POV shots. Like the flies/insects cutting to each POV until we enter the mouth of the lizard. That and the circle of people around them performing, I loved everything about it!
NewJeans ALWAYS come through. We're getting 2 new songs in about a month, too, and from the snippet of Right Now that i've heard, we're in for more treats.
Just like TRC started bopping as soon as the beat hit and continued to vibe throughout the song, that was exactly my response when I first heard it. And, I have not stopped jamming to it. I happy dance to it 😄 The whole song is just fun. Great for the summer.
I personally needed to listen to the song without the MV in order to fw the track. First time listening to the song while watching the MV i was like "Oh no. This is not hitting for me". Pulled up Spotify for a 2nd listen and oh boy was I grooving with it! IDK why, maybe because there are layers and rhythmn to the song that I did not particular felt in the MV because of the visual distractions? But I was like "What? Is this even the same song? Is this the same instrumental?". Overall, it was a shock because for Newjeans, I loved ALL their songs on first listen (Except Zero lmao I still don't fw that track).

The song has really grown on me. FYI - HYBE has set age-limit 14+ restriction on this MV in Korea and in certain region-restrictions there. People are outraged but not getting any real answers, YT says it's set by the uploader.
@@honks9484 Keeping the view count down, it's also restricted in a few countries. Not sure if it's to sabotage music show wins, or if that's just a byproduct of wanting to suppress them in general.
I fell in love with 'How Sweet' on first listen, and that surprised me because I didn't really vibe with their music and sound up until now. And it seems to have unlocked their music for me, because I've been listening to all their previous songs since then and really appreciating it all! As always, thanks for a good and nuanced reaction. Agree that the Coke cm felt awkward though. Wish product placement would be less obvious in MVs as well as elsewhere…
HYBE has set age and country restrictions on “How Sweet”MV, resulting in low view counts. Please help spread the word. Additionally, HYBE is deleting comments.
My honest initial impression Audio release - wow song is really great. mv - fuck coke advertisement performance - fuck coke advertisement second watch - okay, the dance is great few more listening to the music - yeah it's great
Yea seems like the Hive music's trying to get rid of the new Jean's mom and new jeans. The company wants the new jeans gone out of people's mind slowly
@@WaitingForTheHook that's true He wrote a song in 2009 with this Japanese girl I forgot her name, but they're using a small small part of that song for their next release, So that's why Pharrell is credited he did 0 work with NewJeans as far as I know
@@WaitingForTheHook NewsJeans label ADOR confirmed on Monday that the American pop star is credited as a lyricist and composer of the K-pop group’s track “Supernatural." In a statement, ADOR explained that Williams “revisited his iconic ad-libs and bridge from the 2009 collaboration 'Back of My Mind' with Japanese singer Manami, which producer 250 has reinterpreted in a New Jack Swing style."
i have a whole theory on this MV. This MV obviously has religious meanings and even has to do with a certain war where the youngest “members” of a “group” aren’t here anymore. book of genesis + great flood vibes. lots of meanings in the numbers they use. lots of cctv and being percieved. etc. even references to other MV’s Oh yeah and a Korean Japanese “cult” called dahnworld
I personally didn’t enjoy it at first, it didn’t feel original. It sounds like a alternative version of the outro of ‘the aisle’ by PinkPantheress. This isn’t surprising, since NWJNS has been clearly putting the UK artist on their mood boards. ‘Get Up’ is a prime example. But, I do like it after a couple of listens, it isn’t anything amazing, the lyricism is a bit off, but it’s ok for the summer. Bubble Gum was something I thought wasn’t a solid track either, but that’s for another day. I’m hoping Supernatural will exceed the expectations of OMG, Ditto, and Hype Boy, which were my personal favorites from NWJNS.
Honestly, all their songs have been consistently like this so I don't understand why How Sweet seems off (?) All their songs feel like this I believe, they're catchy, they sound good, have good production, they're fresh, vibey- but lyricism has never been something out of the world, I mean, enough to be catchy. They have never had crazy twists in songs or anything. Their strong point is actually that, making simple but well-produced songs that are very very catchy, match their vibe, choreo on point and creative team at 100% always. It felt very NewJeans for me lol.
This is Miami Bass so its not a uk sound at all... to me nothing sounds 'original' from pink pantheress because ive grown up listening to the many songs shes sampled and if anything shes the one that doesnt sound that original to me because i prefer the originals.... newjeans have touched on miami bass before on supershy but it was pretty nuanced under the more prominent uk garage and dnb styles but it was there.. if you know miami bass you can hear it but if youre unfamiliar than it pretty much just sounds like uk garage. Also just wanna point out newjeans uk garage sounds more like the traditional late 90s souds of artful dodger, doolally or craig david than it does pink pantheress who has a more modern take on the sound when she uses the samples
Please stop promoting this video. The beginning scene of this video is an exact replication of the car crash that killed US singer, Lisa Lopes of the 1990s gg TLC. The replication was verified. The young ladies dancing in front of the smoking car is a desecration to the death of Ms. Lopes This image is disturbing to TLC fans. Again, please stop promoting this video. Thank you.
