Not entirely sure of the point you're trying to make here, as it feels like I'm just being asked to watch various clips from their music videos. Don't agree that putting out banger after banger ruins NJ's chance of success - it just keeps them and their music at the top of public consciousness more consistently and continuously. Good editing for a first video. Next time i would suggest a less clickbait-y title and a more cohesive and present essay.
exactly what i was thinking too re not knowing what the point of the video was. i also didnt get how them making songs that were commercially beating their previous songs is somehow stifling their success. the 'end credits' feel of the ending with bubblegum playing in the background was nice though
I think the reason why they top charts is due to their consistency while having their own styling in music videos. NJ gives you a myriad of stories with hidden lore behind the MVs which allows the viewer to keep watching. It’s the reason why Hypeboy, OMG, and ditto does so well. The more you watch the more you find out about the plot. Similarly with Cool with you and ASAP. In addition, they brought a whole wave of music to attention in Korea with Jersey club music and 90/80s genre which was very well received and not often done by 3rd and 4th gen. They weren’t the first to do it but they were the best at grasping that feeling and kept bringing that vibe each comeback.

This video is like going to a water park and getting upset that you got wet. New Jeans are a pop group, designed to make catchy hits. They use the experiences that performers their age would sing about and blend it with a nostalgic 90s sound…the formula has paid off so far I wouldn’t expect them to have a singer/songwriter vibe as that isn’t what KPop is built on.
bubble gum is their best song by far, I didn't really like their early stuff like attention, hype boy, cookie, whatever else, but their later releases are a chill, smooth bop.
Their lyrics actually have more depth than is apparent. Listen to OMG as if it were really about God. ETA as if the girl singing is the girl the boyfriend is hitting on. “I’m super shy, but wait a minute while I make you mine”, pretty confident for being super shy. There are layers to their lyrics that I don’t think most don’t realize. And. Then there’s the videos…WTH?
empty lyrics? WOW, kpop fans seem really confused. They are confused that flashy music and videos are inherently better than easy flowing songs with good lyrics and writing. While ador and newjeans are working non stop, there are people like you.
I thought when they first out in the public, esp with the ditto song, i thought new jeans was a 90's girl group that disbanded and reunited in 2022 or something as i saw a video of them dancing to ditto, ban heeso vid, they are all wearing white suits... Lmao after that they're songs are on billboards, i listen to their songs everyday, they're nice and catchy.
Honestly I like their repition when it comes to songs and although I agree with about the whole foreshadowing thing it is also good that the girls always have something new and fresh to dance and sing for the fans because I dont know about you but I hate when artist or idol groups continuously perform "that one hit song" like okay we get it. And personally again looking at NJ's stats I dont see them loosing any type of success, because you can use these same excuse on many different artist around the world and still they are popular and people love them and I doubt that the K-Netizens are going to let the group flop in anyway because apart from the whole hate train against Hanni and Danielle being foreigners, K'Netizens fricking love and adore these girls.
I'm an old Korean-American man and work out to a mix of mostly western music, but a few iconic k-pop songs. Hype Boy, which NJ even jokes has non-sensical lyrics, is pretty darn good. This youtube episode is kind of, how do I say, stupid. Saying that, I feel I need to listen to this whole episode, not pleased to increase the number of views by 1 but yeah, listened to the whole episode and yeah, stupid. Any group worth their salt is gonna have timeless songs and mediocre songs. Why hate on NJ right now, when they kicked butt in Japan with two new "J-Pop" releases, which were quite good? I don't expect Dylan-esque music but for light pop, many of their songs are quite good, in MY humble opinion. Thanks JeongAnnabelle, for wasting a good 15 minutes of my life.
To clarify... I am a big fan of NewJeans. they do have talent and what it takes to be succesful, but they are made to be a one time hit. That isn't to downgrade them, but i hope they can make longer lasting hit songs instead of throwing one after another so quick.
