Ngl another detail that can help to identify a T-62 is the fact that the turret is a bit furthet to the front of the tank

The T-62 has that old T-55A reverse gear bug but otherwise I would much rather drive a T-62 than a T-55A. The much more potent gun really makes a difference even against M60s.

Was really excited to see the T-62 come to the game. Would be neat to get a T-62M, which entered service in 1983, in future.

@robingrewal8103 I was thinking that, it would've been deployed first to Afghanistan, however if war kicked off with Nato in Germany they'd definitely redeploy to Fulda, so would still make sense in the current setting.

I believe the T-62M is NOT in current plans because it wasn't deployed to the Fulda Gap, where the game takes place. Next tank is probably T-80B.

@supersarge24 Yea. True, although there could be an argument for it since if the cold war went hot, then equipment could be redeployed to the area of a Nato incursion. Not to say it should or shouldn't be added, just that there could be justification for it.

I was wondering when we’d be getting the T-62. In my mind aside from the T-72 obviously, it is the tank that comes to mind when someone mentions Cold War Soviet Armor

if i remember correctly t 62 FCS disables turret control while reloading, so until the loader closes the firing circuit you shouldn't be able to power traverse

I'd imagine that'd come after FCS code refactor is done - there are some other things waiting on it too (guns indexing to load position, turret inertia, etc.)

GHPC continues to look better and better. I jumped on it a few years ago when I think they were still just on Discord and Patreon, and I really need to grab a copy off of Steam sometime in the near future. It looks like a fun game is getting even more fun.

I'm also from when the first Patreon was launched, I think by the time I joined the Bradley wasn't even added, did you ever received your free steam key?? You might have received one if you supported them in the development, that's how I got a copy

As someone else mentioned, turrets should be unable to turn when reloading, and I think they are missing Russian Loader comms, when reloading but otherwise great update

Only thing missing is the Russian voice line saying "Up" when reloading, but its a cool tank nonetheless. Basically a much more lethal T-55

As far as i know soviet loader lines were recorded but weren’t implemented this update, i think there were some issues with them

Thanks for the cool vid! Currently looking into this game. Can you elaborate on the use of Fire Support and Engineer capabilities? As it looks like these are kinda under represented in this game considering the whole combined arms thing. For example, there would be no defense without huge minefields and fires tied to that IRL..

Good question. This game is still in early access so there's still developing it as we go on. There are fire supports like CAS, smoke, and artillery that you can call on a map depending on the mission scenario, as shown in this video. In terms of engineering like recovery, bridging, or clearing minefields, as far as I know, recovery vehicles won't be in the game since those usually come after a fight. I can tell you that infantry is being worked on for the full combined arms experience. Most missions are from platoon to company size as they're still trying to optimize for larger mission sets. I hope this helps!

You did well in Rubber Mallet. Every time I try the mission the entire friendly force gets annihilated on or before the ridge before the town.

Not that I'm boasting but I've beaten it quite easily going in blind wih losing only 2 T-62s and 2 or 3 BMPs. Either luck or favorable RNGs.

@@ET42Driver usually my platoon does okay, but the company we're supporting seems to reliably suffer almost complete casualties quite soon after crossing the start line.

Wiat a minute... As much as I love the update and GHPC in general, but shouldn't the T-62 turret lock after each shot in order for the ejector to work properly? Also, no shell ejector sounds and basically them sounds are just slapped from the T-55. Also, the devs should add a puff of smoke coming from the ejector's door while ejecting an empty case as them 20kg and over a meter long 115mm rounds contained a lot of propellant and produced a lot of fumes. Hence another purpose of the shell ejector port to vent some of them fumes. Few shots in a row and the crew was choking with fumes.

Gun raising during reload is still in progress, it requires modification of the fire control code.

Nope. The focus right now is adding the content they need such as the gameplay mechanics , Infantry, west germans etc. According to devs, Interiors would take away their time, research and focus from completing their game.

I think game needs soviet T72 with better sabot rounds or just new sabot round for T72 and olso game needs Leopard2 or T80

The Group of Soviet Forces in Germany didn't have T-72s stationed. And the East Germans were given crap sabot rounds from them. Also, the T-80 is confirmed, and the West Germans leopards.

When you actually planning to add real counterparts of M1 Abrams, like T-80BV, T-80U, T-72B ?

T80B is already confirmed as planned. T72B is unlikely as it was produced after the games timeframe (early '85). It is worth noting that the M1A1 is actually outside of the games set time, and only the 105mm Abrams is in the game. So, the current soviet tanks in the game are the real counterparts to the M1 and M1IP. T80U and T80BV are unlikely to be added anytime soon, if at all, as they were only really produced in significant numbers after the games timeframe. It is possible though.

@pluemas T-80B (1978), T-64BM (1983), and T-62M (1983) would be the most modern the Soviets would realistically field, as you said with the T-64BV, T-72B, T-80BV, and T-80U entering service in 1985 itself.

@@157RANDOM I know the Devs picked the '85 time period so as to limit the western vehicles overwhelming FCS advantage somewhat (balancing reasons, it makes sense) by giving the Soviets access to the bigger gun, but Leo 2 with the 120mm will be an absolutely awesome display. M1A1 too if they decide to add it. My controversial opinion is they picked '85 specifically so that Chally 2 (1986 production) is outside the timeframe, because the thing was so ludicrously potent in a Fulda gap scenario. They could add Chally 1 with it's 120mm to the game, but haven't shown any intention to do so yet sadly.

@pluemas Yea. To be fair the Challenger 1 would still be incredibly powerful in the Fulda gap due to its hull down ability and the area's hilly terrain. But the 2 would probably be far too much. If in future they expand closer to ODS then the NATO equipment will be nuts.

@@157RANDOM the hunter-killer tracking feature alone would probably cause balancing nightmares. The commander slew system in the game is already pretty potent, but if it could do the Challys then it'd be insane. Calculating range, lead, and then automatically slewing to a new target when complete for like 7 targets. No tank on the field could survive a hit from its gun and it could out shoot them all too. Crazy machine.

What role did the T-62 take in the Soviet forces? My only exposure to it as a zoomer is that it's the lame (aesthetically) non-autoloader high tier soviet tank in warthunder.

T-64A can reliably kill the Abrams, which prior to it being added was quite a struggle to do in a T-72, the T-62 has a more powerful gun than the T-55, making it better suited for ranged battles with M60's, of which there are a lot of missions that have you fighting against the M60. it's also worth noting the T-64A can defend against the Abrams 105MM gun much more reliably and at closer ranges than the T-72 can, the composite array in the turret along with the glass in the front plate makes the T-64A rather difficult to kill when it's hull down, or, when it's moving across the front of the Abrams at certain angles, I've seen that "stopped by glass textolite" message in the AAR more times than I care to admit since the tank has been added, it can actually be quite the obstacle to overcome which can't be said for the T-72. the T-80 and Leopard have been confirmed and you could view the models in the showcase, plus more tanks in the game means you have to use your brain more, you can't just sit in the IR sight and point & click anymore, you actually have to identify what you're shooting at and adjust accordingly.

The t64 is a completely different tank to the t72, the t72 was developed as a backup plan because they had issues with early t64 (mainly the composite armour)

The T-72 in the game is literally the export version of the T-72A. The T-64A, though without the LRF, can fire a way better round and the armor is not degraded to export levels. And the T-62 has a way better gun than the T-55

@@robingrewal8103 the Leopard 1 is literally in the game as a model at the moment and is the next goal on the road map, you Muppet. Its just awaiting completion of the FCS and proper component modelling.
