Newova REACTS To "K/DA - I’LL SHOW YOU ft. TWICE, Bekuh BOOM, Annika Wells (Official Video - Ahri)" 

Ohhhh my god! I just had the biggest brain blast. At 2:29 when you're talking about the crystal like almost fractal effect they gave her, you pointed out something genius. Her tails had always been crystal like, but they use that in both the videos of the ep she's in! In More the crystal borders are more refined like a beautifully cut Diamond. But in I'll Show You they tend to be waaaaay more flawed. Almost like the cracks in/on a crystal!

I think this time they just wanna expand kda and see where it leads, and this video is about ahri and her story of success in the kda universe

so, ahri had a skin before called popstar ahri (not to be confused with POP/STARS ahri lol) and in the K/DA lore, they say that she was more of a bubblegum pop singer at a company that utilizes the "in-house" system in which songs, choreography, costumes, etc are made for the idol and they have very little control over the finished product. she had to dye her hair and ears blonde (and i assume she wears contacts or just uses magic to change her eye color) ahri did not like this because she felt like it was inauthentic and wanted to make her own stuff and write her own songs, but they wouldn't let her after quitting her old company and taking a break from the spotlight, she formed K/DA with the help of Evelynn and POP/STARS was a huge success, but after, the had a (fictional and real) 2 year hiatus before The Baddest and MORE in which there was gossip about K/DA being a one-hit wonder (see the news article she steps on). she stands in front of an empty audience to signify that she feels nervous about losing her success and not being able to have her voice reach anybody. the comeback was a success of course, but the time when she was a soloist still weighs heavily on her, and she feels a disconnect between the ahri of K/DA and "Ahri" herself. this is why there's dissonance between the happy tone of the song and the dark and depressing visuals/lyrics. she's split into two ahris. it also can be seen in the broken mirror/glass visuals and how she is shown staring at old photos of herself it's also a reflection of her canon backstory in which she basically is left abandoned and is sad about it, but finds out she can do the league version of getting high by consuming people's essence (kind of like their soul i guess), which basically kills the person. she hates this about herself but finds it difficult to stop. after accidentally killing her lover and an entire village, she isolates herself because she can't stand her own nature and how she benefits off of people's deaths. so yeah, ahri's character is super interesting. I've been writing a character study of her K/DA AU and how idols are often mistreated by the industry and the lasting psychological effects of being a k-pop idol. god i love this video

Sorry to be three years late, but you had the dangling question of what exactly the song's theme was. Another reactor made a clever observation that this was like Rose's "On the Ground" where both song express disillusionment with stardom and resolve to be more true to themselves. I don't know enough of the timeline, but "Ground" did come out three years ago and if it came out before this, it could have influenced the direction of "Show".
