My son was diagnosed with GBM in 2019 at the age of 26,5 and he lost his battle with this brain tumour on December 21st 2020. I lost whim 3 months after he turned 28. My heart breaks every time I wake up in the morning and remembering that he is gone.
Considering all the therapies Gord has been involved in and The Hips recent signing on with a medicinal Marajuana company to promote this natural therapy, I'm sure all of these treatments are providing life sustainability. With an open minded dedication that Mr Downie has this is so amazing. I wish and pray that Gords cancer is kept at bay and he may live for many more years to see his children grow and to see the changes being made in this country and indigenous people of Canada. I just can't... I have followed the band across two countries and several provinces and states over so many years. I have met Gord and fellas and I just can't imagine my life without him or The Hip in it. I just can't... *sob*. Gord, his family... they're all in my thoughts, my heart...best wishes and thank you so very much for the gift of yourself, Gord Downie.
I am relieved that Gord appears to be in the care of Dr. James Perry and Dr. DJ Cook and so many others. Gord's strength, the support of those around him and his medical team are matched by the loving arms of all Canadians.
I can't understand why any reporter would interrupt him when answering a question. It happened twice and I didn't even watch the whole thing. Cutting off the guy before he is done answering a question would be considered not doing your job as far as I am concerned. Love you, Gord!!!!
Widow. ....my late husband had 138 days, yes DAYS from diagnosis to death. A seizure happened further CT Scan revealed Primary Grade 4 malignant brain tumour. Ken was 61 years old never been sick, never had a headache. Tumour took over so for Gord Downie to be able to have treatment be able to walk and function and now tour and perform is mind boggling to me. Good luck!
It's so sad. You can tell The Tragically Hip have a loyal and dedicated fan base. That's the sign of true artists. When something happens to a member of the band, the ripples are felt throughout what seems like the entire country of Canada. That's pretty amazing. They're appreciated, not obsessed over. Huge difference.

Told my mom about this the other day. She knows someone at her church whose husband was diagnosed with glioblastoma and is still hanging on three or four years later. God willing, Gord will be with us for a little while yet. He is my musical hero and I feel like I'm losing a favourite uncle. However long he has left, I hope and pray his command performance for God will be an eternal success when the time comes for him to give it. (BTW, I'm American.)

I just seen on the news that Roswell hospital in Buffalo N.Y.has got a vaccine for this that shows very promising results I'm nor sure if Canadian Des ate aware of this but wish I could tell them just in case they don't.
