Knew he'd stay here. Vancouver has too much natural beauty. Swedes love nature and we have a Swedish GM and the Sedins on the coaching staff as well. EP would not find that anywhere else in the league. Very happy it's finally settled and Canuck Nation doesn't have to worry further about the chances of a Tchahuk 2.0 scenario. Meanwhile, Vancouver has dropped to 4th overall in league standings after a fair length of time at the top. Fingers crossed that EP will find his dynamic A game once again. Go Canucks go!

My takeaway: Management was able to get through to him, They need to know his number moving forward to determine what they can add at the deadline. If Petey was a ????? than you dont make certain moves because of the cap. Now they have a number to structure the next years around. I expect moves at the deadline. Podkolzin + our 2025 1st and 2nds (on conditions). A lot of teams are going to want former first rounds and top round picks as they lose players. You never know what other teams are cooking and who becomes available (Hronek) so having a struggling 1st and then next years 1st be available gives a lot of flexibility, since we know Petey is game for 8 years and at what number. This is great news today.

Great responsible deal for the Canucks at a time that really helps the franchise. The NHL's highest paid best team driving players like Matthew's, McKinnon, McDavid... all took a while time to hit the level they're playing at now. Petey is much younger than them and I strongly believe in time as Petey gets bigger, stronger, faster, and wiser he'll be the difference maker that those top players are now and even better value as a lot of those players will all be making much more than Petey will years from now. This is and will be a team friendly deal like Miller's (which is now a crazy bargain) that will allow the Canucks to ice the caliber team it takes to be a true cup contender over and over. Now hopefully Hughes, Hronek, Joshua, Lindholm.... all get signed to team friendly deals when their time comes.

SO happy to be proved wrong! - I watched Elias at the young prospects game in Penticton before he made the team. I thought they made a mistake drafting him, undersized and not that fast, even though the shot was there and the composure with the puck was obvious. In hindsight he wasn't really trying, or I shouldn't be an NHL scout. Seeing the future's not that easy.

Agree. I think Petey has to honestly no try and do too much more just yet. He's a leader and fantastic BUT he isn't ever going to be a Conner. It's an horrible mistake to try and expect that and I hope Vancouver develops him as the player he is. Vancouver has enough talent teamwise not to rush Petey too hard, and he and the team should get the best overall ROI for this contract. I think Toccet is the right man to understand this balance. This should be excellent news for the Nucks.

Missing DJ and Soucy is clearly showing how much those two guys contribute to the team chemistry. Having them fresh and healthy approaching the playoffs is actually a bonus..
