Totally agree with your comments, Jamie. Although Italeri quality is "weak" to say the least, just like Heller or Revell, they have hundreds of very valuable models you won't find anywhere. That is a potential for us the sentimental bunch. Great to see your back...!
Italeri already provide the F-35A and F-35B in 1/72 so it makes sense that they are completing the set with the new C variant. Also, I hope the AMX kit is good, I'd like to get one of those!
I love the Folgore….beautiful aeroplane. A quick side note; you mentioned no interest in vehicles and trucks but oh boy would I love to see you go all Mad Max on a big 1/25 Truck!!!
I'm thrilled at the MC.202 news- I'd added it to my Hannants watch list late last year prior to the box art reveal. I'll bet that we'll see several competitors release various mottled, smoke ring, and fried eggs camouflage masks. Hopefully, Barracuda will address this kit with some resin and it looks like a splendid opportunity for Stormo! to break into 1/32nd among their decal line. I was hoping for years that Stormo! would produce some decals for PCM's Macchi C.200 and MC.202, so my fingers are crossed again.
I can see at least 2, possibly 3 kits of the 202 finding a home in my stash: I already own the 21st century MC 202 and 205 so will be checking to see if converting this 202 to a 205 using bists from the 21st 205 will be "Do-able" Plus the 21st kits have some very nice marking options, including an early 202 with the "Fried Egg" style of base green with sand splotches and red-brown spots with the sand splotches. That scheme I have already done in my 1/48th 202 from Hasegawa. It's a pity u-toob won't allow images in the comments. Kudos to Italeri for this one!!
Been waiting for the Folgore since it was rumoured last year. Be my first venture into Italian aircraft so a bit of an adventure into the unknown but all part of the fun.

Lol On Italeri’s release period, it may be for several reasons: lack of regional marketing teams so they have to release on a stepped schedule, financial year end in the UK, Nuremberg maybe, staying away from major players so as to get their own attention……..or none of the above! All guesses lol I feel Italeri’s range goes up and down on quality and I would only buy one that had a largish parts number as I have been caught by low parts in the past. Again it’s an observation from a very small sample set. Do you have much of a ‘stash’? If so, to what sort of level? I ask as I have only been back some 10 moths and have nearly 40 in reserve, is this a thing we all suffer from? Was talking to a guy who has 20 year old boxes in his stash and another was wondering does he leave kits in his will, do we end up buying legacy boxes? I am 63 so that spoke to me! I built the Wessex too, as a derelict Pinger. It needed a lot of work to bring it up to the level of refinement I wanted but it was fun. I seem to remember the windscreen was a bit of a pain to fit!
@@thescalemodellingcafe Yes the windscreen is a nightmare, but my level of skill is light years behind yours so doesn't spoil my build . Do you have your Wessex on Flory Forum ? as I'd like to see your alchemy on that . I'm doing mine for Flory 1.48 Sig build so its just O.O.B I'm not brave enough yet to go to town with the weathering but I'm learning so much from your content. Many thanks Greg
I will probably buy the F-35C, if Tamiya doesn't come out with one first. Possibly the AMX as well. I've always thought of it as a Hawk with attitude. 😁 I'd love a modern mold Folgore, but 1/32 is just too large for my display space. Excluding the odd sci-fi build, my aircraft modeling is exclusively 1/72.

@@thescalemodellingcafe now if someone would do a 1/72 kit of the BAe Sysyems Hawk 200 series....the single seat variant...im siure there are probly conversion sets or short run kits but the ONLY plastic kit from a mainstream company that im aware of is the long out of production kit by Matchbox from 1986
@@thescalemodellingcafe i h ave that Matchbox Hawk 200 kit and its 1 of the best kits i have built in terms of absloutley no filler reqyired....and being Irish i have it in "what if" Irish Air Corps markings.
A non-modelling question Jamie - if the MOD decides to go for a split purchase of F35s, is there any reasons why the C variant bigger wing would be a better choice for the RAF?
Probably not, the wing fold is unnecessary and heavier. They really should buy all Bs so they can all go on the boat. That would be better for defence.
