Budget 2024 for the government comes at a time when assembly elections for three states are just around the corner and the BJP led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will have to choose between fiscal prudence and populist measures.
The Maharashtra government has launched welfare schemes such as Ladli Behenna, Ladli Lakshmi in the past year. The Eknath Shinde government recently launched 'Ladlabhai' days after the presentation of the state budget, which promises a stipend and internship opportunities to young youth.

More than a dozen bridges falling within a month in Bihar. Manipur having civil war for a year. Increasing terror attacks in J&K. We *are* seeing everything falling, this government has become just propaganda machine that is as arrogant as Congress.

Do you at least know the history of north east and its issues and post 2014 how many folds it is decreased? we see only terror attacks from latest status point of view but not what it was before 2014.... Terror attacks are limited to J&K, not all over the country. But still congress opposed removal of article 370. Hypocrites of number one order. That is what I am telling you, elect congress and give power to them for another 10 years and then people realize what is the best govt for the country. Congress is worst thing that happened to the country since independence, they ruined the country till 1990s with their economic policies where India has to put all the gold as collateral to get the loans. Do you know Indian gold reserves from 2014 to 2024 increased from 577 to 822 tons. It is pity people are again falling for congress.

And make everything 5 times costlier. Minimum wage works only in countries with small population. Would you pay 9000 instead of 3000 for maid. If you offer 10 or 12 thousand instead of 18 or 20 thousand for a driver would you find one. Do we have a regulatory machinary sufficient for a drastic policy changes??

I have been a BJP supporter, but let me put this formally, I find Sanju Verma's points distracting and misguided. Appreciate rajdeep's point that acceptance is the first step toward the solution.. In easy words - Hindi news channel debate strategy doesn't seem to be working for madam Sanju! Here. We really are facing unemployment just like the rest of the world but just not accepting that.

We pay so much taxes but get nothing on returns direct taxes such as income tax, indirect taxes such as GST, property tax, stamp duty, road tax, excise duty, luxury tax entertainment tax etc so reality is rich getting richer and poor getting welfarism and middle class getting absolutely nothing and welfarism must be done more on education and healthcare sectors atleast on education sector there is lack of proper infrastructure on government schools and hospitals so government taxes like european countries and give returns like underdeveloped countries and too much crony capitalism is not good for the country

Poor getting welfarism is a myth. They get schemes announced, then have to pay from their own pocket to avail these schemes. This is the case across states, not limited to one political party.

@@sauravsastry where does the "public" in PPP get the money from? And your issue was the lack of public infrastructure. I want to ask you, is the government so incapable that it cannot build one world-class school in every state today? We already spend humongous amounts of money on both education and healthcare. One can argue if it is enough for 1.5 billion people or not, but I don't think anyone can argue that despite presenting a budget of 2.78 lakh crore, Bihar doesn't have 278 scholars to show for it? Over the past few years, 60,000+ govt schools have been closed throughout India. Out of these, 40,000+ were just closed in UP and MP, if I remember correctly. The problem is not lack of funding or too much welfarism or welfarism in the wrong direction. You just check who the education and health ministers are, what they speak and how seriously they are taken in the government. You'll understand why we are in such dire conditions.
