Wow! - why are we told nothing about the company/school/whatever performing here? Suddenly RU-vid is virtually swamped with productions of this demanding show, many showing a very high standard, but this is at another level altogether being virtually professional. Starting with the on-stage performers; incredible! Movement/choreography/vocals from the highly-skilled ensemble are impeccable, unbelievably energetic and tight. "Seize the Day" seems as good as the Broadway cast.In fact, the ensemble in total, while omitting several of the most difficult gymnastic-style movements, is executed throughout with the precision and energy of a Broadway chorus line. Stunning! Solo performances are also great, as is stage management (usually overlooked in comments). Also, I've watched many productions here on RU-vid, but none match the high standard of acting found here where the characters and story are realized in full detail - not so elsewhere. This is a complex show and the demands of these complexities are met really well in every department, staging, orchestra, lighting and sound are all handled really well. Sound demands a mention as the requirements here are above that of most musicals. . It's a pity that with this being managed so well it's the source of almost the only (minor) criticisms - a small number of late cues (yes, I fully understand just how difficult are the requirements here, and small slip-ups are really exposed) also balance between stage and orchestra is almost excellent except kit drums are too loud in places with the rest of the orchestra sometimes fractionally quieter than they could be (much better than being too loud!) Mustn't forget the video - excellent camera work and vision mixing/editing. But why upload at only 480p? - this deserves 1080p! To round off: excellent everywhere but the dancing (with acrobatics) really stands out. Congratulations to ALL. But who are you?
It's likely that whoever uploaded is exercising a smidge of CYA. Rental agreements often prohibit recording productions, or, at the least, allow it only for archival purposes, or for families of youth productions, and certainly NOT for rebroadcast (e.g. on RU-vid). Fines for copyright infringement can run quite high.
Great production. All the actors really have a major handle on the dialogue, comic timing, and the vocals. Awesome voices across the board. This Jack looks like a linebacker and he is perfect. Audio problems at times but a sensational crack at what has to be the most produced HS production in America . This is way up there with the best best of them. I love that we have a sister in Davey's sibling. It works big time. The performances are Broadway worthy. Thank you whoever you are :-) Love the way the director 'spaces' the actors on stage. I have run out of superlatives
I love a lot of this cast but the girl playing Medda WENT OFF. Oh my Lord. Normally whilst I like that’s rich I find it a bit filler and often skip in on the soundtrack but this was amazing
Just found this. It's my favorite musical, and I've watched it by many schools. You are a Middle School?!? Makes this excellent performance phenomenal! Outstanding job wherever you're from! 👍
This is my opinion. Agree to disagree. The girl who played Les did an amazing job! But that role is better played by a boy then a girl same with Crutchie.
Excellent production. But, the lead would have never been a leader during this era, racially speaking! In fact, he wouldn't have even been allowed to be a carrier at all. And he could have just forgot about being greeted in Santa Fe anytime before the late 1950's, early 1960's! Especially before or during the civil rights movement.
This- this is a musical where news boys dance and go on strike- it truly does not matter what ethnicity or race plays any of the character. The only race I care about in newsies is racetrack higgins
