However what happened on Jan 6 2021 wasn't an insurrection, it was a riot. A stupid idiotic riot, but not an insurrection. At any rate, by the end of the 19th Century the "insurrection clause" wasn't being enforced anymore. There were ex-Confederates serving in Congress and during the Spanish-American War two former Confederate generals, Joseph Wheeler and Fitzhugh Lee, were appointed major generals in the US Army by President William McKinley, a Union Army combat veteran by the way. The fact the "insurrection clause" wasn't being used against the people it was intended for should tell you something. And I'll ask again, where is the video evidence showing Trump telling his people to attack the Capitol?
