My day job is as a video game artist. And as a gamer myself, I'm constantly blown away by some of the high-quality art in modern video games. Today, I want to share with you the process of me taking screenshots from video games and painting those into watercolor.

I do this more and more now, it gives me an excuse to play a game (not that I need it) and experience it in a different way. Looking for cool shots and using them for a drawing/painting has helped me with practicing composition before even starting a drawing 👍

Great way to learn how they setup a scene as well ☺️

Thank you for all your content on the benefit of doing value studies. I am getting addicted to them. Of course they are so helpful but I love the way they look! I wonder if I’m heading into a monochromatic phase. Since doing value studies I no longer wrestle with color challenges. As you have said, if the values are correct the color becomes less important.

New subscriber ☺️ ... I don't work in Watercolour. When I paint I work in Acrylic. Watercolour interests me very much though, but like the introverted perfectionist that I am it does scare me. Hopefully watching your videos is going to help me try to watercolour myself ... but it will take baby steps. Thank you ☺️

I take the nicest reference photos from my big screen TV. I just pause the screen and take a photo with my cellphone. I don't know if it's legal but I'm surprised with the quality of the photos!

I notice that you are using several of your Craftmo collaboration brushes but you do not list them in your Materials Used section. Perhaps you do not need to be so modest😊 I have your brushes and love them! Maybe they are sold out? Would Craftmo do another release?

Does anyone know about the Copyright laws. Wether this is legal?

Fan art is legal especially under fair use. And this is transformative as well. I am also not going to sell the painting so this is no problem.
