Today I go to Copart and watch crazy people over pay for damaged boats. Follow me on Instagram / rebuilderguy Email rebuilderguy1@gmail.com #copart #boats #walkaround
I am about to complete the purchase of a 22ft sailboat in the UK for £650. I have been looking on eBay.com and I saw a 55ft sailing boat go for $5,55.55c. It's amazing what you can get over in the USA for your money. It's having the balls to sail the Atlantic Ocean back to Blighty though hehe. Maybe one day!😉
I noticed that too. Well at least it's not going to a another "Look at my free sailboat" RU-vid video. Admittedly the one he watched had a reserve of $25k.
@@ciaranbyrne62 Depending on what the retail price of the boat would be in the UK, you can transport the boat for about $8-$11k so you don't have to sail it across.
I'm being dragged through the mud here. We haven't seen the super boat in the water yet and your taking me shopping for a new build. Kudos, but dammit at the same time
They must have seen your refurbished Nautique and decided that they could make that one into it. Crazy thing about auctions, there's no logic to it. One day a mediocre item can go for top $$$, and the next day something that is worth far more go for pennies.
Funny you should say that! I've done a few auctions locally, and I watch what some of these fools bid. Just had a building materials auction. People were bidding crazy money, not even thinking to check how much they would pay retail of they were to just walk into the store. Bought some winter coats for the the wife and kids, got some for a decent price. One I wanted, some pair of idiots got into a bidding war. The "winner" bid almost $40 more than retail, plus he then had to add the 15% auctioneer surcharge on top of that.
Why are you complaining when you are the reason for the prices increasing? The millions of RU-vid watchers are getting into your business and driving your prices up. And, you know who wins? Copart! They are laughing all the way to the bank because they were smart enough to sponsor so many rebuilders to drive demand. Samcrac and others get Copart sponsorship - you may have as well. They are geniuses at selling their literal junk (in this case the word literal means it).
Maybe boats are just getting too high priced because there arent much left. The 1st and 2nd Malibu boats looked allright, and the Kawasaki supercharged would be really nice😄 But prob ruined engine.
Funny so many people over pay it is fkn nuts!!! Not to mention auction fees, and if you're not a dealer broker fees, and transport costs. Bought my wife a 19' GMC Acadia SLT1 AWD with 3620mi on it for $13500. TTL $15K. Estimated repair $7k $22k done wife has a practically brand new ride for 48% off retail. Paid for, and no payments still has factory warranty. Had the Vin number run through the dealer no restrictions. Any higher and it wouldn't make sense to buy. Reserve was $15,500.
Starting bid was $15k and that was already out of your price range? And it goes for $45k used? Some make little and some make alot. I know one that does make little and alot as they do there own engine repairs and build the racks and redo interior same a fiberglass repairs. Cost alot more when you send it to a shop or company. Maybe hire part time employee that knows how to do all the above. Will save you thousands which put more money in your pocket
That’s life, something that should be cheap is WAY overpriced. Too many newbs trying to get in on this, they are only driving the prices sky high and not making a profit.
People buying to keep and use are different than people buying to flip. No need to criticize them, the guy got a killer price on a nice boat and will get years of pleasure from it.
Wait, wait, wait.... in your last video you said clearly that your next video would be you setting on the lake dicussing cost and it was worth it. Where is that video, please?
@@digitalrailroader Yeah, that's the one. Shouldn't be too bad. Remove the tower, rebuild and reinforce the locations the tower mounts to, reinstall the tower. New windshield is on it way from Canada right now. Hopefully the undercarriage is not banged up.
copart isn't worth it much anymore. Too many fees and now they reduced storage days due to their typical greedy ways. I've also seen prebids from the SAME location go on for 5-10 minutes in increments, so the system isn't bidding on your behalf, it's bidding on Copart's behalf. NEVER PREBID unless you don't mind paying the max you entered
I've seen the same thing at other popular online auction sites. It's several things happening at once I think. You've got the P.T. Barnum targets that are born every minute, drunks, and possibly shenanigans on the part of the auction site. Add their fees, and transportation costs and the bargain turned into a ripoff pretty quick. With over 330 million people in the US alone, there are people with computers and credit cards that can show up on any given day and ruin the gig. Storage auctions went this way. They made a TV show or two about it and suddenly 40 people show up at an auction and several of them don't want to go home empty handed. They'll bid up crazy stuff and take out any profit. When they tire of getting ripped off and not making any money the drift away, only to be replaced by the next group. Good luck. I'm suspicious of copart for several reasons. On boats, why would they have a boat sitting in a lot for 2 years without listing it? They are playing you. They wouldn't get anything for them if they put too many up at once. They only put up 1 or 2 per week and drag that inventory out. It must work because someone just paid over $20k for a hole in the water that will eat their lunch to repair. But they can make a youtube channel with it?
You wonder why the bids are so high .... You and others (Tavarish, Goonz etc) are making 1000's of people aware of copart and other places and how to do this ... what do you expect, people see it and think they can do the same, you and others have to look at the bigger picture. your short sighted approach (youtube video copart = money) has changed the game. In the UK car auctions got the same many years ago it is now cheaper to buy locally than at the auctions. It is always the same.
Over bidding is pretty much why I got out of the copart game. A guy used to be able to make pretty good money flipping cars or just buying from them for a parts car. Where I'm from you have to bid 100 bucks at a time and a lot of dealers are on bidding the prices so high its almost cheaper to buy a road ready car and what not. Campers forget about it. Boats and motorcycles prices are so far out of reach for a person it's not worth it. RU-vid videos have also increased the word about copart causing others to bid at random and driving the prices up. Dont get me wrong I like your videos and those of others but buying from copart is getting rough. A lot of people bid on stuff they haven't seen in person so truthfully they are clueless on what they're getting into.
That standup is worth 3k used. I’m in the standup game but unless you get it for 1500 total after taxes and everything don’t buy it. And if so lmk and I will help you a ton with info on these things.
I have bought several cars from Copart. The more popular it gets the higher the prices go. Yes you can get a good deal every now and again but in my opinion they are few and far between. I check Craigslist and Facebook marketplace for projects also.
Cheers for showing us how it’s all processed think it went for 25k? Needed 6k for parts and a good clean and a trailer maybe resale value 56k ? Sounded crazy to spend that much but that boat looked great and that makes it easy to sell after fixing it might make 10k profit do ten of them 100k a yr for doing what u love cheers for the viddie buddy
It could be the youtube effect. I noticed it with cars years ago when Tavarish, Samcrac and B is for Build got huge. Salvaged titled cars are going for crazy prices from everyone trying to jump on the train. Annoyingly it has affected the normal used market as well. Wonder if we are starting to the see the same with boats.
Unfortunately because these videos the prices are going up on everything. I enjoy the videos. Just sucks just like the storage auctions back in the day before the shows.
Well, it's understandable. With all these rebuilding videos around people think that it's an easy fix and a great way to buy a great thing for small money. They understand that they were wrong only when it comes to real rebuilding and spare parts / works costs. Good luck them with that, anyway.
Love how you found the same boat in like-new condition with a trailer, tower, etc for only 5k more. Like someone else in the comment section said "Some people have more money than brains." lolol
Sure if I was doing rebuilds for a living I would keep my info to my self , putting your sources of used boats cars on here is a going to get huge amount of copy cats doing the same thing . I buy my restorable cars boat from private sellers not for resale but to drive and I get older good quality like an 22 ft searay cuddy v8 inboard with tandem trailer 1800.00 and 06 mint CT’s in diamond white for 2500.00 new tires brakes and safety low mileage was in Florida winters .
lol I see that sort of thing before but normally its some guys paid to bid it up this does happen on ebay they have stuff listed cheap then all of a sudden bids come in Private ones that take it to the original price asked of the items buy it now Price it really Sucks that they can do that of course they swear its not pre-arranged and as its a private sale it won't show who or what ebay names are bidding it up that's life I GES Can't Wait to see your boat doing what it was made for as I never knew they made such a boat as I'm from the UK great Vlog thanks
I saw something similar with a gtr few months back, 2 guys got stupid bidding each other, one of them ended up paying what was the car worth it with clean title ready to..
Remember that one mans' trash is another mans' treasure. There must be certain people employed by certain companies driving the prices up so they will go past reserve. I see it all the time in auctions that I frequent.
I saw that same boat going down I30 with ski boat and jet ski in the back good find right looks way better in person. Interested in the jetski build for sure
Hey I was looking for a boat with my dad and the boat for sale that you were using to show the people of what a similar one costs I have seen the company before and they put there boats way to cheap it’s most likely a scam they told my dad them buy them from actions I saw one that was broke(it was a 2014 Mastercraft x25 and it was missing part in the surf system) but for a channel like this and maybe some repairs I guess they would work The company is Morrison Marine Sales and they are really cheap like way to cheap most lily something working Like so he can see
After seeing the other things he has rebuilt, I kinda knew right away that he wouldn't get a pontoon boat as it's not fast enough. He is still young and to him speed is everything. He needs to learn to slow down and look at things around him.
If you go to online auctioning up in the middle states they go way cheaper because I think there not oceans around and big lakes they can't give them away I would try that when it comes to certain cars and boats its all about what the climate is like thanks for the video love all your builds can't wait till the next :-)
I was watching that 2008 Wakesetter for awhile but it went on auction the day before I left for vacation. it sold for $3,750! Hopefully it was you that picked it up instead
