One of the biggest challenges with be the temp... it’s winter at the moment, remember you wanted to keep away from the cold for the US challenge no avoiding that here! You’ll be going through the coldest part of Aus and we are forecast to have the coldest winter in decades 🤣

Good luck with the challenge, you'll do it, no problem. Pick up hitch hikers and ask them to cover the food and accommodation. There's loads of camping spots, for cheap digs. You can avoid the tolls by driving on the national roads and miss the highways, save another 50 bucks for emergency.

Had a feeling this might be the challenge. Having lived in Melbourne for many years and with family and friends down the route you’re travelling, the challenge will NOT be easy. The culture is very different in Australia and New Zealand than the uk and USA so I’ll be rooting for you. Jason - Simon will never be closer to New Zealand than when in Australia. Chuck him on a plane for 3 hours to do an Auckland challenge over a weekend. Go on, I dear you.

Just a tip mate, all the toll roads in Australia are electronically tolled. Enjoy it here! Dress warm, as it's freaking cold at the moment!!

Border protection is tight here in Australia , you will need to give an address of a place where you are staying whilst here on your immigration form. I don't recommend telling them about the challenge they won't like the idea of someone coming in with no cash etc. Backpackers from the UK are common here though , so tell them you are backpacking ( which you literally are!) And you will be fine. Sorry can't help , I live on the west coast not east :(
