Since launching the 777 multiple decades ago, the series has been hugely important to long-haul operations worldwide. However, in 2013, the aircraft manufacturer launched the 777X, a new era of long-haul travel, but what changes did it bring, why was it launched, and how has the new venture performed this far for the plane maker?

A 12 year delay?? It was announced 12 years ago. This is a 747 sized aircraft with 2 engines and better economy than the 777-300ER. You know nothing about aviation. Go to school and come back in 24 months.

It's like saying the a350 was delayed for 7 years.. The initial duration of aircraft development is not counted as a delay. The 777-9 was intended to enter into service in 2019 , that makes it a 5 year delay not 12.

Surprised you only mentioned the folding wing tip, with regard to new improvements to the wings. The carbon-composite wings are significantly different from the metal wing legacy 777s and I'd argue (respectfully) that the entire wing is one of the most noteworthy improvements. Anyway, not meaning be overly critical. Great vid, regardless!

It's funny how PMDG(the only Boeing endorsed digital aircraft company) also had its delays, like the 777X, and in a few days from now, the 777-300ER study-level aircraft is coming out, which will capture the hearts of all pilots who own a flight simulator and fly on VATSIM(ATC). Once the 777 comes out on the 25th for MSFS 2020, all aviation enthusiasts will be able to fly the 777 as you would in a real hydraulic FAA Type VII simulator. Anyone reading this who purchases a yoke/throttle/pedals and MSFS will fall in love with the 777. This is definitely going to work in favor of Boeing.

Thank for this video DJ. This aircraft had as much to do with the demise of the 747 as Any, in my humble opinion and is well worth a video of its own. The ultra long range of the 777 8 will snare this model a few orders in future, Im picking. None less from our national carrier-- to fill the routes the Dreamliner has been struggling with, distance wise, therefore enhancing our great airlines credibility...

There are many things that many RU-vid viewers don't know about Boeing aircraft production. Currently, Japanese companies are responsible for 21% of the Boeing 777's production, supplying the entire cabin fuselage except the nose section, as well as the center wing box. Japanese companies supplied 35% of the parts for the Boeing 787, including the design and manufacture of the main wings, and played an important role in its mass production. Regarding the production of the fuselage using carbon fiber, the Japanese side transferred the technology to Boeing's supplier. Regarding the production of the 777X, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries was preparing to take over the manufacturing of the main wings, similar to the 787, but Boeing decided to manufacture them in-house. Japanese companies have sided with Boeing and achieved improvements in technology and production capacity, but the rise of Airbus has put them in a very difficult position. Japan Airlines, which until now has only used Boeing jets, has changed its main aircraft from the Boeing 777 to the Airbus A350, which is a big blow not only to Boeing but also to the Japanese aircraft industry. Boeing should have learned from the success of the 787.

@christopherjared1277

.. The story told by Boeing might be a little different. Boeing was already far into the development of the 787, well, deliveries delayed to 2012. Boeing knew Airbus was going to respond to the composite 787 with an Axxx. However, the spec for the delayed 787 was fixed, BUT, Boeing was delivering around 80 x 777s a year, making lots of money. ... What Boeing decided to do was play chicken with Airbus, forcing Airbus to decide on a spec for the A350. Boeing could wait forever because of the huge number of 777s being delivered every year. Boeing dominated the market. Every year Airbus dithered on the spec for the A350, Boeing shipped another 80 to 98 x300ERs. ... Once Airbus announced the spec for the A350 as a size between the 777 & 787...well, Boeing also knew that Airbus had huge development costs for the clean sheet designed A350. The answer? Partner with GE (the cause for current delays in the program) for a new, super efficient 777 with engine... and a couple of other tricks. ... Once the 777X starts delivery, carriers will be able to have a WIDE mix of capacities ALL with crew commonality. Some fleets already carry all variants of the 787 & 300ERs. ... The capacity range for Air Canada, with all variants of the 787, starts with 255 PAXs on variant 8, all the way to 450 PAXs on their 300ERs. All with the same crews.

@johnchristmas7522
@johnchristmas7522 6 месяцев назад
The A380 hit the market late and the customer base changed, then Covid, but still the customers loved it even though the airlines didn't. Now Covid has gone and the 777x has a growing market with the point to point trend back again, in fact everything going for it. The only problem is will it be 777MAX? Same management, same ethos. As a passenger, that would be my concern. So I wont be one of the passengers.

Will this plane ever come out? It seems like it is always 2 years away, and god knowns how many issues it will have once first in service, until it is an actually airworthy plane, assuming Boeing is at least able to produce a plane that doesn't fall apart after fixing the design issues after each problem fundamentally. By that point who knows, we might see the A350neo first. The A350 has now been flying for nearly 11 years.

If Boeing continues to delay the certification for the 777X, airlines that have ordered the said aircraft may consider canceling the order for the said aircraft in favor of Airbus A350-1000 and A350 Freighter!

I realize fuel is the culprit, but what is this aversion to four engine designs? There's no need to go exotic. Just build them the way you used to. Also, each day that passes without a revival/replacement to the 757 is a descent further into the black hole of uncertainty.

@@SeanSoraghan Very true. But in the end, it's a model that's worked for more than six decades.
@jantjarks7946
@jantjarks7946 7 месяцев назад
There's no going back to 4 engines. Especially as thrust is raised so far already and new materials are so light, that a newly designed 747 probably would require two engines only. And a newly designed 380 would probably require three engines instead. But the main concerns remain, to fill such high capacity planes and access to airports due to the massive size, especially the width of the wings required for such planes.
