Yes arm driver support is bad in Linux and everyone deserves good battery life in Linux

They are not, I have a laptop with the Snapdragon 8CX Gen3 and the NPU has been locked by Qualcomm, my guess is they dangle this idea of AI running on a snapdragon NPU but doesn't actually release it.

i think it will be great at gaming...just look at the smartphone GPU's they are making...a smartphone could theoretically easily run gta 5 for example and they can run the remastered gta versions and most of these smartphones have a 2k screen...a chip designed for laptops will be way stronger, which means it will easily be able to run anything more or less

They have the NPU locked, I tried to run this software on my ThinkPad X13s with a Snapdragon 8CX Gen3 and it told me my NPU was locked.

Since its using shared memory i guess there is no problem about loading sdxl.by the way i was reading some article which scientist managed to run sdxl on a 6 to 8gb vram.so don't worry about vram too much.

It is but the SDK for it will tell you that your NPU is locked like it does me, so you can't actually use it.

@@isekaidev7803 Actually it does have NPU cores, they have been disabled. If you have been following what Qualcomm has been doing, you would know this. If you look at some of their new marketing material, it say like 15 TOPS, so who actually knows because they aren't even sure their self.

well I just checked official presentation of games working native on this x Elite and there were no cp77 - CDPR is a very unique company and they trying to implement the best features in game, so maybe there will be a chance that they will try to implement NPU to some tasks in game. Actually I will send them an e-mail xd They added intels features tho...

@Kaeto_Here idk bruh 8gen3 on s24u is only like 2-3% faster than 8gen2 in s23u if you do cpu stress test.. after throttling they both have about the same performance. Source: Velian speaks tech, youtube channel. A17pro according to apple is also not much better than a16 , there's only a 10% cpu boost.. and A17pro Is 3nm , also efficiency isn't improved according to Geekerwan tested spec 2017

@@wheely4405 well A17 pro is actually more optimised then 8gen3 even the res for this cpu is way better than 8gen 3 so if you are going for Android go for one which will be better thrn A17 that would be 8gen 4

Do you really really need the improvement in performance? If yes, wait for their new orion cores. If no, buy the S24U. Both are incredible and you will probably be happy with either of them.

I think it will support linux. it is going to use in servers. So I have high hope for this. Waiting for fedora to support on this cpu.

MC is running NPU or Neural processing unit and I don't know if the Intel one has a GPU, but new Intel cpus are also gonna get NPUs. NPUs are for AI btw

Take as much power you need just make it faster and also the gpu seems okish. Match 4090 performance or atleast 4080s performance

snapdragon was always a generation behind apple interms of cpu performance and ahead when it comes to GPU, what makes you think qualcom is behind AMD? Apples igpu outperforms rtx 4050. @@pedrohenrique-wb3ed

Only Intel is x86. The MC of the video is ARM and the secret sauce is an NPU which accelerates AI while consuming less battery

It doesn't beat the M3 Pro or the M3 Max chips. It is comparable with the base M3 chip which is fundamentally and i5 comparison in Windows land. So not really breaking rights per se.

They said at Snapdragon Conference 2023 that OEMs will sell laptops with it around mid 2024, it's not speculation
