This is one of my favorite YT channels. You create some stunning CNC. Also your way of covering your garage with black fabric for filming makes you stand out in a positive way to others.
Thanks for your support Chris!! Always great to hear from another Aussie 🤩 i would love to see a diy/consumer maker event here in Aus to meet like minded people!! You should jump onto my discord if you have time.
Another great video as ever. Well explained through the design process and it's easier to outsource machining to the experts when you don't quite have the time or capabilities yet. Look forward to the nex episode!😁👌
Can't wait for updates on the release of the Matilda CNC CAD project, any specific upgrades that you are working on in particular? I really liked how you made a led button control system that does different functions thats so awesome. I saw another creator that made something similar and integrated it into a joystick 🕹️ controller that could jog his machine, super cool 😎. So how's FluidNC working for you so far?
Consider rearranging the structure of your X - placing the heavier-duty extrusion in the middle means it is the least effective. If you believe the majority of the force will be downwards due to the weight of the spindle and Z assembly, place it at the top. If you believe it will be upwards as in drilling, place it at the bottom. Also, it would have been better to have the flat parts of the C facing the very top and the very bottom, but I'm not sure you can still change your design.
I appreciate your feedback! Yes I had many hours of contemplation regarding positioning of the cbeam and your suggestions certainly make sense!! I was considering that the back of the cbeam would have the greatest surface area to connect to the heavy cbeam and carry over the stability…. I unfortunately I’m too far into the build at this stage to consider changing, however maybe some fun experiments down the track!! Thanks for your input 👍👍
😄oh that would be amazing to be able to sell kits! Thanks for your feedback. I don’t plan to sell kits at this stage, however finalizing plans to release 🤩🤩
@NEWTechCreative Also, how do you figure out the lengths of the ball screws and linear rails? All In the design I'm sure. Do ball screws come in standard lengths that you design around? Thx again
The total machine build is approximately 5k AUD$. It depends on where you can get plates manufactured and cost of this. I have put together a huge amount of build docs since my last video that I will be releasing soon and includes a build of materials list with links, 3D reference files and technical drawings. I designed the machine on readily accessible items that can be sourced anywhere you are in the world also provided options for plates that can be laser/plasma cut to allow different options depending what’s available. I have some testers helping me with fine tuning before release.
Just came across your channel and happy to see the high quality content! You seem to be very skilled and creative and I am very impressed by your builds! A little bit too much form over function, a little bit too much science fiction TV-series look to your builds for my taste though. In both the builds and the filming / lighting. I'm very practical and pragmatic and anything which is just shaped some way for looks really doesn't cut it for me, but thats just me ;) . Though the creative skills and craft needed to make your stuff look like this are impressive too! I couldn't do it, even if I wanted. Neither the builds, nor the filming! :)
Thanks for your support @jumbleblue. I appreciate your feedback and kindness. I try to keep my builds unique and experimental…. That’s what I enjoy 😊 and glad that others also enjoy the journey!! 🤩🤩
It's great to have a study welded table frame but how can you disassemble it to pass though doorways and hallways to another room huh? Prefers it be bolt assemble type
Great suggestion! This would definitely be a worthy idea. In reflection, this would be a much better idea down the track…. Especially if they needed to be shipped 🤩
@@NEWTechCreative exactly is why other products have disassemle ready for moving to other room or shipping plus easier to carry it rather struggling with enormous weight of item
