At Windpower 2012 (June 3-6 in Atlanta, GA), Bonfiglioli displayed its new yaw drive, the 712TW. The new yaw drive, which controls nacelle orientation of a wind turbine, is a much smaller, more lightweight gearmotor with an integrated inverter. The result is a complete yaw system in one unit, which guarantees improved performance and delivers various advantages in terms of reliability and availability. The new yaw drive is ideally suited for turbines producing 3MW of power or more and can be quickly and easily retrofitted in an existing nacelle, without having to change the mechanical layout of the nacelle.
