My skin has never looked better using this. I have no wrinkles at fifty one and no more acne. My skin is nicer now than when I was in my twenties. I almost don't need foundation which I've been wearing since 18. I use this and then their really moisturizing moisturizer and also the pycogenal or peptides with sunblock (please use sunblock!) this stuff is better than the Avene version and less expensive.

I know 15ml is not a lot of product but if you buy 2 to get 30ml, which seems to be the standard size of serums, it comes out to about $30 USD. That’s still a decent price to pay for a high strength retinal serum. There are other brands that offer less expensive retinal serums (Naturium, Geek & Gorgeous), but the highest strength they offer is 0.1%. I’m interested in buying this to alternate nights with my tretinoin. Since I already use tretinoin, I think my face and neck would be able to handle the 0.2%.

Yes that would be a good value for a 30ML size, it bothers me that Ordinary made this small size product which is a waste of packaging just to sell at a seemingly lower price point. I will wait and see if they come out with a bigger size rather than purchase tiny sample-size bottles of plastic which is so wasteful.

I hope they are planning to add the 0.05% and 0.1% to the retinal lineup because I really have found retinal to be easier to tolerate and understand this to be true of many others. Perhaps TO will add a 30ml of the 0.2% in the future. I have mature dry/dehydrated skin and rosacea which complicates retinoid tolerance, especially when using retinol. I actually began my retinal introduction with Beauty of Joseon’s Revive Eye Serum Ginseng + Retinal all over my face/neck with it’s .02% level. I slowly incorporated the Geek & Gorgeous 0.05% and then the 0.1% and am excited to begin the TO’s 0.2% before trying tretinoin.

I just included it into my night routine (and i - hydration serum - La Roche Posay Duo M+ - mix the Retinal Emulsion with my thick face creme (either La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 or just plain Nivea creme) and since i have very dry skin i was skepical at first, but so far i totally love it in my routine!! :) maybe after like 4 weeks i'll try to use it on its own every third day

Please update us when you finish your tube on how the pump functions as you finish the tube and if you are able to empty out all the product. I worry about losing or wasting product with these small tube sizes if you are not able to empty all the product, that would be very wasteful for a 1/2 ounce tube. I'd rather pay more for a larger size tube, the excess packaging is also wasteful to have consumers use double the plastic for this product compared to standard 1-1.7 oz product.

Also Miss Ash I could tell it was already working when I woke up this morning (my 1st time applying was last night) I noticed my skin was already exfoliating😊 I had been using the Roc retinol correxion max hydration cream before I bought this. So now? I'm dropping that cream & will be just using this along with my Caudalie moisturizing cream. And my SPF during the day.

I saw somewhere the ordinary state that the 15 ml size will last a long time because you start with once a week and then build to twice a week and continue with only twice a week. Most of us would never do that. I can use tret every night so I would never use something over the counter only twice a week. I use tret on my face but may try this for neck and chest.

I've been using a 0.1% retinal from another brand that is double the size of this, but can go for up to 4x as much, depending on where you get it from. I can only imagine what a 0.2% would cost (currently a 0.2% strength is not available from this brand, as far as I know). Since The Ordinary is known for affordable products, I'd imagine this is why they're keeping this a 15 ml size. Anyway, the 30 ml lasts me a few months even with every day use, so the 15 ml shouldn't be too bad.

Yep😊 It had just arrived at Sephora yesterday (Tue.s April 23, 2024)! And when I went to pick one up (finally😊) the girl that was working there at Sephora said that it had just arrived on their shelf (yesterday)😊 In fact she was stocking them on the shelf at same time I walked in! She handed me 1 & I was so excited to go over to the check out counter to buy it 👍. Couldn't wait to get home to try it! And when I did it went on my face very nicely😊. I'll see how this goes for my wrinkles for the next few weeks.

I've been waiting for a good retinal. Such good news! I just had 3 delivered and will be trying now. From my experience with DRSQ's Advanced A retinal and Platinum's Night Peel, retinal is a killer ingredient. The Ordinary just makes it finally affordable.

Hi! I want to try this but I'm a little scared. I've been using the Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion for years and have also used the Retinol from Inkey list. Should I stop using the Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion altogether if I start using the Retinal a few times a week or just alternate? Can I continue to use Niacinamide (AM and PM) and PHA Toner (AM)? It depends on your skin sensitivity. I can use tretinoin around my eyes every other night so I could use the retinal from TO. But not sure my neck would tolerate it.

Some people will use it around their eyes but one should be cautious as the skin around the eyes is so thin and delicate and can be prone to dryness/irritation.

Retinal is not known to be very stable, it is also very difficult to keep it stable within a formula and as it should only be used at night I can understand why they would go for a smaller packaging. As a consumer at least you can have more trust that the product is going to perform until the last drop.I actually question other brands that sell products with this ingredient in bigger packaging. I wish they will just reassure us that it has been well testing to perform until the last drop.

I use a mineral powder spf. I just purchased this new one www.drmtlgy.com/en-ca/products/spf-powder-fair?ref=EUeKQQHDJnqt& and I can't wait to try it but powder SPF is a great way to reapply, especially on top of makeup. You could also use a spray spf as well but I like the powder method better.

it always surprise me how Este Lauder destroy the brands when it purchase them. 15ml is almost 20euros in Croatia, cmon....for basic package and no expenses for advertising, shame. Luckily there is Geek and Gorgeous retinal 0.1% 30ml. A BIG support to your channel I am loving it, please keep up with fabulous work :)

Did you use on your entire décolleté or just where your neck meets chest? I use .5 Tretinoin on face, have used .1 retinal on neck with no prob so think I’d be fine with .2 there but not sure how my chest would do. I’ve only had .1 sample of Avebe RetrinAL but it’s such a tiny sample, I never used on chest. Thanks!

Can anyone explain to me if this is the same the 2 % liposome retinal and ppm? I'm using dermafactory 1000 ppm retinal and im loving its effect on my skin, i wake up with soft glowing skin in the am and my pimple marks are disappearing plus i dont have breakouts anymore. Im curious if this product's retinal content is similar to another Korean Retinal product that has 2% liposome retinal coz its cheaper than this.

I use Retin-A ( 0.1% tretinoin ). I'd be interested to know how it compares with Retinal 0.2%. As I understand it Tretinoin and Retinal are both Retinoids but I wonder how they compare to each other where strength and affect is concerned.

The Avene is .5% or 1.0%.. it would be stronger and it’s a retinaldahyde vs retinal. So it has one less conversion to do than the Ordinary does.

Avene has 0,1 % and the ordinary 0,2% of retinal, so it’s obvious that the ordinary is stronger if compare the % of retinal. But the products with retinal from Avene work great too, I adore cleanance night cream from Avene.

I have slathered my skin in 1% retinol for 6 years. I tried this and had no irritation at all. I could use this every night. I tried it on my husband, who has virgin skin, and he had no reaction either.

Once it dried down I didn’t notice any transfer of staining (including my pillowcase). Although, if someone were sweating in the night perhaps it could transfer?

That’s true but having options is nice, especially since a Retinal is one step closer to Rentinoic Acid. Those that want something with that 1 conversion would have that option depending on the strength they are looking for. Regardless, it is at a good price👍🏻

The problem is not the price, it's that to get the 30ml of product you had to purchase 2 tubes which is double the amount of plastic packaging, which is wasteful. You and many consumers would have happily spent $30 for a single 30 ml bottle and used less packaging, placing fewer orders to help with compliance and ease of use/convenience.

@smilingismyfavorit But at the same time people forget that retinal is difficult ingredient to keep stable from the moment you open the product. A 15ml product will stay open less longer than a 30ml product. Yes other brands still sell 30ml product...but is their product still stable/effective until the last drop... For this type of product with such an unstable ingredient I actually appreciate the smaller packaging. Because in the end if the product works great I'll spend less time buying and testing other products I may not even finish thus creating even more waste.

Right! I use tretinoin and see no benefit at all in switching to this. However, I may buy it to try on my neck and chest because I don’t use tret in those areas.

I plan on using this for my neck/chest and continue to use Tretinoin for my face. The Dr. Dennis Gross Advanced Retinol + Ferulic Triple Correction Eye Serum is amazing for treating the skin around the eyes and lids. This could cause dryness/irritation so be cautious but it works great 👍🏻 I have heard a lot of great things regarding the Murad Retinal Resculpt Eye Treatment. I may try this myself 😁

Thank you for this review. I absolutely love the new retinAl, and I have seen a difference (the ones you mentioned) in just a short while. I also love this because I could not tolerate any of the other The Ordinary retinols or retinols in general. I have been on Allies of Skin RetinAl and converting to The Ordinary's RetinAl was like a duck to water. I still cannot tolerate retinOl. This new product is GAME CHANGING for me, and much more affordable than the Allies of Skin RetinAl product (which is pretty nice too). I used tretinoin as a teenager and it was a disaster because my skin did not like it at all. The staining doesn't bother me as I have a tanned skin tone anyway and dark coloured bed linen. The slight stain is gone by the next morning. To reiterate: I am OVER THE MOON about this product. The consistency / texture of it is just amazing. I can finally use an affordable retinoid without it giving me hell... Just a quick warning for people who are new to retinoids - this 0.2% is not a beginner product. It's nothing near a high retinol (1%) strength. It's much higher! It's probably (ie: actually probable) to be 10-15% stronger, so maybe a 2.5%-3% equivalent. In short, a triple to the strongest 1% retinol. Maybe a bit more. Don't jump in. Slowly incorporate.

I am so scared of using any kind of retinoids even a little retinol far away down to an ingredient list. I'm such a chicken about it but at the same time I have a good skincare routine that is effective so when I will feel the emergency to use a retinoid I know exactly what product I am going to use 😊 this one. Thank you very much for your honest review. The product seems to deliver the results with consistent use but I have to admit that the yellow stain might be challenging to deal with but the fact it goes away once you cleanse your skin in the morning then I don't see the problem too 😉

Aw you are so welcome! Retinoids can take some time to get used to but if you have a good skincare routine going and you are happy with it then no need to change it😊 TO Retinal is indeed lovely and worth a try if you ever decide to switch things up. It does stain but it definitely washes off (thank goodness) lol! Have a lovely week 🥰

No, I will continue to use Tretinoin on my face but plan on using this for my neck/chest. I was testing this on my face to see how it was.

I wouldn't apply this around the eyes or lids. Instead, I would apply it around the orbital bone where the crows feet

it's not rediculous at a $15 price pont. The Medik8 one in the same strength costs around $140 for 30ml. So with the ordinary you save $55 on each tube.
