You can also chew the fufu because it’s a swallow doesn’t mean you have to swallow it you can also chew it before swallowing.

@@sarhndrah2314 No, it's not. I am Nigerian as well and you can chew. Some people, as this comment section shows, might say you can't because that is what they have been told, but its not the cultural violation that it is made to seem. Swallow if you want to swallow, Chew if you want to chew...

You can chew if that's what works for you. There's no rule that says you can't chew. Am a full blooded Nigerian and i chew my pounded yam, semovita, Amala, wheat fufu, Eba etc. All these food are known as swallow

The reason you don't chew is because the fufu might over shadow the soups taste, you can light chew and swallow fine.

You guys made the entire scene silly by smelling the fufu and others! Why do people have to put food to their noses, so close to smelling them?? That is disgusting for any culture!!
