Om Mani Padme Hum ! May all beings be happy ! Mangalam ! Thank you for this wonderful video on the sacred village of Bodh Gaya ! It is a great Joy and Blessing to see the beautiful scenes and listen to the delightful vocals. The sight of the Bodhi Tree reminds me of a poem written by the Great 6th Patriarch Hui neng who said, " Nothing that exist is true, don't think what you see is true, if you think what you see is true, what you see is truly false,if you want to find the true,the mind free of the false is true. Unless your mind forsakes the false nothing is true where true can be. " What the Blessed Hui neng is pointing out is that perceptions of reality are molded by emotional and intellectual constructs that block true understanding to give rise to false understanding. For example---A butter fly is thought of as being a tiny insect that flaps it's wings and goes from flower to flower in search of honey but it's also an expression of nature that can not be fully appreciated because of the concept of butter fly. In short--while mind is thinking it's a butter fly the awareness of the totality of the moment is obstructed by the thought. Truly the Blessed Hui neng pointed this out in his poem to help Dharma practitioners deepen their understanding of reality. The Bodhi Tree is a perfect example of this quality---It's presence is felt as a tree but it's totality is missed because the concept of tree lingers in the mind of the perceiver. Om Buddhaya Namah. Om Swasti Jayentu !
