This song is a response to the critics (Rolling stones magazine, Time magazine) trashing his album. Supposedly this song is gonna be on his new album that he’s gonna release this year. The Rolling Stones have a song called “Pay Your Dues”. The Rolling Stone Magazine wrote an article bashing NF’s latest album because it beat Chance The Rapper’s album. NF released “Paid My Dues” as a rebuttal to address the article.

This is Nate's response to a Rolling Stone article that was horribly negative to him. He mentions that he knows he could wreck their lives with his words and they better give him their undivided attention. It's a very effective "NFish" verbal evisceration of crtitics who believe because he won't cuss in his songs he's 2 dimensional.
He has his Tim's in the locker and has opted for combat boots in this song to represent going to "war" with his critics. And I may be wrong but I really hope the ending was referencing a new album he is working on titled "Lost."

Lost is rumored to be the next album, as you may know by now you gotta watch closely in the video as there is alot hidden meaning, but he also leaves clues of new songs or albums in these music video, for example in the when I grow up video he hid a clue on receipt on drive thru on the release date of the song "time"
I thought it would be the next album because this most recent one was called the search. When your searching you can get lost aka the next part of the journey. Idk lol
