ARGHHHHHH!!! PERCEPTION!!! Intro III - Here we go! #NF #Perception #Reaction Apologies for poor video quality - lighting was a big issue!! Working on fixing this!
I missed the live🙁 you should outro next it really should have been an outro for therapy session. Outcast, green lights, and no name you should also do. I'm really looking forward to your reactions on the search album and his new mixed tape. I'm really happy your back your one of my favorite reactors. I can't think of another reactor that breaks down the composition of the music they way you do. Excited for what's next on this journey. Also patiently waiting for the falling in reverse the drug in me is you reimagined and I'm not a vampire revamped. I'm sure a lot of people told you to do the trilogy, but because of the fact that you are more interested in the music then the lyrics I don't think you'll be impressed by those. The reimagined and revamped are right up your alley though. 😁
“Get that stupid hat of your head when I talk to you!” This point in the song NF is narrating fear. And fear just told him to take his hat off. The only hat he wear is the one that says “real” on it, meaning that fear wants him to stop thinking real. Guys, never ignore your righteous conscience, never shut out the truth because it is negative, being real with yourself is the only way you’ll get out of deception, because it’s waiting in every corner of your “mansion”.
@@TheMuserResolute That’s what NF does that amazes me every time. I like to go in depth explaining all his metaphors and lyrics and video meanings, it kinda annoys people. I think it is so original how he narrated “fear”, one half of the song, and then interrupts himself. The way he is able to describe the spiritual events that happen in his mind, and bring down to earth, and relatable to a lot of people, just blows my mind. Music is the biggest for me. Honestly, NF and his friend and music producer, Tommee Profitt raised the bar for my standards on my own composition that it’s so hard for me to play now. But I’ll just have to get better at what I want to do. I’m not sure if you are up to date on the latest news about NF. But after releasing his mixtape, he made an Instagram post thanking us for our support and saying that he will come back in 10-12 years. Everyone thought it was a joke, but I think he is legit thinking about retiring. He is going to have his first son this year, and he made it clear that he “will not stay in rap forever”. I think it is kinda sad, since I have only known him for a year, but I respect his decision. Because, I know how much he fought against to stay out of the system and not be manipulated by today’s music society. If he thinks that he paid his dues and God is finished working in this area thru him, then that is beautiful, to me.
@@misikosisek well throughout the mixtape he keeps on telling that these are just left overs from the fifth album, therefore, it is highly probable that the fifth record is all done. That fifth record may be the last one before he decides to take a break.
You're right but also Fear is rapping most of this song, not NF. Up until the shovel hit, that's Fear rapping and NF responding. NF was trying to say that Fear essentially made the previous albums and that Fear wants to take credit, but NF is going to bury his Fear and rap himself, and use Anger for one song on the album.
Perception is where NF really found his voice and style. His first 2 albums were him growing and learning what he loves and wants to make his music out of. Perception and the search albums are his height as he grows higher as he moves forward.
I know you said you don’t have time, but I honestly recommend doing all his songs in at least the next 2 albums. They are too powerful to just overlook.
This is really representative of why Perception is my favorite album of his. Through a lot of the album, he takes these tropes, sounds, and flows that he’s known for, but consistently either improves them drastically or uses them to subvert your expectations.
I love that you pointed out how much clearer everything productionwise is because this really changed with Perception and stayed that way. And i absolutely love it, everything sound so crisp and clean and his voice is perfect for it. Also his vocal just hit another level with this album. I've actually been a fan of his before he even released Mansion but musically i think he rellay made a big step up with Perception and The Search. Last year a few weeks before the pandemic hit, i got to go to one of his concerts here in Munich and it was just magical. It's really nice to see him getting the credit he deserves from someone with your expertise. Anyways please keep up the great work, love from Germany!!!
Intro 3 give me chills every time. NF even tweeted “recording intro3 in the studio, goosebumps, so real for me”. Hey, I don’t know if it’s to early . I don’t want to be annoying. Two songs I think you really should not miss out reacting to are “Remember This” and “If You Want Love”. This is just me but I think that everyone of NF’s albums have 1-3 songs that’s lyrics are purely made of his recent epiphanies and his advice for the younger him. Those are the two songs from “Perception”. Not to mention that the music is just amazing. Thanks for your videos. I almost missed your livestream, so much for my memory!
Man, every time I see you unable to predict his change I get more and more excited for things to come. But, I'm also excited for what's already here. Cheers, Teach'.
Great video. I have no background in music and I don't even notice when a song is musically good or not, for me that is fully based on lyrics. It is so interesting to hear you being quite the opposite. Although somewhere I miss some lyrical discussion. Would love to see that, even if it isn't your ballpark!
I'm so late to this video, but I love it. Catching up on all the NF videos I've missed. But I just had to say I was amazed by your ability to repeat what you were hearing on the piano. Your reactions and analyses are truly unlike anyone else's I've seen, and I think that's so awesome. Keep this up, I can't wait to catch up to the rest of the album and see what you continue to do! Love it.
So, Perception is one of his best albums, which means it’s probably gonna be hard to skip songs to make videos on. So I’ll leave that decision to other viewers. I do, however have a request. As I’m sure you remember, in NF’s song ‘Mansion’ he collabed with another artist to do his chorus, Fleurie. Fleurie is an amazing artist and I would love for you to make some videos on some of her songs. Keep up the great work!
I appreciated the comparisons with all the different songs, also impressed how you could just listen to the keys then be able to to play the tune nearly spot on first try!
I must say that your channel is so very unique and as someone who is profoundly interested in music its like getting an example of how to listen to music. Very helpful. God bless mightily.
Love these reactions, it's a different take on nf's music with more emphasis out on the instruments and background sound, which is something Nate is a master at using.
The entire song excluding the shovel hit onwards is all through perspective of fear itself... Notice the reference of 'what are you scared of me, its embarrassing' I.e being scared of fear itself can be in of itself embarrassing, 'im flattered you put me in mansion but you should have told them right' referring to fear moving into his house years ago (mansion) and also 'is it me or the fear talking, ha, what a dumb question' ... everything about this song is fantastic and easily my favorite track
Personally I would like you to do videos for every song in Perception but if you plan to do a livestream then this is the list (imo). Video for: Outcast 10 Feet Down Green Lights Let You Down Destiny If You Want Love Remember This 3AM Livestream for: Dreams You're Special My Life Know Lie One Hundred
This intro seriously points out the battle that a lot of songwriters in dark music deal with. The battle of, “If I let go of my pain and become happy, will I still be able to write great music?”
This is for anyone new who may want to take the NF journey as we call it because he intertwines his music like marvel movies. All four albums is like a connected series. For instance in his when i grow up song, paid my dues, leave me alone, and why song, the black smile is the fake smile that he mentions in therapy session song. He hides eggs in his videos. In when i grow up song there was three hidden eggs in that song. A black balloon by the trash cans and in burger joint he grabbed at receipt that had the date and time of when his song time was being released. He had outcast name tag on in the janitor part from his Outcast song. Another example is in the search song he had cage in background he rapped in from his outcast song. Here is the song order: Mansion Album: All I have (video) Intro (video) Mansion Wake Up (video) Paralyzed Notepad (video) Therapy Session Album: Intro 2 (video) Therapy Session (video) Very important song. I just wanna know (video) How could you leave us-(video) have tissues nearby. Real song- (video) he pays homage to lil wayne in this song “ feed me rappers or feed me beats” but adds feed me both of them Grindin ft Marty (video) Oh Lord- this song gets referred to in returns two albums later. Great song Statement (he pays homage to eminem and drake in this song) Warm Up -single (hype song) (video) Epiphany- collab with futuristic. Video. Pays homage to meek mill. Green lights (video) pay attention to what he has written on the notepad at the end. Perception Album: Outro (video) pay attention to the video. It is like marvel endgame how he connects tons of previous videos in this. Intro 3 (one of his best songs) Outcast (video) Know- pays homage to eminem and 21 pilots Destiny One hundred Let you down (video) watch to the very end! If you want love (video) Remember this- 💎 Gems all over this track Single: No Name. (Video) This gets connected in leave me alone song an album later. Single: Why- (video) NF pays big homage to Big Sean as he uses his flow from bounce back in this and mentions Big Seans name and his album I decided. (This isnt nates flow he says) Also he has a ton of eggs like Dont mess with real music written on walls. Pay attention to all the writing. Additionally, Big Sean paid homage back in harder than my demons song he had the black balloons in it among other things Search Album: Whole album should be listened to but you can choose which you would like to do: The search (video) pays homage to Kanye West When I grow up (video) Leave me alone (video) Change My stress Nate Time (video) Returns- (hype song) one of his best for flow switches and word play Only Let me go Interlude then I hate myself song I miss the days No excuses (hype song) Like this Options (hype song) Thinking Trauma singing only song. Amazing Paid My Dues (video) It was to the awful article rolling stones put out because the writer was a big chance the rapper fan and was pissed NF took number one spot. Over 400 people bashed that writer in the comments lol Chasing -demo he did with a fan. Clouds the Mixtape- Clouds (video) Lost ft Hopsin (video) Story (video) That’s a Joke (pays homage to J Cole) Just like you Prideful Layers Drifting Trust ft Tech N9ne Also there is many good songs not on this list like Dreams, you’re special ect if you like him then take the time and go back through and listen through them all at some point. His lost in the moment song was just used for the promo for the new show called the equalizer starring Queen Latifah.🔥
HALFWAY THROUGH your video and I can already say YOU DRIVE NF FANS CRAZY!!!! Ok I know you did this a while ago but I’m just now watching. The reason you were driving them crazy even if they don’t know it is because you’re not listening to the words and that’s fine your music teacher And the music is incredible I agree lol. But I can see in your face you’re not even listening was being said you’re being overwhelmed by the music itself which is great because I’m pretty sure he helps Tommee Profitt his producer write it all. And he’s an artist so you still like the music and that’s good enough but I’m telling you right now especially with this video NF fans want you to listen to what’s going on because that’s why they love him I mean the music itself sets their emotion and they probably don’t even understand how much of their love for his music comes from the music itself. But consciously they like NF because he is real and raw and does something that people rarely do let you into his mind and writes with passion because it.
Welcome to perception!! This song actually doesn't have much to do with Outro, it's really all tied to Mansion (the song, not album). I'd recommend listening to Mansion again (particularly the third verse 🙂) and then re-listen to this with mansion in mind. Thanks for another great reaction!!
Don't know why but i found it way to funny when you laughed about "i thought you were digging my grave" then "smack" and your face drops. Love your perspective and knowladge you give. keep it up !!
Thanks! I’ll be on it soon 🙂 just moved houses and any videos I release with my old setting were filmed two months ago. This was the last video I filmed in my old studio, and my next nf one will be the first one I film in my new studio once it’s set up 😊
In Mansion NF basically says that he can't open the doors of his mind/mansion because he doesn't want ppl to see the fear he has/that has a room in his mind (for number of reasons). He knows if he opens his mind that probably be better for him, but chooses not to because he is scared. In Intro III we see a dialogue between NF and his fear, where Nate is in progress to throw his fear out of his mansion/bury it in a grave but not get rid of it completly (because as humans we need fear for some things in life) and also opening the mansions doors. And that's a true interpretation cause throughout The Journey you'll see that NF is becoming more and more open minded, confident and slightly cocky
Fear: What, are you scared of me? That's embarassin' If it wasn't for me, you would've never wrote Therapy I've been here for you, but how come you're never there for me? It's a little bit twisted, but I miss when you and I had scary dreams Nate: I don't really wanna talk about it Fear: Well, that's too bad now, Nate, shut up! Now where were we? Way back in the day when You and I had it all mapped out in the basement Cryin' in your room like a baby "I wish mom was here" We all do-so we wouldn't have to hear about it Every single record you don't really wanna change me Yeah, I'm the one that made this happen Do you really wanna get rid of your main attraction? Let's pack our bags and go back to Gladwin now Yeah, it's time for the third record And you know I got the content I don't wanna make you nervous But it ain't like it used to be We got a lotta people watchin' You told me that you don't want me in your life, That's pretty hard to digest And I told you I'd leave when we die, and we ain't died yet Therapy Session was beautiful, Nate, But I'm wonderin' what's comin' next Yeah, get that stupid hat off of your head when I'm talkin' to you, You hear what I said? You don't like the prison I built you? Yeah, you wanna know what the funny thing is? You keep on talkin' to me like a stranger, But we've been together since you were a kid, yeah Took us from a no-name Told you everything was okay Now you tryna cut me out of it like I ain't never been a part of it I am the heart of it, I made this whole thing Yeah, I put us on the dope stage You must have no brain What's the point of having guns if you can't aim? What's the point of having blood with no veins? What's the point of having love with no pain? Nate: What I'm sayin' is me without you doesn't make any sense Fear: I know I'm intense in controlling, But you need to learn how to cope with it That's just the way that it is If you didn't want me to live in your house, You shouldn't have let me move in It's comfortable here and I like it, I got my own room and everything It don't get better than this! You say you wanna own your life, Then wake up and take your own advice You just mad 'cause you know I'm right Yeah, I'm flattered you put me in Mansion, But you should've told 'em right 'Bout your hands on the coldest nights You didn't tell 'em 'bout the times you and I used to hold the mic Nate: I mean, what are you, outta your mind? 'Cause both of us will be, come on, let's go outside! Fear: Is this what you wanted? Both of us out in the open? Let's do it then I mean, why are you doin' this? I know that you're mad, but I'm not in the mood for this We got a record to drop So why you actin' like I'm not a part of it? Nate: And where is my shovel at? Prolly all back, where it always is You can't get rid of all of me I'm the reason why... Nate: Nah, shut up, I don't wanna hear another sentence Fear: Hey, I'm NF, "Is it me or the fear talkin'?" Ha! What a dumb question! Yeah, it's real music 'til the day we die, right? Yeah, ain't that the slogan, Nathan? Nate: Thought I told you to keep your mouth shut Fear: I mean, so what? You know I never listen Let me guess We gon' dig a hole, kill the track, and prolly put a beat in it Rap about it for like three minutes Ayy, that's pretty deep, isn't it? Wait a minute, you don't really think for a second That you're puttin' me in this? Nate: No, of course not, just a lil' deeper Then we'll go inside and we can stop digging Fear: Woo... You had me scared for a second, I thought we were diggin' my grave Nate: We did.... what, you don't like bein' afraid? (Haha) It's a dose of your own medicine What, you don't like how it tastes? My therapist told me don't bury my issues But I'ma be honest, man, I'm feelin' great! I think it's only right we go back to where you were created I wrote a song for Jonny without you, But he ain't gon' like it, let's see how he takes it He probably don't even remember us, does he? I wish I was buryin' anger, But both of us know I'ma need him for that song, He still lives in the basement Almost done, shoulda done this a year ago I don't know why I waited You know how I get, I put everything off of my personal life, You hear what I'm sayin'? That was a joke Yeah, it's hilarious, ain't it? You'll spend the rest of your life in my backyard Or back of my mind, depends how you see it Put the shovel away, time to go back in the house now, You'll be out in a week Tellin' me you want your room back, that's funny; What, you ain't got nowhere to sleep? I'ma just look out the window and laugh at you, This is crazy to me 'Cause I thought you had me in prison this whole time, But I'm the one holdin' the keys
How did I miss this?!?!? AND the live?!?!? What is YT doing???? 6 days later!?!?!? And I’m ONLY seeing it now because I was “looking” to see if you’ve done anything recently that I missed 🤦♀️ Thanks YT ... thank you for nothing!!! Okay, sorry ... rant over 🤷♀️ I love that you get so caught up in the music that you can’t even hear the lyrics ... okay sometimes ... haha But honestly, I think if you would have watched Outro first then the lyrics, or at least some of the lyrics, would have made more sense ... maybe 🤷♀️ Still love ya and appreciate everything you do. I haven’t got to the end of this one yet, I was just so frustrated about not getting any notifications that I couldn’t wait any longer to comment. And now I gotta go watch the live stream!!! Oh yeah, I’m still gonna watch it!!! I couldn’t be there in person but I’m gonna watch it!!! I have been looking so forward to it 🤷♀️😔 Thank you for all you do!!! 💞
Would LOVE to see you react to O Holy Night the version that Tommee Profitt did with Tauren Wells and Svrcina I know the holidays are over but its really done so beautifully and I know you will appreciate every bit of it.
I agree and disagree. Yes he has songs that better display his skill when it comes to delivery, and obviously more songs that match a higher energy. 'Bangers' so to speak But this is a pinnacle when it comes to his songwriting ability in my opinion. He doesn't have a song that has topped this in terms of actual writing. The only other song that comes close is 'Mansion' in terms of lyricism The clarity in the message. The story is so well written. You know what's going on the entire time, it's like watching a movie. Even on his new Mixtape, there isn't a song lyrically that's topped this yet. This his hands down a Top 3 NF song out of his discography
The build up that didn’t ever go anywhere was because he was knocking out fear with the shovel and putting him in the grave. See if you don’t listen to what’s going on in the song you’re missing half of the music.
Songs you can look forward to the most in Perception are: Destiny, If you want love, Outcast, Outro, Remember this and Dreams✨🔥!But that doesn't mean the others aren't amazing😏.
Hey! Thanks so much for your patience. This NF one was the last video I filmed in my old studio, and the new NF one will be the first one I film in my new one (as I’ve moved). I’m still setting it up and all videos I have released since have been a back log and recorded before this NF one
@@IronBran123 thanks 😊 my pitch is pretty good where piano is concerned but in no means perfect pitch. It is weird (when I was younger I used to think it was perfect pitch). I soon found out it is indeed not
Interesting, a music teacher who didn't pay attention to a single word in the lyrics, which is by far the most important thing when it comes to intro 3. There is literally a gold mine of locations in this song that connect with prior songs, but u weren't able to point out even 1. It's the best part of the journey, and unquestionably the best masterpiece he designed in his entire career. He did something with this song that musician have never done before. Not only did he connect this with other songs, he also was able to create the illusion that he had already designed this entire Journey 5 years prior while he was writing the songs for his Mansion album. Figured if anyone would be able to points these things out, it would be a music teacher. Didn't even seem like u picked up on the entire song being a 2 way conversation/argument. Sorry, but u did a poor job on this 1. I'm never harsh on my comments or feed back either, but music teachers should be held to a higher standard then random youtubers who have no experience with making or playing music.
Thank you so much for your feedback. If playing/learning music involved an understanding of linguistic poetry, this would have absolutely been a simple task for any music teacher. I think I missed that class :p I do appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment though and I’m trying to my best to understand the lyrics outside of a first listening 💕💕 music and lyrics are two different things, but they often come together so beautifully
