@@GAND-OZZ the bible never specifies curse words. Was "fuck" or "cunt" a curse word when the bible was written? Or does that somehow magically fall under what christians deem "curse" words? Good try though.
@@yaboiichach5976 dude. I never said you can’t both be Christian and curse, I just said Christian typically don’t curse. It’s because curse words are nowadays considered “profanity” and the Bible says to not be profane. No need to get angry at me, I’m just stating a point.
Lmao yeah he choose the wrong song to state that specifically but the fact remains NF is pure art through raw emotion. Which in turn, kids can be exposed to without wanting to twerk on top of lyrics that makes most self-reflect in a positive manner. @@Possumkingthefirst
@@conraddejongh3898drugs, cigarettes, robbery, violence.... These are things that would give a video game a mature rating. Soooo yeah, id say that same rating can be applied to music
Bro the transition of her not enjoying life and living mundane and then suddenly woke up and says I don't want to die today; is such a wake up call because we take each day for granted no matter how simple they are.
@@arielabraham6683 I think the reality in that situation is it'll affect her for a couple weeks and then she'll return back to the monotonous numb daily lifestyle until something big happens again. But it is possible she starts making an effort to live a happier, more grateful mindset. I would love to see that kind of version too.
Heard this so many times, and STILL my heart starts racing the second I hear “HEY OPEN UP THE DRAWER!” Honestly, at this point, I start getting a little tense when I hear the first notes because I *know* what’s coming in this song. But holy crap, this is storytelling at its finest. The tension, the pacing, the realism, the perspective from the active bystander that’s just caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, tying all the details together with the boyfriend from the beginning, Nate’s voice ranging from a raging demand to a terrified hush to a panicked prayer to the almost cathartic despondency of the shock in the aftermath of the terror when everything is over and all you can do is breathe. And the music video captures the essence of the song *perfectly* - absolutely phenomenal!
I feel sick to my stomach every time I hear it. That’s how good it is. The raw power and emotion makes me feel like I’m actually in the situation and this song genuinely terrifies me
In a strange way I wonder if its not a Ren and Em reference (amongst others). Ren's early songs - Violet's/Screech's Tales (Ren ~ "Eryn Gill", the gun shots, the name, the 'new guy') and Eminem's longterm story songs like Stan(//)Bad Guy ('Em ~ "Marshall M.", in the sense of how MM used writing stories and alter allegories vs how Slim would operate as a wordsmith of the unconscious). If interested see the timing of Ren's song "Genesis" and the intertextuality in it to NF (which to me personally is very clear, but 'ay, may be off my rocker/out my rapper hear ;))
@@doorhandleeYou can stop commenting since you don't like the song go listen to your favorite rapper or something else no one literally cares about your opinion but yourself
@@Pdubbs_ lol that was the point, jeremy is referencing NF's lyrics on "clouds" and how this other video proves he can make videos better than hollywood movies
@@lor2754 I think he means it's kinda unbelievable he made a story out of a song, it's pretty much unheard of and unique. No need to ride the guy just because he said he was a filmmaker...
The first time i listened to this, it was in spotify, i was blown away of how i was able to imagine the entire song in my head just by the lyrics, storytelling at its finest for real
I cry every time I listen to this song. Knowing that this is something that could just happen any day to anyone really scares me. And I'm okay with being that vulnerable. I know who I am, and being realistic with my fear of mortality is important to me.
Heard this song for the first time a few days ago and was SHOCKED when I found out there was a robber. This song is incredible and NF’s story telling abilities are beyond anything I have ever seen.
I’ve watched this so many times and I still find something new every time I watch it. Greatest rapper ever. Enough said. This isn’t your typical rapper he literally made a movie in 5 minutes like cmon nobody does that!!!!
Slick Rick was the best at story telling. Might be before some of yall times but that man brought story telling to the forefront. and Tupac, also Biggie
Damn.... Had this song on my headphones walking to work. Never listened to NF before. Got a almost full blown panic attack just listening to the "story" .....So bloody realistic. Hooked now..
I could barely breathe while listening to and watching this masterpiece of art., I could hear each heartbeat of mine, a lot of chaos happened inside me!! what a unique creature you are NF !!!
There’s one line “where’s my phone? Left it in my car Icing on the cake…” That really stuck with me coz I ALWAYS take my phone into stores for this very reason. :/
Though this isn't my favorite NF song, I think this is the one that best exemplifies why he is one of the all time greats. If not the best lyricist of all time. Inspirational on every level.
I love how he shows Erin thinking about changing it up by picking a different candy, then ends up going back to the her usual choice. It subtly conveys that something as unimportant as the snack she gets is what he life has devolved to, while also showing that she can't seem to break from it and do something different. She doesn't seem to value her time, and is miserable. Then when contrasted with a life threatening situation, suddenly she starts praying, and has something to fight for. It's really perfect how he characterizes her with just a couple lines. Also, somehow my brain knew her name before he even said it in the song, kinda weird.
I know it’s only a music video but I find myself wondering what happed to the cashier and girl, did he live? Did she get fired from her shitty job for being late? Damn you Nate I got so many questions, you got me good with this
Started watching this video causally (scrolling through comments etc.) but as soon as i realised what’s going on…had to switch to Full screen and fully focus 😅 DAMN this is genius…what an artist 🫡
Fr. He doesn’t usually do storytelling tracks like this. This is genuinely so intense. I was listening to the song alone without the music video and I was on the edge of my seat every second.
