Their main problem is the lack of intricate writing with double and triple entendres and the basic writing thats just NFs style so no matter what song they listen to they'll never like him, so if they can't relate to the burdens and depressions that mainly a younger generation deal with on top of being used to listening to crazy talented lyricists for decades then it'll never hit him and be their thing so requests are pointless lol

You guys are reacting to all his deepest songs where you have to be a fan and know things about his life to understand. And I think all his fans that are suggesting songs to you guys don’t realize that. For example to me as a fan, “outro” was a masterpiece because I knew all the symbolism in that video and references he made in his lyrics. But I would never recommend to a someone new. You guys should definitely give another chance. But do it to like “Statement” “Warm up” “Real” “No name” “Therapy Session” “Remember this” “Why”

100% agree. Fans recommended how could you leave us They won't enjoy the song unless they care about the artist, lost in Vegas are listening primarily out for bars and in general great songs, how could you leave us is a story, not to say they can't appreciate it, but if you want them to get on the artist you recommend the right song. When suggesting logic people didn't immediately suggest 1800 because that's not what these guys are looking to listen to

Yeah 100% agree. They need to hit some of those songs that are disconnected from the deep emotional stuff. Half the songs from perception would work. But I find that people who haven't dealt with mental health issues either themselves or with immediate family don't enjoy NF. I've made peace with it. They can't relate to the music so it comes off really different to them. I've heard people call NF whiny because the one song they've ever heard was How Could You Leave Us.

Yeah, I think they really miss the point of reacting to and critiquing music, and the art of music itself. Honestly, by saying it's not relatable to them, they're the kind of people who do exactly what Nate mentions in the song.. "We've all got things that we've trapped inside/That we try to suffocate/You know hoping it dies". Which is fine, we all do, and if you say you don't, you're lying to yourself, there's always something... the whole evaluation just kind of irritated me really, so I'll save the tangent, good point though Luke.

Didn't like the song cuz u couldn't relate??? Come on dude... It's about execution and skill!! How you like a Lil Uzi song for its trap melody but not like this for its orchestral rap quality? The music itself is like Epic HipHop lol At least talk about the clever wordplay, the production value, the flow... Etc... Idk, I feel like yall just ignore some of that just because you're not really connecting. But maybe I am biased. I am not a huge NF fan, but I liked him BECAUSE of the Epic production. His songs are in movies and TV shows such as; 24, Legacy, and The Good Doctor, so that's a big reason that NF has such dramatic buildups, intros and beats. 4) This song is sooo good and I'm happy you guys did it.

Mannnnn, the thing with NF is that his music videos are indeed mini movies, or a mini-series. Since Album 1 Mansion it all connects, there's a constant story line he is telling us. Mansion has to do a lot with his own thoughts and goes in depth on his state of mind, which is why he calls his ind his Mansion. Therapy Session his second album he goes more into depression, he goes into the anxiety of having the responsibility of what he raps about given people connect with him and he expresses in Therapy session that, as well as his relationships and stuff. In Perception his third album, he goes more into the Perception of him and how he is and why he raps about this and his perception on the rap game and what he is doing. Throughout all three albums more than a couple songs connect and continue his journey he is going through and sharing with us his fans and supporters. But its not just one thing in particular, its multitude of subjects, its why people rock with him. We've all at some point have gone through relationship issues, mental issues, family members going through depression, every day struggles in life. Then we go into the videos which add another layer of the story, the videos themselves tell their own story that not always connect with the song but it connects with the previous or future song, which will then make the songs connect and will make you re-listen to the songs again and catch the connection. Sometimes even audio notes are nods or clues that you will think is just something they added in production but later you see the deeper meaning behind it.

The journey down the NF road is long but great. Here is a small breakdown of his mainstream albums. Mansion he talks about how he has multiple personalities in his "Mansion" aka head. Mansion seemingly takes us down a lot roads from different personalities of NF. Therapy Session he begins to open up and leave himself vulnerable. We also begin to see that NF is somewhat reliant on his different personas. Perception was NF realizing he doesn't have to live in the prison he built himself. Perception was where NF really started to stand out and hit his stride. The Search is all about NF stepping into this new world he has found. We begin to understand who NF really is outside of the walls and prison of his mind. Now to breakdown the music video. Black balloons are symbolic of burdens that we all have and carry. The cart is from his video Why altho I'm not completely sure of the symbolism with it. My theory is that is similar to the cage but instead of him being locked up in one particular place he can take the cart wherever he wants and if he feels like dropping back into old habits the cart will be there. The cage in the background was from his video Outcast and is symbolic of NF escaping the prison he built himself. The white robes are symbolic of people who have accepted that they need help and want help. The white robes are also a nod to NF's faith in Christianity.

It's believed that the individuals in white represent mental patients, lost wandering. While the balloons represent their burdens. The blonde haired lady laying on the swing represents his deceased mother. She has 3 balloons one for NF nd the other two for his sisters. In the closing scene NF is given the white clothing (early in the song he mentioned Therapist) basically saying that he might be teetering that mental/sane line.

1) The cage in the background is from "Outcast" and the shopping cart and the black balloons are from "Why" 2) On of his first lines in this song is "Had to see a therapist and I found out// something funny going on in my house" That's a double reference to some of his songs He has a song called "Therapy Session where he basically just talks about what he felt about the way he was perceived in the fan base. The second song reference is about an older song called "Mansion" where he talks about his childhood struggles and compares the blank walls to his mind and the rooms he doesn't want to revisit with the memories in the back of his mind that he doesn't wanna see. 3) As you said in part 1, I think that the balloons represent his burdens. 4) During the video you can see a couple people wearing white clothes, but all of them have black balloons, which I believe is his way to say that those persons show themselves as happy and always in a good mood, when in reality they also have their burdens to fight with. 5) And that's why, in the end of the video, Nf, who is known to battle depression, is wearing all black and (what seems to be) crying inside the cart (someone else pointed out that the cart was a way of saying that he got out of the cage, but now had a "mobile cage" with him) by a river, where he struggled to get to with the cart. And then, a person in white comes along and drops off some white clothes, as if he/she is saying something like " just pretend to be happy" even though nf has said in "Therapy Session" and I quote "You want me to smile// you want me to laugh// you want me to walk on these stages with a smile on my face when I'm mad and put on a mask// for real?" Not saying that's what all of that means, I'm just giving my personal opinion on it

I feel you guys on the emotional emphasis of his videos, its definitely an acquired taste, or something that like you said has to be kind of relatable. As for his bars, there was definitely complexity in the simplicity, for example, "lookin for the anecdote to crack the code, lookin for the map to hope" "im a gentleman, but only if i feel that youre genuine", there are plenty of dense bars in this track to give a little more props to his content than i think you guys gave him. As for the production, i respect your opinion, when it comes to music production is definitely subjective, that being said, i have to disagree with you guys, the tone and texture of the production to me was beautiful, definitely not basic, i dont know anyone really who uses his grey and grainy texture, its very original and perfectly fits into his content. This is just me though.

Lol, I find this hilarious! Although, you can't relate to the song, you don't like the song? Did i get that right? So you didn't like the beat, his flow, and the bars? I don't relate to it either, but this song as a whole is straight fire! I'm speaking as a song! You guys kept going back to the relatability.

so early that they didn’t link part two in the description lol I think you should give Aesop Rock another try. The first song you reacted to was a deeper cut that is harder to appreciate if you are not accustomed to him. I’d recommend Rings or Kirby or Shrunk, singles off his album The Impossible Kid. The album is more approachable than the rest of his body of work, less labyrinthian lol. all in all loved the reaction guys, keep it up

I just think NF talks about these heavy subject matters in a very plain and basic way. And artist like Earl Sweatshirt can make a song about depression and his lyrics and tone make it seem like he is just staring into a black hole. And NF just feels like a safer version. He’s just ok, there’s nothing really gripping about him

Ok, here’s the FULL break down, you ready? The balloons represent his regrets as he gestures back and says “leaving my burdens, well I brought a few with me I’m not perfect”. The cage in the back represents him locking himself in with his own mental problems, that was his big thing from his previous album Perception so it shows him walking away from that. For his perception tour he used to put a black makeup smile on his face so that’s why he says “put on my makeup forget what I’m saying”, also “look everybody I’m smiling big” because people also say a lot that he should be happier and smile more as he talks about this in many other songs. The song Changes he references is from his very very first album Moments (before he was NF). When he says “something funny is going on up in my house” he is talking about his first NF album Mansion as that one was about his “mind mansion” type thing. He says last year he had to see a therapist, that’s from his second album Therapy Session where he acts as his own therapist. We see this landscape as a vast wide open plain which is a big change from other music videos, this shows a sense of freedom and exposure from his past state. The women on the bench represents his mom who died a while back due to overdosing (very very sad, he wrote a song about it called “How could you leave us”), and there are balloons on the bench so that is a huge burden for him. The balloons (burdens) are slowing him down from pulling the cart, and I haven’t completely figured out what the cart is exactly. I’m thinking maybe like a mini cage that he is taking with him that can be a safe place for him to go as he climbs in it at the end. Don’t exactly know what the people dressed in white are, maybe people around him or everybody that carries there own burdens? And idk what the white clothes he gets at the end are, maybe just starting a new phase of life that’s not so full of darkness and depression which would be a huge step for him. When he says “hovers over you to tell you millions of lies” that’s a reference to his song “Why” where he talked about lies quite a bit. When he says “had a taste of the fame and it pumped my stomach” he his responding to a line in his song No Name where he says “fame called me, I’ll get back to that in album four”, I liked that. He also says in this song, “ call me what you wanna but never call me forgettable” and I believe that was a response to a “College Kids react” video where someone calls him forgettable. His whole thing for this album is his Search for hope as he says “I’m looking for the map to hope you seen it?” What are your guys’s thoughts? I’v been a fan since 2014 before his Mansion album came out, so you can imagine the level of excitement I have for this album 😁😁😁. The Search album drops on 7/26/19

This is for anyone new who may want to take the NF journey as we call it because he intertwines his music like marvel movies. All four albums is like a connected series. For instance in his when i grow up song, paid my dues, leave me alone, and why song, the black smile is the fake smile that he mentions in therapy session song. He hides eggs in his videos. In when i grow up song there was two hidden eggs in that song. A black balloon by the trash cans and in burger joint he grabbed at receipt that had the date and time of when his song time was being released. He had outcast name tag on in the janitor part from his Outcast song. Another example is in the search song he had cage in background he rapped in from his outcast song. Here is the song order: Mansion Album: All I have (video) Intro (video) Mansion- connects to intro 3. Fear moved in. Wake Up (video) Paralyzed Notepad (video) Therapy Session Album: Intro 2 (video) Therapy Session (video) Very important song. I just wanna know (video) How could you leave us-(video) have tissues nearby. Real song- (video) he pays homage to lil wayne in this song feed me rappers or feed me beats) Grindin ft Marty (video) Oh Lord- this song gets referred to in returns two albums later. Great song Statement (he pays homage to eminem and drake in this song) Warm Up -single (hype song) (video) Epiphany- collab with futuristic. Video. Pays homage to meek mill. Green lights (video) pay attention to what he has written on the notepad at the end. Perception Album: Outro (video) pay attention to the video. It is like marvel endgame how he connects tons of previous videos in this. Intro 3 (one of his best songs) Outcast (video) Know- pays homage to eminem and 21 pilots Destiny One hundred Let you down (video) watch to the very end! If you want love (video) Remember this- 💎 Gems all over this track Single: No Name. (Video) This gets connected in leave me alone song an album later. Single: Why- (video) NF pays big homage to Big Sean as he uses his flow from bounce back in this and mentions Big Seans name and his album I decided. (This isnt nates flow he says) Also he has a ton of eggs like Dont mess with real music written on walls. Pay attention to all the writing. Additionally, Big Sean paid homage back in harder than my demons song he had the black balloons in it among other things Search Album: Whole album should be listened to but you can choose which you would like to do: The search (video) When I grow up (video) Leave me alone (video) Change My stress Nate Time (video) Returns- (hype song) one of his best for flow switches and word play Only Let me go Interlude then I hate myself song I miss the days No excuses (hype song) Like this Options (hype song) Thinking Trauma singing only song. Amazing Paid My Dues (video) It was to the awful article rolling stones put out because the writer was a big chance the rapper fan and was pissed NF took number one spot. Over 400 people bashed that writer in the comments lol Chasing -demo he did with a fan. Clouds the Mixtape- Clouds (video) Lost ft Hopsin (video) Story (video) That’s a Joke (pays homage to J Cole) Just like you Prideful Layers Drifting Trust ft Tech N9ne Also there is many good songs not on this list like Dreams, you’re special ect if you like him then take the time and go back through and listen through them all at some point. His lost in the moment song was just used for the promo for the new show called the equalizer starring Queen Latifah.

Agree in some points of view on the description but at the same I disagree in terms like rapping is more than words more than rhyming biggest names in the game Tupac or biggie or Nas or eminem ect.... impact the game for a game changer not for likes and popularity they made rap into a life changer thre lyrics and open eyes and inspired crowds and had effects for the better or worse and I believe NF is that unique man making his history in similar way it's not liking to relate its relating to see what is going on in the world and what he is doing and what can be done to prevent it's a message to a cure or fix.

It is undetstandable that some people won't be moved by NF's videos and try to talk about them as average or concentrate coldly on technicality. There's plenty of emotionally detached people out there who do not allow themselves to feel. These are the people NF targets, so the cool boys can understand it's ok to allow yourself to feel, cause that's the only way to stay healthy, alive and successful. Peace.

I appreciate how you separate your technical critique of his song from the impact that he still brings with each one. Especially when I know that in my bias I fan boy over every new song initially. So when you methodically say why you don't like it with respect, it gives me even more to think about. Thank you.

I always respect y'alls honest reactions. You should do some reactions to his new album "The Search." It beat Chance the Rapper on the Billboard 200 top albums for the last 2 weeks and I feel like y'all still haven't reacted to his best stuff. Warm up, No Name, Outcast, No Excuses, Options, Nate, Leave me Alone, and Change are just what scratch the surface of some of his best works.

I love the detail with the balloons because he said he would put make up on and when he pretended to be happy he acted like a clown. So the juxtaposition of something as happy as balloons with the dreary black color suits well with the message and the whole clown thing

NF makes poetry. Its interestingly human & its all unique because its about himself, its genuine, yet not unique because its so relate-able, & the possibility of it relating is always a possibility. I think thats why yall might not feel satisfied musically too, because he's adding rhythmically head bobbing/shaking beats that adds to it all, yet keeps it simplistic. Think its on purpose though because it keeps u focused on his cadence and words, his thoughts are the whole point after all.

The songs you guys would probably grativitate more toward are songs like "Green Lights", "No Excuses", "Options". Anyways its really cool to see you guys not hateing on an artist just because you didnt like the song. You can still appreciate the art and his talent and creativity, without neccesarily putting the song in your playlist. Thats big man, alot more people need to be thinking that way. Edit: "No Name", and "Real" are also good. But he does use his music literally as therapy so hes got alot of sad songs, so to speak.

My first time hearing NF. I actually liked the song & found the message uplifting. It's not a happy sounding song, but it spoke to an intellectual curiosity & internal self-awareness. I think a lot of people could stand to be more honest with themselves these days. If you can work through your own shit & learn to love yourself, it opens you up to be capable of loving the rest of the world.

Yea, nah this is a fair reaction, loved that you guys explained your thoughts behind it and how you saw how people could get behind it. He's def one of my fav rappers, more because of his vulnerability than anything. I don't know why everyone is recommending remember this, if you want lyricism out of NF, you'd have to listen to a whole album and decide which one has it for you. He is def lyrical in some songs, but you'd have to find it yourselves, because we're all too emotionally involved with his work to pick a song for you guys to review, I'd personally recommend Outcast though, because he's got a decent flow and has a good flow through most of it
